One of my friends is complaining that 6$ is expensive for a card.
He doesn't understand my struggle.

FAMOUSWATERMELON says... #8
Well, to be fair, $6 is a lot for a piece of colored paper.
But then again, this is MTG :)
June 19, 2015 9:37 p.m.
Apparently old pokemon tcg is worth a lot. I had $100 without even realizing, and I didn't even play.

True story. I told one of my non-magic-playing friends that my deck was 850$ once and he was like why the fuck would you spend that much on pieces of cardboard? I just shrugged because it's just impossible to explain to non-players.

No one ever has anything to say.
I'm just staring at liliana of the veils prices wondering what happened to this game

HolyFalcon says... #14
I'm wishing MTG wasn't so popular so cards were priced lower.
Think of it this way. Every time you get someone into magic, you increase card prices. You get a new friend to play with, but you increase card prices by a smudge.

eh the rate that happens at is abysmally low. Besides, who the heck jumps in the game like "Yeah I need me a jund tier 1 deck to learn with"
Certainly not the average player

I played Tron at FNM. Went 2-2.
Dear Diary, fuck Bridge from Below and my damned reading skills. The mirror match was terrible too.

Greed mostly. Gamestores, collectors, speculators.
It's my least favorite part of this game as much as a necessary evil it is

What really gets me is that the Moons are the last thing I need for my burn deck. And now I can't afford them.

I got moons but I probably need Fulminator Mages. Modern season feels bad man
June 19, 2015 11:44 p.m.
I'm going to need to pick up 3 fulminators in the near future. My wallet is already hurting haha.
June 19, 2015 11:45 p.m.
Nah, I don't really have many cards for trade haha. I used to give away staples to friends to get them into magic, so I don't really have much to trade with anymore. Pretty much the only cards of value I have are in my b/w token deck and my Ghave deck.

Out of curiosity, what got everyone into their staple archetype?

I wanted a cheap deck to get into modern with and I expanded off of a $70 version I bought of a friend.
June 19, 2015 11:55 p.m.
NoPantsParade says... #27
Yeah, my wallet's hurting right now, too. I was going to wait to buy two Ugins when they rotated so the price would drop a bit, but since I was going to play in FNM, I bought two. First play of the game I find out our store lets us proxy.
And, Canadian, I wanted to play stupid stuff in modern, so I built Tron.

Today I visited Barnes and Nobles on a whim and found the first volume of the Devil is a Part Timer light novels. Later when I revisited with a friend who wanted to get the light novel too, we stumbled upon the first two novels of Sword Art Online Progressive. We proceeded to buy those as well and geek out over the fact that we found two of our favorite animes' light novels.
It's been a good day.
June 19, 2015 11:57 p.m. Edited.
The two cards Empty the Warrens and Nivix Cyclops got me into delver and Deathrite Shaman and Abrupt Decay got me into Jund/Bug in non modern formats.
June 19, 2015 11:57 p.m.
Back when I was a filthy casual I would look up random cards on gatherer. A friend wanted me to make him a mono white soldier deck. While I made it for him, I stumbled across things like Glorious Anthem and Spectral Procession, and made my first token deck. Fell in love with tokens ever since then.

That's a legitimate reason.
I built Kaalia because I was like "hur durrr big stompy things yaaas" and it was trash but here I am a year later and it's quite the powerhouse in my playgroup.

Heh. I built my janky Kruphix deck because I wanted to fill it with cards I like and some 10 card glass cannon combo. The rest of the deck just makes me people mad.

Do you ever read things that you once said that make you want to facedesk really hard? Like I'm going through my scrubday comments and here are some examples of things that once came out of my mouth.
Midnight Haunting was more intended for white and black token decks, not mono white.
this (meaning mono white tokens) is actually better than b/w tokens in my opinion
I was scrub of all scrubs. I was the very scrub I now help today.

I hate control, Canadian. I'd rather see a T3 Karn start exiling my Urza lands followed by another Karn then Ugin in the mirror than play control.

It's not much of a story. See, before I got into Magic I did a lot of reading up on the game. I decided Blue was the best colour because it was versatile and aggro decks just seemed really boring because what good was a game of strategy if it was over so quickly?
Pretty much I became a Control player because nothing else was appealing. Unlike most people I don't have one deck I love. I'm just generally Blue with splashes of everything.
Oh, slight lie. Standard has an Esper Dragon deck. It amuses me to no end. It has Dragons (an old love) and control!

I hate packs. I only ever open them during a prerelease or casual drafting and my value is always absolute shit but the deck somehow does well with all the junk I get.
