Your classes are a great way to meet like-minded people. I met most of my friends though classes or through people I lived with/near freshman year.
I have a flight back to school tonight. Woo senior year!

Sirbar I know right?? Like everyone's supposed to be all together but the giant classes just scare me. Only people I've really talked to so far are marching band kids

Luckily my classes are like only 30 people each. So I don't have that problem. It was just the wandering around for two hours between classes that was weird. But yeah ducttapedeckbox I met some cool people in classes today. Unfortanely I am only going to a JC so no dorms which means I can't meet people there, but I do like the people I have met so far.

That's great, sirbar! I was pleasantly surprised to see how similar I was to some people when we were all choosing to be there - quite different from high school. It doesn't matter if your interests all perfectly align either. One of my best friends is a History major while I'm in engineering. Sometimes you just find people that click.
On another note, I just got back to my apartment. I can reach two gyms and two Pokestops from my bed. One of the shuttle stops we made was in a pretty bad part of Baltimore but I caught a high-CP Arbok and a pretty decent Pinsir (new Pokedex additions for me) so I guess it was worth.

Well I just had a terrible start to senior year.
Throughout the entire year we, with a group of our choice, apply to work on a capstone project with various companies ranging from the Air Force Research Lab to a lock company to Blue Origin (Amazon founder Jeff Bezos' space company). We apply to three of 16 total projects that meet our interests and align with our expertise.
We just got assigned to our project and it blows. Hard. Not one of the three we applied for. It has little to do with my two group member's interests or experiences, and while it relates to my interests in a way, I changed around courses to avoid this type of project in class. Guess that's not happening.
For those curious, the project is an aerodynamic study on a lacrosse head. Pretty far from a powered mechanic's creeper, a space dust collector, or a robotic arm to mimic a lacrosse throw, our three preferred projects. We're meant to just stick the lacrosse head in the wind tunnel, potentially build something to make it go faster, and see what happens. I did this stuff in a fluids class for a week and it was boring as hell. Now I get to do it for a year.
Sorry for the rant, really irritated right now lol.

In most cases I would be happy for an easy project or assignment. However, this project is year long and combines all of the knowledge that I've worked towards these past three years. That, and knowing that success on the project can often lead to job opportunities post-graduation irritates me because I am getting little out of such a big project.

ducttapedeckbox sad story... But well, you're my american engineering bro', and I happen to be fond of aerodynamics: if you ever need help to go further than the basics of this project you dislike, just say so. Even thought my knowledge is really limited (and focused on aerodynamics applied to airplanes), I have simulation tools and tons of book in my school's library (which is one of if not the best aeronautics school of Europe according to its administration and industrials n.n) to help you! c:

Thanks elpokitolama! I really appreciate it. After being pissed that we got a mediocre project I realized that it isn't all bad for me - we have access to the big wind tunnel on campus and it's operated by a professor who I might want to ask to be my Master's adviser.

EpicFreddi my parents and grandparents are paying for my tuiton, meals and room for my first year and damn I am so thankful for that, but I'm footing the bill for everything else (textbooks, etc). I'll have to pay more next year though, but hopefully next summer I can get a better job than working retail at minimum wage lol
I'm not even going to an expensive college, I'm at a public university.

@ ducttapedeckbox - "In most cases I would be happy for an easy project or assignment. However, this project is year long and combines all of the knowledge that I've worked towards these past three years."
I know how you feel bro. I just finished two solid years in my "network security" courses and after the first year I was already burnt out on carrying over everything from one course to the next and building and building on it.
The good thing is I learned enough that I can now pursue tech as a hobby. I got a Xiaomi phone on the way that I can put fedora 23 on.
If there's one thing I've learned from 1 year at the Defense Language Institute and 3 years at tech schools it's that I just want a job where I don't have to think too hard about what I'm doing.
I want to use my energies after work to discover, invent, and explore, but as far as a job is concerned I am sick of the pressure of constantly having to figure things out or fail and get kicked out of school. I can't wait to work a simple job at an ice cream shop or something.

It comes to finding the ideal job where you do what you like and like what you do. Unfortunately that isn't always the case.
I'm pursuing a career in the aerospace industry at companies like Boeing, so hopefully I'll be able to find a job that allows me to explore and develop my interests/skills while making a living.
On another note, I had a friend get stopped from going in a bar because his jeans were ripped.

So, I recently found out that I can't even get touched by people without having all of my anxieties and psychosis and all my other mental issues slam into the front of my brain and make my whole body lock up and I just started shaking and almost cried. They were a friend, trying to tell me everything was going to be fine and I just started yelling for them to stay away from me. I can't keep this up for too much longer. It just hurts too much.
