Third time's a charm.

So today was amazing.
I was playing Bant coco in a standard tournament and I was playing against B/W token control.
This is what happened:
He has in play Sorin on 5, Gideon on 1, and 2 ally tokens.
I only have a Krallenhorde Howler and 4 mana up.
He goes to Grasp of Darkness my killer before combat on his turn.
I flash in Avacyn, let grasp kill the Killer, Avacyn flips, deals 3 to each token and 3 to the Gideon.
Now he's tapped out and it's about to be my turn.
Untap and Avacyn kills Sorin.

Welp. As of yesterday I've learned that I'm the only one left out of 8 people from ny original play group that still plays. It may be time to sell out.

To be truthful, the game is just zero fun to me unless I'm playing it socially. Every game is like that. I've spent the last week playing almost nothing but xbox just because that's what the playgroup is doing and i had more fun there than ive had in mtg in a long time.

If you are into mostly standard then keeping cards over an extended break could put you back.
If you are playing eternal formats then it will be really hard to rebuild.
I keep my edh collection because as I move and travel, edh is one way to meet new people that I share something in common with.
There are lots of factors to consider. The one time I did get out was a perfect storm of my social circle quitting and catching myself in addiction while being a poor college student counting on a good GPA. Sometimes it is for the best.

Eh i have a decent modern/edh collection and a 90% built standard vamp deck. My most expensive cards are fetches and shocks probably.
I'm giving it until soi rotates to know for sure

All my friends suddenly got into standard when they released SoI and I feel super left out. There's also a standard GP coming to our state so they want to go to that.
I just want to play powerful decks with all the cards possible, none of this pansy standard shit. Lol.

Honestly soi is the only reason I'm in the game right now. Say what you will but the format is extremely diverse past the surface.

I played SOI once. I played 3 games before dropping, all of which were against fucking White Weenies. It's so dumb.

That's to be expected. Aggro runs wild every start of the season because it's the easiest to brew. There's still a metric fuck ton of options.

No not really. Vampires is probably the worst deck in the meta right now. Shit happens. If I have some extra cash after I move, I'll be building Mardu control.

I don't play MtG anymore either Vamp. I just make articles, build cubes, theorize about modern, and manage this site. I only play games for the same reason you do as well. Sort of why I only really play TF2. But I won't sell my collection because there's just simply no benefit to doing so in the long rung. Sure you might get immediate cash benefits but money holds no value. Just store your collection away till that day comes again in the future.

Well i've been looking for a new standard deck, while at the same time looking for something relatively inexpensive since I only plan on playing standard like, once a month, maybe twice. And this looks absolutely fantastic. Ghirapur AEther Grid + a bunch of investigate stuff. Right up my ally. Thing doesn't have a sideboard but it cost me $10 on TCGplayer to put together.

So, I have just now defeated Gwyn for the first time ever. Turns out, having Solaire tank for you, while stuffing Gwyn full of Soul Spears (Crystal and otherwise) is a really quick way to kill him.

Indeed.
I literally only hit him with three Crystals and three regular spears. He dodged the rest and still died. Didn't even need the Enchanted Halberd +5 and certainly didn't need the Gravelord Sword +5.

The first one is from Touhou 15 - Legacy of the Lunatic Kingdom. The second looks like it's from Touhou 9.5 - Shoot the Bullet. You can download all the touhou games over at Moriya Shrine if you want them.
I do indeed play some Touhou. The games are ridiculously hard. I once got to a point I could beat any of them on normal without much effort, but I've lost some of my skills. I don't get how people do near perfect runs on Lunatic. My favorite game from the franchise is Touhou 10 - Mountain of Faith. Marisa all the way!

Wowza. And here I am, unable to beat friggin Undertale (although I've cleared most of the game except for Sans and post-geno Pacifist, so I guess I'm okay maybe? and Undertale is a really unconventional bullet hell). I'll take a look at that source you gave me. I like free games because I'm broke.

I'm also working on acquiring the missing parts from goggles ramp. (all told about $30 away from being done)
I opened a lot of DTK, ORI, and BFZ so I have everything but some lands and the SOI/OGW stuff.
Anyone interested in buying the deck as a lot? 10% lower than tcg mid for the whole deck?

I mean Collected Company isn't cheap either noises. I'd be interested to see how big a player goggles ramps continues to be, Brad Nelson is sort of a metagame master and as the meta shifts I'll be interested to see if the deck remains tier 1.

If you didn't get a set of cocos at DTK release day then you're doing something wrong. That card was super low for quite a while and then pod was banned in modern...
But yeah, I guess Coco is expensive too, I just forget about them cause I've got my 6 and that's not changing any time soon.
