Wizards of the Coast harboring pedophiles
Social forum

Hey everybody, I don't know if you've heard or not, but it turns out that Wizards of the Coast has been harboring Pedophiles in their Pro-tour Judges panels and in positions within their company. Multiple members of their staff have been arrested for having sex with minors. I don't know the full extent of it, but Wizards of The Coast has been very hush-hush about this issue.
I went ahead and looked up the arrests and mtg-related publications about the judges mentioned in the video, just for the skeptics.
Hurry and read these links for yourself, before they are gone, as Wizards of the Coast are quickly getting rid of all mentions of these outed pedos.
It wouldn't be that big of a deal to have a few bad apples in the bunch, but Wizards of the Coast's reaction has not been to apologize for having these people in their group, but instead they are actively trying to scrub their websites and have launched a campaign of defamation and DOXING against TheQuartering and other individuals who are trying to shed light on this situation. To me, this suggests that Wizards of the Coast is harboring a pedophile ring. The least they could do is have background checks for their staff, as there are many minors at MTG events, but they don't.
Until Wizards of the Coast is completely turned out and replaced with decent folk, I'm not giving them a dime, and I highly recommend everyone to do the same.
And to you kids out there, be careful at any social MTG event.

Just so you know, the guy in the video has a history of spreading lies to try to hurt WotC and other MTG content creators. Not saying this is necessarily false, but I'd be interested to see this from a more reputable source.

Seconding what ABadMagicPlayer100 said...I'd take this with a rather large grain of salt unless a more reliable source verifies it.

This post reads like a sensationalism piece. Please post responsibly. As for the discussion itself, I don't really know how far it could go as this is not an appropriate forum for outing individuals.

@ABadMagicPlayer100, @MagmaArmor0: I updated the original post with some data to back the claims of TheQuartering. I left out the guy who had sex with a 17 year old, and some guy who owns a gamestore, and some guy who treated his wife bad. I don't think that those are quite as related to the real problem, which is a possible pedophile ring in Wizards of the Coast. As to why you think TheQuartering is a liar, what sorts of things has he lied about? So far, everything I've looked up that he talks about in this video is 100% correct.
@yeaGO: But unfortunately, this is all true. I do agree that these sorts of citizen investigations are known to turn into witchhunts and go out of control. However a large part of this is due to people working for the pedo-groups will start posting a lot of misinformation to crowd out the actual truths and make the entire movement look ridiculous. I'm sharing this because everyone who plays Magic the Gathering deserves to know about it as their money is directly funding this group.

Props going out to masterpeez for the update - anyone questioning this information as "sensationalism" or "not reputable" should pull their heads out of the sand and click on those links.
If this thread gets deleted then to me that's 100 percent proof that something majorly shady is going on at Wizards...however the truth always come out in the end.
December 30, 2017 5:36 a.m.
I don't want this to be real, but after looking at the links I am seriously worried about attending MTG events in the future. Also side note, why does CFB have a pro team when they run all events, that's really sketchy.

So what these people served their time and paid their debt to society
December 30, 2017 7:46 a.m.
@dabean27 despite the fact they have served time they should still not be being put in places of power over children on a regular basis, which is what judges do.
December 30, 2017 8:11 a.m.
If you serve your time and pay your debt your fine once a rapist isn't always a rapist
December 30, 2017 9:05 a.m.
When I said this forum isn't the appropriate place to out individuals, the next thing you do is update it with links outing those individuals. I also removed a link to a video which you cited as a source but really just repeated your allegations.
Wizards has a judge-ship program to certify the ability of someone to judge magic. The certification does not stand by anything the person could possibly do. Let us say tomorrow the unthinkable happens, and that a serial killer is found to have been a magic judge. To say Wizards would have been "harbouring" this person is an irresponsible thing to say.

Dabean27 so a guy should be able to get released from jail for having child porn then be able to go hang out with kids?. Once a paedophile always a paedophile. You can't change what your sexually attracted to

Okay, so I watched the video (when it was still there). I clicked the links. I saw absolutely no evidence whatsoever of Wizards of the Coast Harboring anyone, nor of any Wizards staff charged/convicted of any of these crimes.
Judges are not Wizards employees. The lawsuit alleging that they were was ruled in favor of Wizards, last I checked. Wizards does "background checks" on their employees, but since judges are not employees, they are not checked. Should they be? That's a matter for civilized debate over whether such a program could be reasonably implemented. (Who pays the costs for all of these background checks? Who files all the paperwork? Is there any benefit--do we have any recorded instance of someone committing a crime at a Magic Event that would have failed a background check?)
Secondly, dealing with this quote:
"[Wizards has] launched a campaign of defamation and DOXING against TheQuartering and other individuals who are trying to shed light on this situation. "
I'm sorry, but what? Where is the evidence? None of your links/videos in any way provide even a single bit of evidence towards this. Secondly, as yeaGO points out, you are basically "Doxxing" each of the people you linked to right here in your own post. Your complaint about Wizards seems to be that they aren't "apologizing for having these people in their group" (again, judges are not employees). Putting aside the fact that loudly announcing random arrests in the Magic community when nobody is asking about them is not good business practice--how would Wizards even know? They do not employ these judges--they aren't notified of every arrest, and they certainly should not make public statements regarding individual court cases (doing so risks lawsuits or mistrials--or worse, sets a precedent that Wizards has to monitor all arrest records 24/7 for mentions of anyone who has the same name as a judge). The most they can do is make generic statements condemning people who make others feel unsafe when playing Magic.
Furthermore, .71% of America (where your video seems to be focusing) is in prison. The last info I can find for the number of certified American judges is around 700 (That was back in 2001--there's almost certainly a lot more than that now). By that math, approximately 5 magic judges should currently be in jail. Is that bad? Yes. Am I saying what those people did is excusable? No. Is it expected that, in any large enough gathering of people, you will have some criminals? Yes, unfortunately.
Lastly, forums are a place for discussion. This is a Magic deckbuilding website. What discussion are you intending to foster? Are you looking to have a debate about the feasibility of requiring all Magic judges to pass background checks? Why the sensationalist, ungrounded title "Wizards of the Coast harboring pedophiles"? Why is that weird Pedobear card there? Is this post meant to be taken seriously? Why include that if you're trying to foster legitimate discussion?

I did not out the individuals. They already have been convicted of having child pornography or molesting children. I wasn't posting those links so that people could send hateful mail or DOX those people. I merely posted public news articles of their arrests and links describing their involvement with Wizards of the Coast to back up my claims. Also, these Judges were allowed to stay on as Judges by Wizards of the Coast, even after they were convicted. So yes, Wizards of the Coast are harboring these people. While it is important as a society to reintroduce criminals back into the work-force and society after they have served their penal duties, convicted pedophiles should not be allowed to get jobs working with kids, shouldn't be allowed to run game stores, nor work at schools. Wizards lack of vetting, lack of any background checks, and refusal to implement background checks even after they know that they have convicted pedophiles in their judge program is inappropriate. All of this is very suspicious and suggests that this is a widespread and systematic problem. And its not just Wizards of the Coast that is suspect, but many other companies like Star City Games, Channel Fireball, and numerous game stores that all work very closely within the same network. The video I posted was where I first heard about this issue, and TheQuartering, the video poster, goes into more detail than I do. Some people may not like other videos of his, but I haven't heard anyone give any proof of any lying on his part. I posted proof to confirm that he isn't lying about this issue. I think its very important to take this seriously, as there are a lot of kids that play Magic the Gathering and go to these events. Many of them are socially naive or autistic types and I hate the idea of predators taking advantage of these kids and fucking their brains out.

I echo the sentiments of MagmaArmor0 and yeaGO on this one. The whole Pedo-bear thing is super weird if this is meant to be a serious post, and pointing this out on a deck building site in the social category is bizarre as well. WotC may have its head in an echo chamber, but this isnt the way to go about showing it.
December 30, 2017 1:26 p.m.
You might want to switch the end of that paragraph masterpeez
December 30, 2017 1:26 p.m.
Dredge4life this is a website related to mtg and this is something that affects all mtg players so where else would you suggest he puts it?
December 30, 2017 1:28 p.m.
Lets not go pointing fingers at yeaGO he makes everything work here.
I agree that wotc should do some kind of background check for employees of any kind. Definitely worth doing, ya cant have pedos or worse hanging around massive groups of people.
The dude in that video recently got ban himself, so he would grip any shred of evidence he can find to throw at wotc.
I want something more real for proof. If all this is true, I definitely think wotc should come out with a statement. Its bad p.r., but if people think youre trying to cover something up, its worse p.r.
December 30, 2017 1:48 p.m.
Pm me links about this, not from jeremy. I want info.
December 30, 2017 1:50 p.m.
Sorry, but the whole thing smells of a concern troll and this is not the appropriate venue to begin the work of documenting the behaviors of any individuals, like i said earlier and you decided to ignore.
As for WOTC somehow empowering these individuals, sorry, but there are already governing federal and state laws related to what role these people may take on in our society. Thats not up to wizards to police, except inasmuch as they're directly employing them, because, like i said, the certification they issue simply relates to their ability to regulate magic rules and nothing else.
December 30, 2017 3:17 p.m.
So by your logic yeaGO a convicted child rapist should be able to go volunteer at a day care and if the day care didn't do a back ground check on the person its not the day cares fault if he rapes a kid?
December 30, 2017 3:39 p.m.
Incorrect.
I'm struggling a little to stick with your analogy, but the day care in this case isn't wizards usually, but many other LGSs whose job it is to screen WHOMEVER they employ. And regardless of if an assault happens, there may already have been legal problems at play for this person seeking employment, such as a violation of probation.
December 30, 2017 3:48 p.m.
A judge is a volenter for wotc In my example I exchanged wotc with a day care. Not that hard to follow....
December 30, 2017 4:56 p.m.
That's simply not true. Often they're paid or volunteering for a third party tournament organizer, who i may remind you has many other people in their employ besides judges.
December 30, 2017 4:59 p.m.
Rabid_Wombat says... #37
Sorry yeaGO but Wizards are empowering these convicted child molesters by allowing them to attend DCI events - they are former Judges/gamestore owners after all.
Your talk of "federal and government laws" being in place is just a cop out.
Let me tell you right now that if a young child ends up being molested by one of these scumbags at a DCI event you can bet Hasbro's annual profit margin that there WILL BE LAWSUITS AGAINST WOTC AS A RESULT.
Seriously yeaGO Would you let your own young kids or niece and nephew go hang out by themselves at a DCI event after these revelations??
December 30, 2017 5:01 p.m.
Yes. Clearly you think the problem is more widespread and less obscure than i do. I also would note that all employees and attendees at these events, which are not chosen or even screened by wizards except in issuing the judge certificate or DCI number, are equally likely as the judges to have some kind of nefarious history. The fixation on wizards supposed role in all of this seems misguided, but obviously you're free to have your own perspective and to make decisions for your own children based on that.
December 30, 2017 5:12 p.m.
I think it is wrong of wizards to be covering up judges who are pedofiles, but I think the idea there is a ring of them is absurd. I think the real reason this was brought up in the first place was because TheQuartering was banned and everyone was mad because wizards had no real evidence to ban him besides a few mean comments on the Internet. The fact that wizards basicly did a hit job on someone because they didn't agree with them is the issue we should be discussing, not an outlandish pedo ring. I think wizards comvering up pedos is wizards being a stupid company and not admitting mistakes.
December 30, 2017 9:36 p.m.
Even if some of the staff at the company are guilty of something like that, it doesn't mean the company in any way condones that behaviour. That's an irresponsible conclusion to draw.
December 31, 2017 4:14 p.m.
This is clearly just a hitjob on WotC because people are mad about Quartering.

nacnud91, montahc: What theQuartering says in his latest videos is 100% truth. I personally verified his statements (and I will PM to whoever wants the info). To attempt to subvert and ignore these very real facts is to turn a blind eye and ignore what is most likely a very real problem. TheQuartering's personal motives are irrelevant. Perhaps he has more than one motive for making these videos, but this does not change the actual facts and arguments that he clearly presents. it is an ad hominem fallacy, to attack the motives or values of the person, so as to divert attention from the actual argument.
The judges that were caught are the ones that are in charge of hiring other judges. The judge program is very private, selective, and personal. These judges that have been convicted with child molestation charges are at the very top of the program. What are the odds that they are picking other pedophiles to join their group? They certainly aren't going to prevent pedophiles from joining their judge group.
I don't think its just wizards of the coast that is a problem, but most likely many other companies, like channel fireball, star city games, and who knows how many local game stores that are in on or have allowed this sort of thing to take place. Due to the amount of pushback on this site and on youtube against theQuartering, my opinion is that this is all part of a large network with a lot at stake. If it was only 3 pedophiles, there wouldn't be any discussion, they would be kicked out of the judge program, the judge program would apologize and background checks would be put in place.
January 1, 2018 7:45 a.m.
| Due to the amount of pushback on this site
/ Spits up drink. So just to be clear, this is an evolving situation in your mind and actors on this site are part of this "large network with a lot at stake"?
Really, its quite sad to think you might actually believe something like that. You have been a treasured member here for a long time and you're really going to suggest that?
January 1, 2018 8:01 a.m.
@masterpeez The fact that there are 3 pedos high up in an organization is not basis to infer that there are many other pedos in the company, the idea that sex offenders would actively try to hire other sex offenders is silly. Almost all sex offenders commit their crimes independently and not in alleged pedo rings. Furthermore none of the pedofile's crimes had anything to do with MTG, so why would they try to actively recruit other pedofiles to the judge program? To push the idea of completly unrelated sex offenders from different states, who probably had no idea of each other's existence starting a sex ring in the judge program is to fear monger and blow up this issue to a scale which it is not. I believe these crimes were isolated incidents which are now simply happening to come to light at the same time.
I see that TheQuartering's evidence is real, but i believe that the conclusion he is drawing from that evidence reflects his self stated goal of destroying WOTC. Jeremy is drawing lines from his evidence which simply can not be reasonably drawn at this time with the information we have, it is important to see Jeremy's true motive when examining the way he interprets his evidence. He is trying to make things look as damning to wizards as possible.

nacnud91 the idea that sex offenders would actively try to hire other sex offenders is not "silly"....it is their modus operandi.
Do some research into Pizzagate then get back to us.
January 1, 2018 4:27 p.m.
Are you referring to pizzagate as in the debunked conspiracy theory about Hillary Clinton running a sex trafficking ring through Papa Johns and Dominos? Because that is completely false. If you can find actual instances of sex offenders creating sex rings inside of major corporations then I'll look into them, but pizza gate is completely flase. I really hope you telling me to look into pizzagate was a joke

just for a moment think about this:
WOTC knew about these and possible other criminal actions judges had been charged with in the past and assumed/hoped they had learned their lesson and turned a blind eye hoped it wouldnt bite them later down the road.
im sorry to say it but WOTC is a company, and we have seen plenty a company make bad decisions or cover up something they shouldnt....cough cough too many to list cough cough...
im sure they knew, and im sure they hoped it would go away or not be a thing later. I can see why they would do that, and I can see why they are complete fools if this is the actual case.
As for this thread, PEOPLE if there are links or if their is real information out their go find it and get that information for yourself. This is an important matter for many reasons, but if you really want to know the truth about these accusations just google it. I literally did that before i commented, and sad to say there are some bad apples.

The fact that Wizards are deleting names from the Judges database but still allowing these individuals to attend DCI Sanctioned events shows a level of complicity and deceit that is downright scary.
Until I see proof that Wizards of the Coast are doing background checks on Judges I am never buying another MTG booster pack or spending any tix!
