After a brief hiatus from the TO community, I would like to say that I am back.
With that said, I would like to say hi to all the regulars here that I talked to on the day to day, (I was going to tag all of you in this, but there's a ton of you guys).
Epochalyptik I DID watch a goat get "sacced" in real life, and totally thought of you, man. True story.
fluffybunnypants I will be on the wall again shortly.
In other news: regarding the standard format. Would you rather play Silumgar, the Drifting Death or Pearl Lake Ancient in UB control? Why?

Knowing nothing about standard at the moment, Silumgar, the Drifting Death seems more resilient while Pearl Lake Ancient would be hitting for more. Personally, I'd go for Silumgar, the Drifting Death

I think you may make the wall at some point on this thread. Your chances quadruple if someone mentions genitalia, life experiences, or alcohol.

Huzzah, now I can read more fun stories! But anyways, to answer your question. Pearl Lake Ancient is typically better since it can't be countered (mirror match), it has flash (so you can also respond if needed), and at absolute worst you can dodge a sweeper. Silumgar, the Drifting Death is cool, but he also doesn't have flash and you wouldn't be running enough other dragons to let him be super effective as a board wipe.

Son, by the time you're landing either, it shouldn't matter.

Right now I am running PLA, because, "Surprise!"
But I was reading somewhere that tokens are a thing, and Silumgar is an asshole to weak dudes.
VampireArmy I am doing good... No Ebola for me. (I was in Liberia during my absence) but now my job has me sitting in quarantine, like an animal. So naturally, I have begun reading about formats that have changed (I am looking at modern, like, whoa).
So now I am metagaming. I like UB because it seems to be up to its balls in card draw and hard counters. AND, every non creature spell in that deck is a promo. So naturally went that route.
It's literally a big giant pile of shiny, promotional NOPE!

Pics or it didn't happen with the promoed out deck

Challenge accepted. I am waiting on the promo Dig Through Times to arrive in the mail as well as the final promo Negate. When I get out of this place in about 11 or 12 days, I will send you a pic. For real though, the only non promo spells are the PLA, the Ashioks, the Silence the Believers, the cruxes and the vaults.
I also want to note that Ugin is too damn much for my blood. So I do not have that one. I would rather spend 200 on a legacy staple.

I'll let the ugin slide because it's not foil. Too for a non foil promo. Fuck that

Play both? That's too many win cons, yo. Lol.
But my deck list is on my page. It's called cauterize. Link don't work.

Fair enough, I would hate to get caught offering sexual favors for a non foil promo... Lol.

Cauterizer. You have to check the "reset slug" to change the slug now. It's in the Edit Deck thing.

Shaheen Soorani, one of the pro's known for their love of control, has stated that the only reason he isn't running two Silumgar is because it is legendary. I personally would go with the Silumgar. It's fantastic and a pain to deal with. It can't close a game out nearly as quickly as PLA but it's much harder to deal with. If you want a unbeatable win con in the mirror , control literally cannot stop Torrent Elemental.
I've been playing UB control since khans was released and I currently like having a Silumgar, a Tasigur, an Ashiok and a PLA main as my win cons. I have a second Ashiok and two Grindclock in the side board as additional win cons. Grindclock is the best card in the mirror match.
It's honestly up to what you prefer. Each is better against certain decklists.

Depends on the meta honestly... Silumgar ducks under Elspeth's minus ability and wrecks tokens. PLA can avoid the minus at the cost of bouncing lands but it also re-buys their scry and lifegain ETBs. One has hexproof, the other can't be countered. The big kicker in my opinion though, is that you can follow up a Silumgar with a Crux of Fate and he won't die to it. In my opinion this makes him slightly better than PLA. But seriously, why not both? :P

Okay, I just got done testing with both in the main. I found a couple problems.
DTT likes to find both at the same time, so then I have to choose which one I want.
The other issue is that I have to find a counter that I don't like to drop for the other win con. Which is hard, since all of my counters are amazing and so far, I have yet to be disappointed to draw one. (4x dissolve, 2x d stroke, negate and dissipate). Oddly enough, I find myself with at least two in hand at all times.
I could see myself cutting a vault for a Silumgar. I will have to look into it more.
