Modern isn't everything. Look at Legacy and Vintage and tell me that blue is bad.

June 20, 2015 4:07 p.m.

VampireArmy says... #3

It's everything to me :0. Besides there's still storm and reanimator in legacy

June 20, 2015 4:09 p.m.

bigguy99 says... #4

Both Storm and Reanimator are dependent on blue, as well as Delver, Stone/Deathblade, Miracles, and most other decks.

June 20, 2015 4:11 p.m.

VampireArmy says... #5

I'd say they rely on black a lot more. Sure blue helps get you there or maybe protects your combo but you literally couldn't play the decks without the reanimation spells or the actual storm card huehue

I do actually tire of the age ol "blue iz duh besht hur dur" stuff though. Beyond my trolling i am legitimately a little over it :)

I'm sorting a friends lands. He has a shit load for some reason.

June 20, 2015 5:50 p.m.

Depression, anxiety, infrequent issues with blacking out from stress, voices in my head. But this probably isn't something for Just Chatting, is it? Not anymore.

Someone very close to me has extreme levels of OCD, and has displayed several things of what you're talking about. If you need someone to talk/vent to just enable chat with me.

June 20, 2015 5:59 p.m.

Probably anxiety related. A psychologist can help. A therapist can too.

If nothing else, having someone there to listen to you, that has knowledge of the subject could help you quite a bit. Do you already have a meeting set up?

I do not have an appointment set up yet. I haven't been to any kind of health care professional (barring eyes and teeth) in years. Too much money tied up in my brother's health stuff to use any of the insurance coverage.

June 20, 2015 10:51 p.m.

xzzane yes, clearly! Didn't you know these things? If you play good cards you must obviously hate everyone and not enjoy Magic at all. Sheesh!

@ItchiUchiha117: I suffered from crippling depression for a number of years. Now, I'm the single most ambitious and motivated person in my group, and any episodes are rare and extremely brief. I didn't see any therapists or counselors, and I refused to get medication. I barely talked to my family about it, and I hid it from all but my closest friends. In some ways, I prolonged and worsened it. But in others, I beat it on my terms—the only terms I'd ever accept. For better or worse, I overcame it through force of will. I was too stubborn to permit anything else.

Depression is an ugly fucking monster. It will convince you that you can't beat it. It will trick you with illusions and force you to hasty conclusions. It will make you think that you can't do the things you would most dearly love to do. It may even make you think that you're valueless.

But you must never stop fighting it. Get help if it's available to you. Reach out to friends and family. Motivate yourself, whether it's through loved ones or personal ambition. Don't allow yourself to stop doing what you know you should be doing. Think very carefully and very often on what is and isn't true. Part of what helped me was meticulously analyzing triggers and outcomes until I had a detailed understanding of how my problems were affecting me and what I could do to overcome them.

Oh yeah, he also thought I was a little kid for some unknown reason. No clue why. Then he complained about bad draws the entire game and whenever I played a hand disruption spell he would complain and whine even more. His entire deck consisted of cards like Hornet Queen and random planeswalkers like Kiora, the Crashing Wave, Ajani Vengeant and Vraska the Unseen. With all basics. When I tried pointing out that his deck would be better if he used better lands and lowered his curve he said no, because, and I quote, "my late game is amazing".

June 20, 2015 11:35 p.m.

Wow, I uh, wasn't really expecting something like that from you, Epoch. Thank you for the advice. I'm not entirely sure what to say. Not very good with words, honestly.

June 21, 2015 12:09 a.m.

ItchiUchiha117 He's always watching. Like a lonely god who eats goats for breakfast.

In all seriousness, I too have suffered from depression. And to those here with a good memory, I've made a fool of myself in those moments. But, Epoch has sound advice. Don't give up and do everything in your power to seek help. Don't let this be what defines you. Well, don't let it be the only thing that defines you. I find that those with mental illness are defined by those illnesses in one way or another. But that doesn't have to be a bad thing. You can take this demon and turn it to your benefit. For me, my depression is what is driving me to find more to life than simply finding a girl, having 2.5 kids and working a 9-5 job. I want to see the world. I want to make an impact, even if it means only inspiring a single student to achieve something beyond what they think they can.

Do not settle for the easy path. Fight for something, drive yourself to do what you want to do. Passion is important, but also be smart about it. Have a plan and then have a million back up plans. But, never stop moving forward. Depression. Anxiety. These are terrible afflictions to have. More so than people often realize. They cripple the will and can take a toll on the body. But, do not give up. Even if life begins to feel worthless, or devoid of meaning, do not give up. Life is worth living, but it is up to you to live it.

shrug Those are just my thoughts though. Sorry I took so long to chime in, but I wanted to be sure I knew what I want to say.

You know your job has zero respect for you when this happens.

Yesterday was outrageously busy and on top of that we were grossly understaffed and on top of that management decided hey let's go donate half our carts to an event for the day! So they got returned an hour before we closed...except with 30 more than we gave. Guess who got to deal with that? Yep.

So i was like fuck it. I put 40 extra carts inside than i normally do because i knew it would be pouring all day and i knew i wasn't going to be in till 11 so i wanted some breathing room to help me out when i got here.

Nope. The sales floor people took ALL of the extra ones and i got left waaaaay behind immediately as i show up. Its not like they needed them either. They fill half a cart. Put away some stuff then leave it in the aisle to get a new one. If they empty one? They leave it in the aisle to get a new one still. It's up to me to clean up after everyone.

On top of this it's almost as busy as it was yesterday.

I can't handle this much stress

Are you just going to wait until you can move back to California to get a new job?

bigguy99 Yea I preordered narsets at $40. I never buy into walker hype but decided to try for this. Oh well. Still, I think she woulda been fantastic and would have stayed at least at $30 if Ojutai wasn't so damn strong.

And i'm using her as a two of in my modern deck. Rebounded Lingering Souls is kinda stupid.

VA, Are you actively looking for other employment at the moment? There is opportunity out there. Hit up workforce recruiters. Look into construction, driving, or some night classes to learn a trade. I don't know what your area is like, but maybe you could put your info in other areas, and see if anything is available.

I do not like charities that take so much off the top. I have been thinking of starting a charity. One that I would take 0 compensation from. I would find a range of charities that I feel maximize funds to help those who they claim to.

I would act as middleman to other charities. I am thinking "Nerds for Humanity", or maybe something a little more broad. I have not locked this all down yet, just spit-balling at the moment.

Donations could be taken in as money, or items. Video games, MtG cards, and tons of items. Could use ebay auctions to do this. When someone donates, they can then choose the charity, from a list, that they would like proceeds to go to.

I could use viral causes as well. If someone is in dire need of funds for a life saving event for example.

There may be costs involved, and I might have to have those covered through it, but I would not consider my time, and effort into that.

I was just thinking that I could turn unused cards/items into money to help people in need.

Anyone have any thoughts on this? Is this less of a new idea then I think? Critics needed. I want to know if this would be worth my time, and if it could provide real help.

Doesnt Starcity have a charity they run or sponsor for gamers? Maybe contact them if you are interested in getting involved in that.

Secondly, why is nobody more excited for a reprint of Elvish Visionary? It's a better card than most printed rares, is probably the best card they've spoiled so far, and we're getting it back in standard.

  1. My younger brother didn't actually know how to play Pokemon.

  2. Pokemon boosters are WAAAAY overpriced.

  3. How to play Pokemon.

  4. Pokemon Online's interface is way better than MTGO's.
