xzzane Up, where I live we got a lot of those. The frogs are so damn loud at night. It's even louder because we keep the windows open to cool down the house. They kinda sound like Uber crickets.

I don't have a cheater story. But this guy at my lgs loses his shit after matches. Whenever he loses due to something like mana screw, he talks about how shitty his deck is, and switches decks, which is possible for him because he owns literally every tier 1-1.5 deck in modern.

I finished washing my car wash cloths and put them in the dryer thingy at night just now. The dryer puts off a bright white light in the back and because the cloths are either blue, yellow, or green, it's like a light show. It's dank as shit. So I turned on some Pink Floyd, and now I'm just watching it.

Is someone a scrub if a friend has a deck and a person is doing really badly because he thought his deck wouldn't even win 1 game, and he asks to borrow the friends deck?( if so I'm calling my friend a scrub)

Just posted this on Facebook but i want your opinions too

Just had an insane idea for a book. So let's assume all religions are real. The catch is those deities are fueled and kept alive by the belief in them. The problem? As time goes on everyone on earth stops believing. In one last vicious attack, they collectively bring about the apocalypse. The survivors now believe but there are no more gods left to keep the world together. The remaining tribes now have to rebirth their god. How does that sound?

Like the Idea is you have to reawaken your God in order to have a shot at the afterlife. What i haven't worked out is how to create tee conflict that decides how to do that

July 31, 2015 10:25 p.m.

trollslayer says... #11

Don't put lots of swear words in it and not really many intament scenes and I would read it. 1 or 1 1/2 is fine.

July 31, 2015 10:29 p.m.

VampireArmy says... #12

Lol i don't think romantic themes would suit it well. Oh! Why would having an afterlife matter? Imagine you can't pass on. You can't become a ghost either. you become what I'm going to call a shell. That is your stuck inside your body. Unable to to anything but feeling the agony of endless death until you pass on

You can say that again, Tibs.

I guess I'd read it. I don't read very often, but when I do, it's normally factual books about music or biographies about musicians and people like that.

Fuck yeah look at that brutal double post

To answer your question, Vamp, I would read it.

July 31, 2015 10:43 p.m.

I'd definitely read it. It sounds pretty interesting, and of course the plot is basically endless. Also, any book that gives itself a politically correct way to discuss religion is awesome.

I felt bad for a moment because i thought i was ripping off theros

July 31, 2015 10:47 p.m.

I'd read it VampireArmy. Sounds very intriguing, definitely not something I would have ever thought about until you brought it up, just the way I like my books, something I wouldn't expect to see anywhere else.

Just don't forget all the gods' names: Akatosh, Kynareth, Arkay, Talos, Stendarr, Julianos, Zenithar, Dibella, and great lady Mara.

I love purphoros and thoughtsieze out of that block and just about nothing else

July 31, 2015 11:11 p.m.

If we're talking the whole block, Eidolon of the Great Revel is the shit, Mana Confluence is pretty good....annnd that's about it except Prophet of Kruphix is dumb in EDH

July 31, 2015 11:18 p.m.

VampireArmy says... #25

Dude purphoros pretty much rekindled a dead loved for edh for me. Though i just want to build a deck with as much broken synergy as possible now.

Limited Theros was amazing. Not BNG or JOU, THS-THS-THS was a blast.

July 31, 2015 11:49 p.m.

Theirs was definitely meh.

Is it just me, or is Origins kinda disappointing? I mean, there are some great cards in there don't get me wrong, and I like it nonetheless because it is a fun set. But... For what is supposedly the last core set, I was kinda bummed it wasn't more... Awesomer.

July 31, 2015 11:55 p.m.

HolyFalcon says... #29

We didn't even get Gilded Lotus or something. Or even a freaking card that draws 3 cards. Or any extra turn cards.

August 1, 2015 1:41 a.m.

So, anyone wanna help me compare the reasons why running green in GroupHug is better than red? (W/U is already guaranteed, I just am having second thoughts about the 3rd color)

August 1, 2015 12:08 p.m.

VampireArmy says... #33

Red has more destructive effects. Green has Creation effects

August 1, 2015 12:18 p.m.

That, is a really good point :P

So then my question is, would red's destruction effects work better to balance out all the players, or will green's creation effects?

August 1, 2015 12:22 p.m.

VampireArmy says... #35

Depends. Red has land destruction field wipes group damage wraths and mana denial.

Green has ramp tokens life effects ect

So, I'm drafting my next article, what deck should I do? It has to Modern under 150$. At the moment I'm doing Rakdos Vampires.

August 1, 2015 12:31 p.m.

filledelanuit says... #37

I have most of an article about stompy. The full deck isn't much more than $100. You can also build mono red burn for about $100 although you don't get Blood Moons.

As an aside, who should I talk to get an article published? Epoch, Yeago, Chief, some one else?

August 1, 2015 12:59 p.m.

Chief helped me with mine, although I think he's kinda busy rn.

Guys, I need more help.

So I have a cousin who's really into history. 9 yrs old. His birthday's tomorrow, and I wanna get him into Magic. I'm thinking of using an ORI intro pack, any ideas?

(If anyone's curious, I've resolved my family issues.)

August 1, 2015 1:21 p.m.

HolyFalcon says... #40

hm. get him either the Elves intro or the Artifacts intro.

August 1, 2015 1:24 p.m.

Imma say artifacts.

August 1, 2015 1:26 p.m.

HolyFalcon says... #42

Elves Intro pack and maybe get him a deck box and some sleeves. Let him know the importance of sleeves from the beginning.

August 1, 2015 1:28 p.m.

6tennis says... #43

I think Elves too. K, I don't feel like getting Dragon Shields, so imma just pick up a few UltraPro and a basic deck box.

August 1, 2015 1:36 p.m.

HolyFalcon says... #44

Yeah, just get like the new ORI Nissa Sleeves and Nissa dekbox.

August 1, 2015 1:45 p.m.

Also, if your LGS has die in a bowl get one d20 for him and maybe 3 or 4 d6's.

Does anyone else think that the current system to determine rankings at FNM needs to be changed? It just doesn't make sense to me.

We went five rounds last night, with 41 people (draft). A friend and I were both 4-0, so instead of going the scheduled six rounds, the game owner cut to five since there would be only one undefeated person (store rules, he hates cutting to top eight). However, another one of my friends, who had gotten a draw in the first round, was 3-0-1 going into round five. Because of that draw, he was able to get "paired down" the entire night, and played people who were X-1. He had built a very powerful U/B control deck, and was able to really take advantage of this.

I ended up losing, didn't draw mana sources in games two and three, and my friend with the draw ended up winning his match, putting him at 13 points and myself at 12 points. I had fantastic tie breakers (since I had been in first going into round five), so I ended up at third. Needless to say, while third is fine, I was very bitter about it. Especially as I felt that I had had to play better opponents all night. In fact, I was more bitter about the fact that I was getting third because my friend forced a tie in a game was going to lose (due to him being U/B Control and playing slow games), than I was about getting mana screwed against my friend in the finals when I had the better deck. Worse, I felt bad about being bitter, since he's my friend and I'm glad he did well as well. I just think it's bullshit that I went from first place in the rankings going into round five, to third place because of a tie, especially since he had easier games all night.

My owner doesn't cut to top eight, which would solve the problem, because he doesn't want to be there until three-four in the morning. I made my twelve dollars back in store credit, but getting knocked down to third lost me another 12 in store credit and a Path to Exile FNM promo.

I think the system makes sense in a big tournament setting where there are thirteen-sixteen rounds and they cut to top eight, but in a smaller tournament setting, I feel like draws should be penalized more than they are.

Sorry for the rant. Not as upset as I was last night, but I'm still just kinda down about it. Felt like I wasted my whole night since I was really trying to focus on playing well and ended up getting screwed up at the end.

August 1, 2015 5:50 p.m. Edited.

filledelanuit says... #50

No offense but you are being very reactionary about this. First of all a person who is x-y-1 (in the draw bracket) has increased variance because they have a better chance of both being paired up and being paired down. Secondly you can't have a deck that takes advantage of being paired down, that's just called a good deck. Standard doesn't have the insanely lopsided matchups that legacy (and occasionally modern) has. You have no reason to believe that the guy on UB control wouldn't have done just as well if he had played against people who were x-0. You're attributing correlation with causation but correlation doesn't imply causation.

As for your suggestions that draws should be punished more, what do you actually recommend?
