I just don't think these shops really take in that much money. And it didn't help that he wasn't interesting in competitive pricing on the cards he was selling. He probably lost between $500 and $2000 a year for each person who plays modern or legacy in the shop (25-30 people), as why buy something at a 20-30% premium when you can use tcgplayer?

That sucks. I don't have a shop by me. Miss my old LGS it was a really good one.
Building the first deck I have built for a long time. Anyone have any kobolds? Need 2 overlords, and a little bit of everything. lol

There's only 3 other modern players at my LGS, so I started playing on Xmage (poor man's MTGO, minus the ruletext's bugs) again. Talking about modern, I got bored of storm faster than expected, I should have build my taking turns deck instead :(

I have always liked kobolds. Going to do a kobold deck with blood lust, giant strength(maybe), and some burn. Need 2 overlords, and most of the rest. Just one of those decks I have always wanted to build.
I want to build janky Old School decks. They are like my old decks from when I first played.

Was thinking of something nostalgic and remembered Magic and so I decided to come here and look at what's going on with it.
It looks like Magic is meh rn, with Standard apparently being a total mess, and Modern the same. Also looks like WotC is pulling out all the tricks with new Archenemy, Planechase, and Un- set.
Time to pull out my old deck for summer camp once again, you'll hear from me next year

For me, Magic is in a great place right now. Commander and legacy are both great, as well as WotC realizing their mistakes and fixing it, see the play design team.
But in other news, I got back from China last week. Missed a chance to eat king cobra and I'm still rather miffed about it.

Modern is actually pretty ok. Death's shadow is a bit rampant right now but it kinda controls itself due to the suicidal nature of the deck sometimes it just dies to topdecking.

Modern seems fine tbh though I haven't been playing it, and EDH and legacy are still great despite the leovold banning in edh and top banning in legacy.

I actually bought a gigabyte gtx g1 gaming 1070 for normal price around April. Missing courses and mobo. Originally wanted to go with the ASUS PRIME Z270-A and i5-7600K but ryzen came out so I haven't really looked into it. If I wanted to swap to ryzen, I'd have some concerns that the corsair vengeance 2x8 3000 ram I got would not work as well as some other better optimized sticks. Ughhhh

I'd personally go with the stuff you know is compatible. Hell of a lot safer that way. Do you have your build on pcpartpicker.com yet? It shows the compatibility of all your parts.
Side note, what case did you choose?

It's all compatible. All I know of Ryzen is that a lot of early testing on the chip was bottlenecked by poorly optimized mobos and memry sticks. So I could still theoretically get a suitable board, but I own the Vengeance LPX sticks, so I'm hesitant to go to Ryzen. Also, this is strictly for gaming, so the extra workstation power I'd get from Ryzen doesn't appeal to me all that much. I'm pretty happy with it for a first build. My laptop actually finally died a month ago. qq

My build is very similar in the intent but I also need it to run CAD simulations and rendering for work, which is why it's very high powered. I've been running Witcher 3 on ultra at a steady 60 FPS without a hitch same for Nier. I'll prolly be trying Shadow of Mordor later. Also, poor laptop.

I highly suggest buying more fans. It looks like airflow in your case is a problem and the case fans are subpar. The noctua ones I have are real nice and easy to install.
Otherwise, the build looks very solid!

I actually got three case fans for the thing already. They were a well-rated medium between quiet and able to move air. In white. They're in the case atm and the whole thing is in a box so I'm not going to rummage through it.
I was worried about air just cuz I'm in Florida and ambient temeratures will be something like 75 to 79 in my room.

In regards to coinman I think a lot of people have moved on or are busy with other things - I couldn't be bothered to keep up with the discord chat either and I'm not sure I even still have it as a channel.
Too busy I guess. I play Magic less and I play formats that aren't widespread in this community.

Yea, there are a few other options, but this one was by far the best. Nicest staff, nicest player base, biggest shop, etc. Had tournaments for all formats from legacy to edh, as well as casual gaming for all of that regularly. Was just super ideal.
