Remember that Antarctica is a barren desert. The only people there are researchers. Think about who you want to take on this trip.

Today I got a Monstercat Gold trial license for entering their mixing contest. I spent all of today downloading all past and current Monstercat music I could ever want for the low price of free, which leaves me money to spend on future releases :D

Just got first for the first time in a sealed event, felt pretty good. 2-0'd all five rounds, deck was phenomenal.

I love how this site gets quiet as fuck on the weekends

I often times get loud and rowdy. Mostly indoors 'cause...
Other times soft spoken of not very projecting voice.

ThisIsBullshit it compensates for the weekday saltiness.

ABadMagicPlayer100 I played Black/White control.
My creature curve was 2 Fetid Imp, a Topan Freeblade, foil Relic Seeker, and Hangarback Walker as two drops (with hangarback walker being a curve filler anytime needed). 2 Fleshbag Marauder's, a Guardians of Meletis, 2 Deadbridge Shaman as three drops. And a Totem-Guide Hartebeest, a Patron of the Valiant and a Kothophed, Soul Hoarder as my top end.
For spells, I had a Unholy Hunger, two Cruel Revival (which was absolutely phenomenal with the Fleshbag Marauders), a Celestial Flare, a Touch of Moonglove, a Read the Bones, a Throwing Knife (which I could get with the relic seeker), a Swift Reckoning, a Suppression Bonds and a Knightly Valor, both of which I could tutor with the Hartebeest.
Lastly, I had a rogue's passage. Also, my only sideboard card of worth was Eyeblight Massacre. And let me tell you, that card is the absolute nut in sealed. It not only saved my ass four different times against four different decks, it did as advertised and absolutely massacred my opponents board state all four times. R/W aggro and R/U Thoptors would just flood the board game two and massacre would just virtually end the game on the spot.

I'd like to think its cause I'm not active much anymore ThisIsBullshit. :P
Idk, I miss how this community used to be.
Back when I could actually get GOOD advice on deck lists. Now I get stuff like "why are you running Steel Hellkite in mono tron?!?!1"
The good deck builders are either gone or silent. It's aggravating.

I mean, you could begin forming your own little group of active and competent Modern players and organize them for mutual playtesting and deck feedback amongst the group.

I'm a really, really, really casual player, but I'd like to think I have some good advice in Modern. So if you ever need someone to look somehting over or help out, I am more than willing too.
July 18, 2015 5:13 p.m.
Noises, why not ask questions on the modern forum? A lot of the more experienced modern players talk there.

Not the point, what I mean is that I just miss the old T/O
It's not just modern, it's just in general and it spans across the formats. I was just using modern as an example of recent events.
I've noticed just a general decline of useful comments in the last 6 months. Too much fat and too little meat.
You guys are different, for the most part. You are willing to discuss a addition/subtraction rather than just "Add this" with no actual thought behind the why.

Magicrafter that's the kind of stuff I'm referring to, though that specific one was fairly common even back then but that is the general gist of it.

I especially don't like it when they recommend a card that has no possible way of even functioning in any deck outside of a Cyber Dragon Yu-Gi-Oh deck.
Sometimes I think people just suggest cards because "they're the same color!"
July 18, 2015 7:37 p.m.
I have started to move away from tappedout in general and towards interacting with certain users I get on with. There's a lot of just.... mediocrity that goes around. Also a lot of people that I have a suspicion don't actually play?

Is the comment tutorial even mandatory? There needs to be a mandatory one with a courtesy reminder every month for each user.

Epochalyptik says... #29
The user count has kind of ballooned over the past two years. One result of that is, unfortunately, that we have many more low-level players who don't yet have a strong enough grasp of different game concepts to offer cogent advice to higher-level players.
I don't fault them for trying because they should eventually learn the difference between casual, FNM, and GP/PT level play, but it's certainly taxing for veterans to explain certain ideas repeatedly on their own decks or deflect bad advice given in the forums. I can't even guess at the number of times I've had to explain why Mikaeus, the Unhallowed+Triskelion and other cards aren't viable in Dominus - Dreamcrusher Edition, and, while I don't mind clarifying the operation of the deck and the nature of tournament level play, it does get very exhausting to see the same bland suggestions made without fail.
If you can think of a site feature that might help alleviate some of these problems, I'm open to pitches. I thought briefly about getting rid of the "casual" and "competitive" hubs and giving decks an owner-selected "level" or "competitiveness" from casual to FNM to tournament, but that would be somewhat clunky to display and would have a reasonably high potential for misuse.

More users means more trolls, more people who don't understand the game, but it also means more people who do. In other words, another generation.
July 18, 2015 8:10 p.m.
Epochalyptik says... #32
@Magicrafter: It would be unreasonable to expect users to complete the tutorial monthly or even yearly. I learned early on that users don't really respond well to education; either they won't take the time to educate themselves or they won't bother implementing any of the knowledge being offered. Unless the "proper" way to do something is more convenient and obvious than the improper way, they'll continue to do things improperly. That's why we still have people regularly posting rules questions outside of the Q&A, despite the banner right above every new thread field.

HolyFalcon says... #33
Yeah, I can see the Island decks and such labeling themselves as competitive.
July 18, 2015 8:11 p.m.
HolyFalcon says... #34
@ Epochalyptik: That is a very true statement, I see the Rules questions not in the Q&A a lot. Some people in this world will never listen to rules or education, as you said. At this point, it's probably better to ignore some of the worse users of the site. No, I don't mean casual players who don't understand why fetches are good (tell them if they don't), I mean the trolls.

I need new music, does anybody around here listen to metal? And if so what do you recommend?
July 18, 2015 8:23 p.m.
Epochalyptik says... #36
It's not even the trolls that are the issue here. If someone is giving you shit advice on purpose, you can block them and be done with it.
The "issue" is that there's no effective way for less astute players to learn the differences between the levels of competition without educating themselves (which rarely happens because it requires the player to be aware of his or her own ignorance and be motivated to dispel it) or seeing/giving inappropriate advice and being educated by more knowledgeable players.
It's a simple reality for any neophytic group in any hobby or field of study.
And it's not something this site is really prepared to solve for anyone. The best we could do is find a way for reasonable users to either self-identify their level of expertise or identify the actual or desired competitiveness of a deck and thus network with other players of their caliber and browse other decks within their grasp. But I can't think of a simple and effective solution that would improve the situation for us.

I will second the vote for Five Finger Death Punch. Good music to drive to, in my opinion.
Also, I find it funny that the mental health care professional (apologies, I always forget which is which and which you are, Chief) likes a group called Cynic. Not sure why, I just do.
