@ThisIsBullshit why spend 50 when you can spend 300 and draft with friends?

Coinman1863 says... #9
DERPLINGSUPREME, that's how I'm cracking my packs, I can only get 3 other friends together, so I'm doing EMA sealed.
BTW EMA draft is dope, I've already done a few on cockatrice and it's baller.
PS: Belcher is a bomb draft pick. I domed people for 14 twice yesterday with it.

I haven't the slightest idea of anything that is going on in magic right now. Besides the names of the new sets. Teach me, for I am sad.
May 31, 2016 12:18 p.m.
trollslayer Shadows of Innistrad Standard is ass, it's literally White Weenie hell. Eye of Ugin and Splinter Twin are banned in Modern, which in turn makes it actually surprisingly diverse, though the Tier 1 pool is limited now. Eternal formats are the bomb, and now that Eternal Masters is coming out they'll be easily accessible, to a degree.

Why spend $300 when I could spend $0 and play a deck I already own?
May 31, 2016 1:53 p.m.
ItchiUchiha117 says... #14
To be fair, Tibs, how much did you spend on that deck?
May 31, 2016 1:57 p.m.
DERPLINGSUPREME says... #16
"the one you own" tibs.
and EMA draft would work like your deck. you sleeve it up and now you can draft it forever with the same relative potency of a cube.

xzzane there are usually a couple games being played on untap. He could ask some of them to teach him. I have no idea how to play it.
About EMA, I want to play Wizard's Tower with it.

Force of will is basically MTG but you can't get mana screwed, virtually can't ramp, and everything is anime.

Force of Will: Where every female presented above age 14 are pointlessly sexually objectified. I won't play it because I despise their art direction.
June 1, 2016 8:22 p.m.
DERPLINGSUPREME says... #26
femme that's pretty much the nature of anime-esk things these days. there always seem to be at lest one girl who is needlessly, let's say, "boobified". they can still potentially compelling characters, but the creators seem to feel that they will only be compelling if they are absolutely "perfect".
June 1, 2016 8:37 p.m.
Femme_Fatale says... #27
Boobified isn't the same as sexual objectification. And even then, it is only one or two characters in any given anime or even JRPG. The biggest problem I have with FoW is that the sexual objectification doesn't make any sense. It doesn't matter what the character, setting or event is, sexual objectification will occur. The characters are not sexually forward themselves, and the game takes place in a combat fantasy setting.

VampireArmy says... #28
When your game's base audience is 13-20 year old males, your art direction tends to appeal to their hormones. I for one am tired of the natural disgust people harbor for that fact. -Le hashtag gasp- males have sexuality.

DERPLINGSUPREME says... #29
Femme, have you heard of the cheshire cat thing? :3
if you haven't, there's your reason to get mad.
also, that card is fucking power creep. brainstorm with shroud that reshuffles upon death on a stick. dumb.
June 1, 2016 9:38 p.m.
Femme_Fatale says... #30
You are missing the point here VampireArmy. I'm not talking about male sexuality, I'm talking about sexual objectification of characters that appear on every single character that simply does not make sense. And if you really want to go with that point, you are basically saying that everything targeted at that age range should have every female portrayed with extremely revealing clothing and overly sexual objectified bodies. Please, rethink your statement of having your art direction tend to "appeal to their hormones" just because your audience is a certain age range. Honestly, how many games and shows sexually objectify every single female character regardless of the setting, event or personality?
That's the problem I'm having here. I'm fine with sexualization as long as A: it makes sense and/or B: it doesn't resort to the character being nothing but an object for someone to direct their desires towards. FoW's settings, events and characters have nothing to do with sexuality. And yet every single female above a certain age threshold is portrayed as nothing but a sexual object.

It does have a point though.
It's advertisment is directed towards a target audience.
Its no doubt effective and doesn't harm anyone.
June 1, 2016 10:31 p.m.
VampireArmy says... #32
Femme_Fatale no. See i think you and a lot of others miss the point. Advertising is a multiple layer machine engineered for decades to make people spend money. Just because in this instance I'm talking about one asset they use, that doesn't make it their only asset.
Why are things sexualized? Because humans, like every other animal, are sexual. Do these girls NEED to be sexualized to sell? No but they sure as hell sell better since they are. The same reason every marvel dude is joe sixpack with perfect hair, smoothe eyes, and a chiseled face. You think most guys care about that shit? Nah brah we wanna see the bad guy get asses kicked and throw in some explosions for good measure.
I digress. My point is sex sells. Sex has always sold. Sex will always sell no matter how much bitching people do or how much shaming and attempts at social engineering people attempt.

The commander league at my shop has ended for this month. It's been a wild ride, I must admit. My buddy placed 1st with elves, I got 2nd with U/W combo control, and another friend of mine placed 3rd with XenaGod beatdown. We got an LP Revised Tundra + $120 in store credit. Feels pretty good.
The last day's matches were pretty damn hostile. I couldn't believe myself when I had to call a judge for conduct. I've never had to do that before. I understand that you may not like me when I call you out on missing your Rhystic Study, but damn...
It's been an interesting experience. Before joining this league, my EDH experience was made up almost exclusively of playing in a meta made up of a few core members and lots of rotating faces. This group plays fully proxied decks, meaning seeing something with a tcg price tage of less than 2K was pretty damn rare. Now, all of us had to pick up $300 dollar decks and go up against a meta where the best decks easily reached $800-$3000.
Over the years, I've amassed lots of experience playing competitive EDH. It's very different to walk into a store where you'll see Prossh running cards like Sheoldred, the Whispering One and Yavimaya Elder. This is especially true coming from the perspective of a control player as the answers you're sticking in your decks are pretty meta dependent.
Also, building a deck (esp. a competitive one) on budget was an interesting experience. I've helped tons of people craft their own creations under budget constraints, but doing it myself was quite the challenge. I felt as though someone cast Bonds of Mortality on the decks that all my friends had been playing for ages.
Our shop rules allowed for a 10 card wish/sideboard. I found myself leaning on quite a few cards over the past weeks, but one stood over the rest to me. Extract was an MVP for me as it allowed me to pick apart decks. Most decks at the shop relied heavily on combos and usually only ran two or maybe three combos. Most notably, it's a card people usually have to fight over if their decks play any kind of permission. Spending U to fish out forces is damn good.
I've got so much to say about the whole experience... It's making me want to write about it.

I just hit the giraffe scene in The Last of Us and I'm kind of in shambles right now. This is why I shouldn't play video games at 2 AM.
June 2, 2016 2:21 a.m.
Never played that, but heard basically universal praise for the game. Last time I had a profound experience playing video games was while playing Bioshock Infinite. By the time I reached the end of Comstock House, I found myself personally wishing to violate values I thought I had held so far in life.
June 2, 2016 6:17 a.m.
for me, the only good part of Bioshock Infinite was the ending, but that alone made it worth playing.
also, don't play FOW. play Hearthstone, if you don't want to play MTG anymore.
June 2, 2016 8:31 a.m.
Oh I still want to play mtg. My brother wants me to get into a new game to play casually though, since I'm practically incapable of playing casual magic anymore.
June 2, 2016 1:45 p.m.
Bioshock infinite was a great game all around. Loved it, still have to play the dlc though.
I was having that problem for a while xzzane so I started building tribal decks like rogues and ninjas. It brought my casual scrub in me back to life.
June 2, 2016 3:05 p.m.
I might try that. One of the first decks I ever made was a soldier tribal deck that later evolved into my first token deck. Man that makes me nostalgic just thinking about that.

GoldGhost012 Giraffe scene? It's been a few years since I played The Last of Us (and yes, it was fucking fantastic, I think it's easily the best game i've ever played), what giraffe scene? If it's a huge spoiler, maybe leave the comment on my wall.

So, after my brother insulted me today and then said that he and the rest of my family had been talking about me behind my back (which he's said before about him and a friend of ours), feeding into my depression and anxiety and paranoia, I decided to call him out on his shit and the fact that he's been using our garage as a spot to bring strange men he'd met through Tindr or Grindr or whatever and fuck them and go smoke weed since long before he'd turned 18 (which was only a month ago at that) rather than doing the work he needed to graduate. He then started acting like he was a victim and started talking about how he was going to kill himself (which he rather regularly threatens and, I'm sorry to say, has lost any kind of fear I could get from it because of exactly how often he says it). I then headed off to work and it has been festering in my brain for hours. I want to go break something.
June 2, 2016 10:53 p.m.
Your family is composed primarily of emotionally abuse assholes, from everything you've said about them. I'm sorry man.

bijschjdbcd - First, your name is a pain to type out.
Anyways, I'm completely for the 5X. I had the original 5 and semi-recently upgraded to the 6P and couldn't be happier. My dad recently got the 5X and LOVES it. Ok, well, I wish my hands were a little bigger so that I could reach across the screen, but such is life.
