I finally get the hair joke...
Shouldn't have taken me that long.

What I'm trying to say here is that starving your friends to death in the desert isn't all that different from dropping a Smokestack, Static Orb, and some other nastiness in a game of Commander.

But the objective for the other game is for everybody to stay alive together as opposed to a free for all in Magic

When everyone got bored of their characters, I ran a campaign where it ended with a pit fight between all of them and the winner then had to beat the big baddie of the campaign. The players loved it.

I mean, if you're the only evil character in a party full of good characters, your objective becomes kill everyone as quickly as possible in a way that doesn't get you murdered.

@ThisIsBullshit but I wanted their stuff.
see, I realized my mistake too late. If I kept them barely alive, I could basically dictate what they do by threat of death.
I control how they live, I control how they think.

I still don't understand why you'd kill your entire party.

@ThisIsBullshit i don't know the exact reason either. I just really felt like doing it.

I wanna build standard tribal vamps again when SOI comes around but i don't think i can because i don't think they're going to have the "slith" ( as in like Rakish Heir) ability this time which kind of Sucks because drana kind of has that and the synergy would be awesome. Also Vampiric Fury used to win me games. I wonder if it could still.

Got on the wrong train. Ended up in Concord. Took me an hour and a half to get back to a station that I could transfer to the proper train. Now I have another 45 minute ride to my stop

I am disappointed with my brother. He had to write an imitation of a letter from Shakespearan times, and not a single unnecessary "e." Also, what the heck is an "aristocat?" Although, that would be a fun deck to play...

In mtg terms, it's a creature that sacrifices other creatures to gain abilities or buffs. Made popular by Falkenrath Aristocrat and Cartel Aristocrat.
In real life, it was a person with a lot of Wealth and power.

VampireArmy He said aristocat not aristocrat. (not sure if this was an intentional typo)

Ohthenoises It was intentional. I know what an aristocrat was.

An ariatocat is a Disney character.

TheNextRedDude You never know, so many trolls nowadays.
In other news I won my commander tourney today with my new sidisi deck. SUPER fun. Not too much on the interaction front but when you have a 20/20 Mortivore and a 11/11 Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord in play people die fast.
Also, having a Whip of Erebos in play with Necrotic Ooze, Grimgrin, Corpse-Born, and Bloodline Keeper Flip in the grave generally means someone is dying.

Just think of all the fond memories you are making by working in retail! :p

Maybe I'm just weird, but I've actually enjoyed my time working retail. Could be the fact that I'm not at large chain stores though.

I don't hate the job persay. I hate the higher ups who fuck you over a weekly basis with a smile on their face. I also strongly dislike when a stranger speaks at me in certain tones not to mention the rude shit people will do to get your attention. Whistling at you, clapping, yelling, ect.
"Give me one of those"
"Unlock this i need one"
Maybe I'm just a little neurotic about how people interact with me
March 1, 2016 2:55 p.m.
No, you're normal. People generally expect to be treated with a degree of dignity. For some reason, people in the US feel like employees can be treated like less than that.
March 1, 2016 4:32 p.m.
Ohthenoises says... #27
To be fair in some cases it's deserved.
I was in a Kmart the other day and did about 6-7 laps around the store before I found someone not at a register to come unlock a thumb drive in the back of the store.
No one at the service counter, no one in electronics, no one in jewelry, finally found someone and she told me "I'm about to go on break, sorry" When I told her she was the first person I'd seen she said "OK! FINE!" like it was my fault.
Not saying this is you.
March 1, 2016 4:38 p.m.
Just got told by the artist that my alters are done and that I should have em in a week, very happy with how they turned out!
March 1, 2016 4:43 p.m.
It's not their fault they work for a massive company that employs far too few people per store and if you've been working for a while, you have a legal right to breaks. When you look at it from this perspective, it kind of is your fault. After all, that employee is doing something beyond their job duties to help you out.

That story is the reason why I check Amazon before thinking of going to the store.
Prices are usually on par or better, I don't have to go to the store and deal with people who got treated poorly by another customer and take it out on me, and it'll be there in two days. Later that day if I'm desperate (although that has yet to happen). I'm not saying that's everyone that works in retail, but it happens more often than not.
March 1, 2016 4:44 p.m.
VampireArmy says... #31
yeah it happens to me a lot. I work "Electronics" as one of my 4 positions but since we're so laughably understaffed, I don't ever get to focus on that area because i'm also in charge of cleaning the entire toy, seasonal (holiday and/or whatever season items), and sports sections while keeping an ear out for one of those retarded little call boxes to go off in which i have 1 minute to get to and clear.
March 1, 2016 4:54 p.m.
I'm exceedingly happy about my job. I work for myself, writing from 10:30 am to around 7:00 pm each day. It's lots of work but I get to learn a lot while doing it and no one tells me what to do. I work from home, which is another big plus. Oh, and whenever I want to go on break, I can just pop on TO for a few minutes and unwind for a bit. If I need to take a day off, I can do that too. I still have to deal with ungrateful and difficult clients, but that's pretty much ever job.

Self employed as well, I handle the court recording systems in ME, NH, and VT. Other audio/visual stuff too but mostly courtroom recording systems.
$65/hr for labor and $35/hr for travel is a nice wage. (That's not profit though, most of that money gets fed right back into the business.)

I forgot to tell you guys this:
I play Arcanis the Omnipotent in my group quite often. Even at its most tuned level, it's pretty mediocre when compared to the general power-level of my group. This weekend, during one of our sessions, I got off to an explosive start and amassed such an amount of resources that I was basically able to dictate the pace of the game. However, this made me the target of the table's hate. In a crazy turn of events, both my combos ended up in the bin. Even worse, I lost all 4 of my recursion tools as well. I now had no way of winning by combo.
The deck doesn't have that many creatures. The most threatening attacker I have in the deck is Consecrated Sphinx. I was basically sitting on 10 lands, 8 artifacts, and Arcanis the Omnipotent while I controlled the board. A topdeck into Tezzeret the Seeker and using my Scroll Rack to rearrange my hand changed things. I got to draw Ugin, the Spirit Dragon and deploy Tezzeret. He ticked up.
Next turn, I was able to ult Tezzeret the Seeker . My 8 artifacts gave me a total of 40 power, enough to kill a player from full health. Then Ugin, the Spirit Dragon hit the board. From then on, I used Arcanis the Omnipotent and a 2/2 bird I had gotten from Swan Song to go on the beatdown while bolting people with Ugin.
I've played a variant of mono blue combos in EDH for three years. That was the first time I won through damage.

I'm currently a college student with no job, but my plan is to open up my own LGS. I've been talking with a friend who will be my business partner, and he thinks we can get it started up in about seven years.

I live in VT so I usually don't do much LGSing outside of VT itself. I've been to the one in somersworth NH just because it's near my wife's family.
That being said, If I'm near portland on a job for more than 1 day I'll make sure to remember to bring my stuff.

Miami is a huge city and our stores are located in the suburbs in the South. The city's incredibly spread out. I live South of Downtown Miami and it takes me 20 and 30 minutes respectively to get to the shops without traffic. The city is notorious for having bad traffic too. FNM sometimes means sitting in your car for 2 hours. Not only that, the atmosphere and service at these establishments sucks hardcore. They're even located so close to each other than one is probably going to go out of business because its business is being drained away. The closest shop North is in the next city over roughly 30 to 40 minutes away. Where I live would essentially be a perfect place for a new shop.

Well, my shop is a whole 5 min away from my house in an old bowling alley, they bought the space about 15 years ago. The old shoe desk made a perfect place for the singles counter and the card case exactly the perfect shape too.

That was... definitely new. We're planning to open our LGS in Baltimore.
