The Star City Games "Team Sealed" Grand Prix is starting today at the Washington, DC Convention Center, which fortunately is 1 block from my office. I stopped by on lunch to check things out. I'm heading back over after I'm done for the day....
I'm heading back over in 2 hours to play in the "FOILED AGAIN" side event
I'm headed there is less than an hour. I'm so stoked.
vault: I wish you could go too. We could've met up for some EDH.

Heading there in an hour for foiled again. Really excited even though I'm not competing the main event, it's my first GP.

I just got home. I participated in the "FOILED AGAIN" side event. Had a blast, but made some serious mistakes.
First, I wasn't watching the clock! I was trying not to rush while organizing my cards. I didn't realize how much time was passing. I looked up and saw I had 5 minutes to construct my deck and just threw together the lowest mana cost cards in an attempt to make sure I could get cards in play. The deck wasn't horrible, but it wasn't a good mix.
Second, I didn't research enough about the card strategies of BFZ and OGW. I was misplaying my Ally cards. My last opponent took the time to explain what I was doing wrong after she won that round. (Thanks, Haley! I do appreciate the advice!!!)
Lastly, this is actually a complaint. The way the Foiled Again side event was described, foil cards would be passed out each round. What they FAILED to say was that the foil cards only went to the WINNER of each round. The way it was worded, I thought EVERYONE would get foil cards. No biggie, but they should word the description more accurately.
I also skipped out on the 3rd and final round simply b/c it was getting late and I need to adult tomorrow morning before I can come back to the Tournament in the afternoon....
