Thought y'all ought to know.
I think that the first two images came out particularly well. Pulling the camera back a bit to get more cards into the shot allowed you to build the visual themes in each image more effectively in comparison to the third and fourth images.
Having Isamaru and Soul Warden placed in the middle and taking up so much space in their respective images draws to much attention to them and just makes the other cards look like excess visual clutter.
I like how you have almost hinted at a story (or just emphasized the nature of the Simic guild) in the first image with the card name text that you have left unobscured. The sequence of "Experiment Kraj", "Manipulator", "Biomancer", "Simic Growth Chamber" is just enough text to support the card imagery you chose and really gets the feel of the Simic guild across.

Thanks for the response, SaberTech.
The first two images are the last ones I took and the last two images were the first two I took (if you can follow that) so I know better now what works and doesn't work.
The Isamaru and Soul Warden ones were meant for my Isamaru Tiny Leaders/EDH and Soul Sister's deck descriptions. So the idea WAS to draw the viewer's eye to a certain point in those cases, but like you say - pulling the camera back does help the viewer choose where to look over smacking them in the face with it..

If you do more photos for decks like your Isamaru deck, maybe you could try having the Commander card on top of the other ones but off to the very left of the photo? That would give it a visual dominance, but then you could have a variety of other cards overlapping each other as your eye moves towards the right side of the photo. It would be like the cards in the deck were intentionally spilling out from under the Commander, as opposed to the Commander looking like they were just the top card of a random pile. It might be a visual format worth testing out if you get around to making more photos.

I'd honestly have assumed these were digital if you didn't tell me.

I like your idea, SaberTech. An intentional visual story over forced random clutter seems the way to go for the future.
So now deck banners is going to be part of my deck-making process lol? Just picking the lands causes a brain aneurysm.

Are you another person who picks lands for their decks by the artwork? I enjoy trying to pick basic lands with illustrations that fit the feel or visual aesthetic of my decks.

Imho. with correct sizes these would make pretty neet wallpapers.

Worked pretty well almost as it was. Hope you don't mind me using it. I don't try to take any credit nor upload it to elsewhere.

That's cool, Luutamo. If you're interested, here's a big ass photo of a bunch of my cards: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ut43akodda0l1mo/MtG%20Cards.jpg?dl=0

I'd say it works pretty well with my home pc setup :) Thanks!

Though I have to say that the touch in first two images is slightly better for the previously mentioned reason: those aren't taken so close. Also, I really like the colors on simic cards.
I think there could be an idea behind all this: making a serie of wallpapers (or materials to use in descriptions) based on colors. Single colors, one for simic, one for selesnya and so on. What do you think? :)

It'd definitely spruce things up a bit on the website. Players get cards altered, decks pimped, deckcycle the same decks everyday, and just all-around put a lot of effort into their decks so a relevant banner might be of interest to some.
