I attended a PPTQ this past Sunday, and it did not go well. Myself and 2 other people were under the impression that sign ups started at 10, and the tournament began at 11. That is what the owner had told us all on friday at fnm. The 3 of us missed the first round, auto losses. So it was a terrible start to the tournament. Next round was close, but i lost that as well. 3rd round i got the bye, and 4th round i won. Placed 12th out of 18. I maintain that I could have made the top 8 if we had the right time for the tournament. I was pretty pissed. Like if I cant trust the word of the LGS owner, who can i trust?
That is all. Im just frustrated about this.
Its was a pretty lousy turn out out this time, the last one had like 34 i think. But yes, i live in a small area, where the scene for magic is not as large as i would like, to say the least.

If it wasn't modern, it doesn't matter.
Also, ask more than once for this sort of things. You need to learn life lessons somehow, and It seems that that's just what happened here.

Jesus. 18 person? The ones near me are like ~150-200.

Yeah Modern PPTQs have poor turnout. Here in Denver a Standard tourney will pull around 50 participants while Modern struggles to hit 25.
Personally had I been misinformed of the start time I wouldn't have gave the TO my money and said fuck it. Feel for ya though. I showed up for a Tuesday night tourney last month at my LGS and they had decided to close for St Patty's. They didn't even make an announcement at the FNM leading up to it, just some Facebook post. 10 of us show up and they kicked us out, was pretty heated.

All I hear is someone complaining who lives in a place where PPTQs only have 18 players in them.
