ChiefBell You aren't reading what I'm writing. I'm not talking about the system, I'm talking about the individuals. This is the third time I'll state this so please read it this time: the. US. Does. Not. Have. A. Fantastic. Health. Care. System. There are plenty of issues with it. I am not arguing with that.
That does not, at all, have anything to do with the statement "we have the best doctors in the world". Having the best doctors and having the best healthcare system are different statements.

I hear Vancouver is gorgeous. I've really only spent time in the Toronto area.
May 24, 2015 11:56 a.m.
kyuuri117 - Well I see that subtle difference. I understand. I was trying to qualify the statement 'best doctors' with some kind of measure.
Vancouver is so, so beautiful.

I think I should visit Canada at least once while I'm physically able to. I just need a reason to

I saw bears just outside Vancouver which was cool. You can do whale watching as well? I think.

You can see wild Coyotes in the desert of my hometown. They're actually fairly nice if you aren't threatening them.

Well, by that I mean it almost went in the road and then happily jogged off.

UK Wildlife is sort of the equivalent of Southern Ontario wildlife. Also Vancouver is super far away...

Where I'm moving to, you don't want to see some of the wildlife, because if you do, it means they're pissed off at you.

So my neighbors put suet out on their porch.... their front porch. I get a frantic call at 6 AM the other day.... there was a bear sitting on their porch happily enjoying the suet. When they screamed questions about what to do over the phone at me, I replied to keep the door locked and hope that it wasn't hungry.
Neighbors... psh... amirite?

So, would anyone else like to comment on the fact that the pic VampireArmy posted makes the guy on the far right look like he's having a Battle of the Bulge?

Well, you really only have to options: avoid them or, if you can't do that, don't act like prey, because you're dead if you do. Assuming you're unarmed, of course.

Does anyone need help on any decks? Just post and I'll give advise. I'm getting bored...
May 24, 2015 1:24 p.m.
If you're talking standard, i'd suggest mono-green aggro. I've gotten top 4 three weeks in a row with it, losing to flood or my own misplays. Only bad matchup is abzan aggro if they are running wingmate roc.
Deck is super fun to play as well. List i'm using is on my profile.

@CanadianShinobi: Kinda late, but here are the basics on the whole socialism thing.
First, it's cultural. America has a longstanding (i.e. pre-Declaration) cultural philosophy that individuals should be in control of their own destiny, especially economically. Your success or failure as an individual in the economy should be based on your ability to understand and make your own decisions. Socialism is therefore seen as a threat to the American system because it argues in favor of the have-nots by taking from the haves. It's the government telling you that you can't keep what you earned and that it instead needs to go to someone who has less. And it's not always seen as "helping a neighbor." Because of the cultural perspective, those with less are often seen as having become failures of their own volition (this is why Americans easily throw around statements like "get a job" - it's not always taken into consideration that there may be extenuating circumstances surrounding an individual's success or failure).
We had two red scares, one in the 1920s and one in the 1950s. The first was a response to the Russian Revolution and the idea that socialism could be infiltrating the American system following the First World War. The second was a response to the Cold War and occurred simultaneously with the height of post-WWII prosperity and the "essence" of Americana: the age of the suburban family of four, their dog, and their white picket fence.
This is all very, very generalized information. There's a lot more behind it, but that's the summary.
May 24, 2015 1:54 p.m.
Its a good indication of the kind of cultural attitudes that underlie public sentiment.

Epochalyptik I understand some of the historical conventions behind it, but it has always been something of a cultural fascination to me. I think this is mostly because most of Western society has proven that the American system is in many ways inherently flawed. And I'm also going to extend this to Canada to some degree because of certain cultural influences that America has had upon our own society, notably the Cold War. But, I suppose one of the things I will never come to terms with is this notion of extreme individualism. That's not to say it is a culturally foreign concept (it isn't), but it just falls outside the realm of my understanding due to my own perspectives and knowledge.

It's hard to get any system right, especially when you're dealing with millions of people with divergent personal philosophies, backgrounds, opportunities, etc.
I was, several months ago, in the middle of trying to design an outline of my personal philosophy. Maybe it's time to return to that.

Another funny thing is that the French government (actually runned by the socialist party) is seen as a pretty left winged party by other countries (especially in the USA), but here this point is constantly questionned... :p

In other news, I had to kill a snake. First-generation Southeastern Asian immigrant mother will not buy that garden snakes are harmless.

Just played the best d&d session.
Dismembered a satyr and used its bloodied leg stumps to create a torch of fur and fat to set an attacking treant on fire.
