I know. Just was a bit frightening.
The dogs ripping out the animals throats part was really gross though.

Won an EDH round, got 3 packs. Got Deathmist Raptor, Den Protector, and Clone Legion. Pretty much all went straight into EDH decks, but I might trade the green ones. Are those going to hold some value in standard? Post rotation do you think they will rise?

DERPLINGSUPREME says... #6
he legion wont rise, but the other 2 might, mainly the raptor

I know clone legion is not going to have value ever, just wondering about the greens.
Clone legion went into my Talrand deck. Bought the commander, and toss in counters, draw, and crazy. I did not even ramp in it, which is crazy for me.

Apparently.. and he started calling names that seemed unprovoked to me..
...I cant wrap my head around what hes saying half the time if I actually read it instead of assume what hes saying..
Its like he types one thing, deletes half of it and continues with an entirely different thought 2-3 times a sentence.. o.o

I can see Den Protector having some leftover value after rotation, depending on what Origins gives us. Since it's mechanic works best with the block, and that'll be dominant for a bit, I would say hold for now.
On a separate note, Epoch mentioned chess theory and psychology, and to a lesser untitled extent game theory. I think, especially for a game like Magic where there are an almost infinite number of combinations that could potentially come up but rarely do, calculating in advance is far more practical than playing a card right when you can. It would not surprise me in the slightest to learn that a number of Magic's best are excellent chess and Go players. Because basically it boils down to one exceedingly difficult skill to master: patience. Being able to read your opponent, read the board state, read your own moves and apply them 2 or 3 or 4 moves advance all while calculating what your opponent(s) could do, that's a mark to shoot for. It takes time and stamina and intensity and determination and above all, patience.

Well fuck, there go my chances of being a semi-pro player.
May 7, 2015 2:18 a.m.
I've been throwing up for the past 4 hours. Literally.
I kinda apply concepts from Magic to everyday interactions with people. Just so y'all know.
May 7, 2015 2:44 a.m.
I am also dismayed at the return of IM, but there's not much we can do about it. In fact, it looks like we might be able to turn him around. I'm not sure, though.
May 7, 2015 2:45 a.m.
I have my doubts... Id rather not interact as I said before. :P It doesnt help him.. for sure, but does it hurt him if I ignore him? (Considering hes conscious of how people feel about him..)
GoldGhost012 I wish I could be pro.. :/ Just cant shake the fact that what I do is something anyone can do, even if Im doing well.. anyone could do well too and I can't figure out what would give me my walker spark so to speak and push me over the top..
Maybe it would help if I was a full blooded spike..

My favourite one.
When someone asks a question that applies to them aswell (stale example but alwell).
Person A asks..."Why don't you sit down?"
...and Person B responds with "Why dont you?"...
...and Person A says "I asked first"...
My typical response is "Mine is on top of the stack and thus resolves first."

Spending the day walking around a University was absolute hell. Wearing a school uniform made me feel like I had a spotlight on me and it wasnt fun.
Only interesting part was a brief Psychology talk, Until the dude kept bringing me back to sport and how I should take a sporty approach the field.

I wasn't embarrased for how I conducted myself but how my fellow classmates were conducting themselves.
I would sell them Didgeridooda. Given the current popularity of Abzan Megamorphs and the previous example of meta shifts, Example was Sidisi Whip and when Whip dexks where king, Then the tokens deck, Lots of decks have risen and then dropped in popularity and it is probably a good idea to move them now.

You can't compare magic to chess, for reference. In chess it is well known that you can play a 'perfect' game - making optimum moves at all points. This is because there are no unknowns. Magic has unknowns in the randomness of the draws. You therefore cannot ever play an optimum game because reliably guessing the opponents response continuously for 6 or 7 turns is impossible. It's an interesting facet that separates magic from board games.

bijschjdbcd says... #22
I have never played competitive chess but surely the skill level of the opponent can intentionally or unintentionally influence the outcomes of the game.
Jon Finkel once said that there is only one correct play (or most optimal play).
Regardless I am unnecessary questioning the point despite seeing where you are coming from.
ChiefBell have you heard from GlistenerAgent recently? He seems to have disappeared...

Holy F$#$@#ING shit, I almost got a playset of NM Tarmos for $400 on a FB Auction and some scrub upped the price to $600.
Despite the 5 minute rule getting breached at 6.
The disappointment is real.
May 7, 2015 7:23 a.m.
Didgeridooda says... #27
What is the 5 min rule? Also, it might have been the seller/seller's friend. That is a big jump.
Also, that is what I was thinking about those cards. I was not sure if it would be a long term thing in standard. Also, the rotation I was talking about was theros in case anyone thought I was talking about when dtk rotated.
May 7, 2015 9:40 a.m.
bijschjdbcd says... #28
Either, It wont go much higher.
Every auction ends at 8:00pm that night or 5 minutes after last bid if its past 8. I saw the price was low and commented at 7:59 and he commented at 8:06.
May 7, 2015 9:50 a.m.
Didgeridooda says... #29
Ouch, so the auction should have been over. That is unfortunate. Being that he crushed your bid, I think it may have been a shady deal. If you were just getting out bid, then why did he not go $450?
I think you may see some more auctions around that price. I think goyf will fall just a little, then go right back up.
May 7, 2015 10:03 a.m.
Epochalyptik says... #31
Bid snipers usually decide on a ceiling for the item in question and then bid that amount to lock out the incremental bidders. It's a common tactic on eBay.
It's also possible that the auctioner was multi-accounting or having a friend bail him if the auction didn't reach the desired value. Watch the seller and see is he relists the items.
May 7, 2015 10:09 a.m.
bijschjdbcd says... #32
Yeahi see its a tactic but the fact that it breeched a rule of the auction made me salty.
Robbed of like $400...

I did Ok. All of the classes that I'm interested in I got As in, and the classes that I don't really care about I got Bs in. I'll probably have like a 3.5 or a 3.6 for this semester.

I did some maths guys -
Estimated Value of a Booster based on TCGMid prices at this current moment:
Mythics
Emrakul, the Aeons Torn - $43.08
Kozilek, Butcher of Truth - $48.08
Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre - $36.40
Karn Liberated - $44.07
Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite - $32.39
Tezzeret the Seeker - $12.99
Comet Storm - $0.98!
Primeval Titan - $16.15
Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker - $24.59
Iona, Shield of Emeria - $28.34
Tarmogoyf - $190
Vendilion Clique - $64.99
Dark Confidant - $63
Bitterblossom - $43.61
Mox Opal - $44.95
Mythics Total = $693.62
Average Mythic Value = $46.42
Value Added to booster = $5.78
(to obtain this value I divide the average by 8 - this is in recognition of the fact that only one booster in 8 contains a mythic).
Rares (Oh god - this will take me ages!)
All Is Dust - $18.99
Surgical Extraction - $5.96
Mirror Entity - $1.56
Necroskitter - $5.64
All Suns' Dawn - $0.69!
Wildfire - $0.45!
Indomitable Archangel - $1.89
Splinter Twin - $24.51
Noble Hierarch - $50.33
Daybreak Coronet - $28.49
Hurkyl's Recall - $4.75
Goblin Guide - $18.95
Mirran Crusader - $3.64
Cryptic Command - $53.40
Endrek Sahr, Master Breeder - $0.29!
Leyline of Sanctity - $28.26
Profane Command - $0.57!
Horde of Notions - $0.74!
Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind - $4.59
Ghost Council of Orzhova - $1.58
Mystic Snake - $2.42
Shadowmage Infiltrator - $1.50
Apocalypse Hydra - $8.50
Wilt-Leaf Liege - $29.37
Nobilis of War - $0.45
Swans of Bryn Argoll - $1.89
Fulminator Mage - $37.03
Creakwood Liege - $10.06
Sunforger - $2.50
Etched Monstrosity - $0.87!
Spellskite - $23.70
Etched Champion - $4.68
Eye of Ugin - $13.20
Blinkmoth Nexus - $11.44
Rares Total = $402.89
Average Rare Value = $11.85
Value Added to booster = $10.37
(to obtain this value I divide the average by 1.125 - this is in recognition of the fact that 7 in 8 boosters contains a rare).
Total value of rares and mythics = $10.37+$5.78=$16.15
The MSRP is $10. So as it stands right now you should be making roughly $6 on average from the rare and mythic slot.
Now we should really factor in price decreases, however the mythic slot won't decrease by much at all. I'll multiple this one (the mythics) by 95% to represent a modest 5% decrease (5.78 x 0.95 = $5.49).
The rares are harder to factor in because no one can say exactly what they will do. I'll go for a small 20% hit to the price (10.37 x 0.8 = $8.30)
Total adjusted is $13.49
So even if we imagine a small price hit you should still be making money. This is also without the uncommons and commons too!
In fact at a current EV of $16.15 the price can decrease by 66% and you'll still be in pocked by 66 cents.
