Finding a Place to Play MTG

I've been getting back into Magic and I've been trying to find some stores near me (I live in West LA). I only really play EDH, I sometimes draft.
I've been trying to find a place to meet MTG players, specifically those who play EDH. I've already researched online for cardshops in my area. The first shop I went to was dead, literally no one there (All Star Cards). The second shop I went to (Hi-De-Ho Comics) had an EDH tournament but I felt some of the people there were rude and a bit unwelcoming. Maybe because it was a tournament, idk?
The third shop I went to didn't have any EDH players at all, even though the manager said they would arrive during the time I did (I know that players arrival times vary), but it is very disheartening.
Has anybody been in a similar predicament or have any advice? Sorry for the rant
I've been to all star and hi de ho. All star sucks major balls, I've been there a couple times and it was pretty shitty each time. I've only been to hi de ho for a pptq but it seemed fine and most of the people were fairly welcoming. However, I have no idea if they were regulars or not. I'd recommend trying Hi de ho again, maybe with a different format because if there were some specific douchebags, they might only play EDH and wouldn't be at a draft or standard tournament.

I share the lack of an LGS but more due to a geographical constraint. Plus my Unoversity, as weird as it is, doesn't have an MTG group, or one that I've been able to find.
I play a lot online now (Cockatrice, not MTGO) and play in paper whenever I go home for breaks and such. It's tough, but you just have to keep looking for an environment that suits you.

There's an app by MTGHeadquarters called GameFindr. It's used to find other card game players. I haven't had much success with it but you may as well try your luck

Where do you live? My hometown has a game store, but there would be little point in revealing its name if you do not live close to where I live.

Profet93: I live in Massachusetts, so it is very unlikely that we shall be going to the same game store at any time in the near future.

My area has two shops. Both their service and their respective communities are atrocious. Still, that's not that bad. I actually know tons of people who like MtG and play it regularly. The problem is that the way I like to play EDH is very different from most people. It's incredibly hard for outsiders to walk into the group I frequent. We're pretty damn competitive and all of us run fully proxied decks. That means every deck at the table will have proxied mana drains and mana crypts. That rubs almost everyone I know the wrong way.
Still, I'm lucky to have a dedicated group of friends to play EDH with on a regular basis. Our sessions are held once a week and last 8+ hours most days. It just sucks because the barrier of entry to play with us is pretty nasty.

It was probably because it was a tournament so the atmosphere was a bit competitive...
Try to go and meet some players at a more casual time maybe?
