How many people actually...

Have large magic collections on this site? Over the last few days, I've seen many comments saying that most people only play casual magic, online magic etc. and that some of them don't even own paper cards. I guess this was a shock to me. So my question is, how many of you actually own collections or a large cardpool of Legacy and/or Modern cards?

Personally, I own a significantly large modern collection. I would value it at about $10k if I sold it at 60% value.

My collection is very small. I do own a modern deck, standard deck and two commander decks (and some casual decks), but they are mostly cheap decks. Besides that, I own almost no cards. I do have some Khans of Thakir cards, since that's the only box I've ever opened. Besides the deck mentioned above, I think I could sell my collection for about.... 100-200$. It have always amazed me how people make a collection, since I only ever buy singles.

Im currently trying to build my collection although for the most part I have 1 deck for each format legacy is still in the making and I also consider my decks part of my collection other than that though it is not exactly extensive but I dont put much money into singles I trade a lot and I have only been playing for a few years

Large in value or quantity? I have a similarly priced collection as DrFunk27 but mines mostly legacy/high priced edh staples.

I've been collecting on and off since Mirrodin. I have a large bulk / bulk rare collection as well as ~$4k in decks and tradable staples.

I'd put more money into the game if I had a legitimate reason to do so. My local shops suck. I'd love to play modern, but I can't. As a result, I kinda sit around with a collection of $1000 or so. My buddy just got a whole box of cardboard from Revised, however. I have the opportunity to pick up some Birds and Bolts and such for TCGlow. I'm also eyeing a NM underground sea. Might pick that up.

I've only been playing since Theros rolled around, but despite that and budget limitations due to my age, and having to pay for school and crap, I feel like my collection is decenty large. I used to have two competitive Modern decks (RIP Twin), still have Delver at least. Plus some Standard stuff. My collection is worth probably 1.5-2k probably.

Only have about 2k max, gave away 4000 odd cards years ago, including playsets of lili of the veil and karn. When I came back to magic and checked the prices I wish I could punch past me in the face...

I probably own around 1,000 cards which might be worth $300-400. Only a handful of cards are above the $3 range. Obviously I play budget casual.

I have 3 standard decks, 1 modern deck, 5-7 casual decks, and 1 EDH deck. I have a large collection of Commons and uncommons, and I value my actual binder at about 1k. Not a huge collection, but still. I'm working on building my legacy deck, My First Legacy: Armageddon Stax.

I've opened boxes of Origins and Oath, and I'm watching tcg for my chance to order a box of Shadows Over Innistrad.

I've been a serious collector of Modern, Legacy, and EDH over the past 5-6 years after a long hiatus. I have 2-3 competitive Legacy decks, 4-5 competitive Modern decks, and 4-5 competitive EDH decks.

Being a primarily eternal format player, card values typically increase, so my collection (mostly) has gained a ton of value from what I've invested in it.

My collection is maybe $1000 on a good day. I have like zero money to properly invest the way I want to. Once I do get that money, though, I will probably vastly expand my collection.

Not sure on exact size, but total is slightly under $1000 total with decks and collection. Plus tons of unusable cards. I was a little surprised myself when I saw that too. I would think that to play Magic, you have Magic cards.. but I guess not.

I own about 5000 cards, down from 25000 after I 'cleaned house' of all my junk cards. Id say they are valued around 10000$.

Thanks for all the replies! I'm always interested to see the differences in each of our collections and how we enjoy to play the game. I "cleaned house" on my profile, so all the decks listed are decks I have built, or can build from my collection.

I have 3 EDH decks, 1 95% foiled (kinda funny you can't get foil ABUR lol)

2 Pauper decks (Although I'm sure I can build many more)

X Modern decks (Whatever I feel like building) Although I always keep Jund and Mardu Tokens built.

I've recently had an on/off relationship with standard. I enjoy slamming Siege Rhinos, but I got bored. I may build a janky Allies deck just for the hell of it. Drafting is my #1 favorite besides modern but our LGS rarely drafts. insert sad face

I'd value my collection at around 2500 or so. I'm an occasional modern player and maintain several EDH decks.

My collection is prob worth about $7,500. I have played since 4th. Sold all of my cards around Onslaught. When I got back in the game around Return to Ravinca, I was disappointed at what I sold my collection at (lol). Slowly rebuilt by drafting and buying a couple of collections. I have about $1800 invested - not counting event fees.

I have 18 EDH built (15 listed on this site). All my decks listed on this site are real (some may have had upgrades done since being listed / last updated).

I mainly draft or play commander. The closest store drafts every FNM. The other one I play at, has commander games on Saturday (they usually have 2-3 groups of 4-6 players).

And my Kaalia deck thanks you for the Scrubland and Maze of Ith.

Upon review (aka updating my binder), my collection is actually closer to 2.5k! And I've only invested about 800$, excluding tournament fees. :D

I need to stop bringing my binder to school o_O

I think my collection is somewhere in the ballpark of 10k ATM. At the top end, I have playsets of JtMS, Snappy, and Stoneforge (One of which is foil, so I guess not really a playset), one of each Dual, Fetch, and Shock. My most valuable card is Library of Alexandria, which is very nice looking. Pretty much all of the cards I have went into the Cube I'm constantly working on, or are just random EDH staples I have. I also have way too many Promos and Mythics I'll never use. Yay, four Reap Intellect.

I'm an EDH and Cube player, but I'd like to break into Modern maybe one day.

Other random highlights; Crucible of Worlds, Force of Will, Mana Drain, Gaea's Cradle, Lili-Veil, Cavern of Souls Foil, Full sets of Vault Relics and Exiled, Wasteland, Sen Triplets Foil, Damnation Russian, Karn Lib, Arcbound Ravager, Griselbrand Promo, Sword of Light and Shadow Foil Signed, and Cryptic Command Full Art Promo.

I have a small card pool of rares and mythics valued at about $4000. I only bought singles for decks I put together through out the years. I stopped playing a lot of standard because it's an endless money pit, and switched to modern. It's more expensive up front.. But a cheaper investment in the long run.
