I appreciate that analysis, Ohthenoises, it makes me much less sad about losing my only modern deck. Time to convert to Grixis Delver! rip twin :'(

The problem with the Twin banning is that it goes completely against WotC's banning an entire deck. It would have made MUCH more sense banning Deceiver Exarch. Oh, and on another note, UR Twin hadn't changed at all in many many years, so the "printing new cards" logic is pointless. The entire reason why Twin did so well and was able to stay in UR was because it had a 4 toughness blue creature that comboed with Twin. Without it, the deck is a lot more fragile due to inconsistency and Blood Moon.
The reason I think WotC banned Twin is because the cards in that set are hard to reprint. We all know that WotC just wants to make more money, and one of the ways they do that is by generating more sales on products that have a reprint of a highly sought-after card. Basically, sales generated by reprint hype. Since Twin is hard to reprint cards for, they lose sales through it. Banning it means that decks that have cards that are easier to reprint for will go up in price in the secondary market. The higher the price, the more hype generated through the reprint.

Femme_Fatale That's all well and good until you realize that WotC has been banning decks since Eggs.
Eggs died, pod died, and now bloom and twin will die.
(I've been seeing people saying that bloom will survive and I can say for certain it wont. In much the same way that Eggs didn't survive the Second Sunrise ban. Sure, there was Open the Vaults but it's horrible. Same for all of bloom's fallbacks.)

Eggs and Pod had a little more justification to them. Twin doesn't, and Titan can still technically stay around by WotC's justification.
Another reason is that WotC wants the live tournaments to look "fancy" to investors. They've been focusing on who's been winning and what decks generate top 8 results over most others. Both Twin winning a lot of the tournament percentages and that Bloom Titan fiasco that happened just once are cause for their attention. What I think is that WotC doesn't believe that instant win or quick win decks aren't interesting to investors. Games that have things on the table that they can track easily (remember, the investors don't actually play magic) are more interesting to them then all of the sudden a lot of shit happens that doesn't make sense to them or all of the sudden someone wins out of nowhere.

Femme_Fatale As I explained, twin has the same reasons to ban that pod did. It was being oppressive in it's representation percentage and it was going to prevent R&d from printing good U/R spells/creatures.
That's the justification given for the pod banning and it's the same reason that they banned twin, they just worded it differently this time.
As far as bloom they said the same EXACT thing about Eggs when it was banned. "we don't want to destroy the deck completely but we are banning the centerpiece of the deck." Sure, there are other "options" but none of them are competitively viable. In that sense they definitely killed the deck.

For other smokers, have you ever noticed or felt like this?
I haven't smoked in about 16 hours and am feeling Euphoria. Like, my body feels weird and good like I am smoking Spice. There is the lingering feeling of wanting a cigarette but that's because I'm frustrated because I'm dizzy with all this oxygen I'm not used to having.
I usually smoke a pack every couple days but last week I was smoking a pack a day (finals for 2 classes) and then cut it back big time the last 36 hours, completely stopping the last 16 since I ran out.
Usually when I run out of ciggs I just notice I get pissed off but now I feel pretty crazy good.
Oh also is there something about the chemicals used in drywalling or the stuff you put over it that can make you high because some guys were over earlier to fix my bathroom wall.

I've been mostly taking a break from Magic, considering how cost-intensive it's become, but now that Oath of the Gatewatch has come out, and now that I just got a substantial amount of money for my birthday, I figure I might take a crack at it again. I should be back permanently and start making decks soon.

Concussion/accident/insurance update: Looks like I will be able to get up to 20K when I file my injury claim, new computer ahoy! (Expecting about 10K) But concussion wise, I'm out of commission for another week because the want me to still be on "do as little as possible" plan for another week. :(

@ThisIsBullshit: Hand-picked the parts, broke out a bench vise, and got to work.
I built an AR-15. They're really not that complicated to make, provided you played with Legos or K'NEX as a kid or have a basic comprehension of mechanics. Apart from the price, the only issue is getting the appropriate torque on the barrel nut (which is the collar that keeps the barrel attached to the gun) and properly attaching the gas block (which gets easier and easier with newer models, especially set screw models). Everything else is just a matter of locking parts like the trigger into place with retaining pins or roll pins.
Spent $2000 on the gun, probably $200 on tools (quality ones that will last me the rest of my life), and another $800 or so to get an EOTech holographic sight and a 500-lumen SureFire.
@VampireArmy: Been there. You just have to find something that motivates you, to be honest. I lift, read, study, and shoot. I also like my job and actively plan my career advancement. Even if you don't have all of those things, you can find some of them for yourself.

Just went to an Oath draft for FNM, and drafted 2 Hedron Alignments. I went 2-2, but had so much fun though. Too bad nobody else did though. My deck was literally 2 alighnments, a bunch of removal and counters, and a single Sphinx of the Final Word. I'd use my alighnments to find the Sphinx, play it, kill everything, and win. It made each individual game last 15+ minutes, but it was glorious. GLORIOUS.

That aside, try to find something to keep you motivated. That's how I keep going. Works well enough often enough. Occasional ruts are unavoidable, but you can at least get out of the gullies.

Lol I do a lot of wheeling and dealing for my friends online, they'll come up to me and go "hey I pulled insert expensive card here, can you trade it for cards I need in this deck?"
It's great, improves my rep online and with my friends, and I get to extort them for stamps.

So my partner and I played 2HG last night and did pretty poorly...went 1-3, losing to bad beats, bad draws, and (I admit it!) my misplays, perhaps because I hardly slept since Thursday. Anyhow, it's banded payout...so we get one pack of OGW.
My partner pulled a Wasteland Expedition!!!!
I was a bit jealous, but I was mostly just happy for him. What a great pull!
