So, I am wanting to start an economy/world markets thread in BE, but was not sure if there would be participation or not.
Last few business days, today included, have been quite a roller coaster. 20 min until japan opens up, and China in just under 2 hours.
Any takers on this subject?

I would be a taker, how much did the DOW loose overall today? I say a 1000 points down early today cause China, but I never looked to see how it fared after that.
My NPR is really useful for this kind of info.
EDIT: Overall it only lost 600.

It has to rank as one of the largest single day losses in history. I would be interested to see where it measures up.

It is the largest single day point swing in history though pulling in at whopping 1089.43 point swing.
And it ranks 8th overall in net loss for one day, number one was 9/29/08 with a net loss of 777.68 points on the day. The next month after that pulls #2 with a 733.08 point net loss.
2008 really sucked huh, for everyone really.

I remember where I was that day that the market lost 770. I visiting a friend that was retired from wall street. He is a very smart man. Really was able to teach me, and put things into perspective.

It's because china introduced artificial stimulation by changing the rules about how people withdrew their money etc. So now that these rules are loosening people are withdrawing / selling stock and boom you have a 7.5% fall in the Chinese economy. This correction has sent our markets crumbling as foreign investors just suddenly became a lot less wealthy and it demonstrates that artificial measures to control stock price won't work long-term. This isn't the worst thing to happen though IF it doesn't turn into a long-term crash. It's about time we lost faith in a controlled eastern economy.

trollslayer It was great, thanks. The school almost doubled in size this year (to be fair, it only had 12 kids in the high school last year). A lot of the teachers got swapped. I'm doing a lot of interesting stuff, though, so that's great. Namely Latin III and Statistics.

Ask!! Do it!! I found out that a random adult on the local robotics team played a while ago and I bought old cards from him (Scrubland, Savannah, Wheel of Fortune, Armageddon, all for $110). He apparently had a full set of revised :O
Its worth it, trust me.

I built Derevi artifact Voltron. Probably one of the hardest to stop decks I have.
I always have a 2/3 commander for 4 with flash.
Since it's "put" I can get around Nevermore and counter magic.
Sorta broken.

For any crazy deck brewers, I was thinking about this after the Vintage champs yesterday: Notion Thief + Day's Undoing could probably end a lot of modern games in some form of cruel control deck...

On that topic Iv been thinking of Day's Undoing+some form of punishment for drawing a card deck. I know there's a deck or there, I just forgot the name of it. It was awhile ago. And it didn't have days undoing.
