Some hippy dippy cup/pot thing with a little end on it. I don't really know how to describe, but you put the little end just at the base of your nose. You fill the cup with a saline solution. Tilt your head a little to the side so that the solution goes through your nose. It's then supposed to flow out the other nostril, draining your sinuses, flushing out mucus and debris. It's rather uncomfortable at first, but you get used to it. I can't really describe it all too well, but here's this.

Epochalyptik: glad to see you tried it. What exercises did you try out? I'm looking to spice up my days a little with something different.
May 11, 2015 8:27 p.m.
Epochalyptik says... #9
@NoPantsParade: Bench, skullcrushers, incline bench, dumbbell tricep extensions. I wanted to finish with a round or two of pushups to failure, but I was too taxed from the actual workout.
Going bench to skullcrusher was brutal. I might swap something else in next time so I can complete more reps on the second exercise.

femme, this was because of you. so, I was just thinking of whatever for a while and my brain got on the topic of femme, and it turned into this: Have there ever been any transexual actors (in movies, tv shows, etc)? if not, when will there be?
note: when I say "movies", that DOES NOT mean porn

Epochalyptik: Nice! I like to finish off with either the overhead cable tricep extension with the pulley at the lowest height or dips to failure. Have you tried decline skullcrushers with a dumbbell? I can feel it more in the long head versus regular skullcrushers on a flat bench, but maybe that's just me.
May 11, 2015 8:42 p.m.
Epochalyptik says... #13
@NoPantsParade: I haven't played with angles on the skullcrushers yet. I might give that a go.
Cable extensions are on my radar, but I don't really have a good enough setup to do them. I've been working out at home so I can build the foundational strength to make actual gym equipment useful to me. My bench has a single cable post for lat pulldowns and maybe a few other things, but it isn't invertible and it doesn't really handle flyes or extensions. It's too short.

DERPLINGSUPREME what an interesting question. A good one too. I would reckon there has been but never got famous...at least not here in north America due to religious types

There are a few popular people who have recently come out of the closet as being trans.
May 11, 2015 8:52 p.m.
Femme_Fatale says... #16
Though I can't remember who they are or whether they were actors or not. I know nothing about the "popular folk". Movies especially since I don't watch them.

There's that Bruce Jenner person i think...i don't keep up with celebrity lives mind you. I just know that because I'm surrounded by hyper progressive hipsters who won't shut up about it
May 11, 2015 8:55 p.m.
NoPantsParade says... #19
VampireArmy: Bruce Jenner is one of them. I have a customer at the grocery store I work at that rants about him every week.
Epochalyptik: If you have the lat pulldown bar, you can do tricep extensions by holding it underhand and extending the arms. I like that one too for the long head. Or you can grab the bar behind your head and extend the arms forward.

Isn't bruce a she now? Semantics i guess.
Still it's a recent thing that the media is cool with trans people.

VampireArmy: Yeah, you're right. My bad. Yeah, it seems to be the thing now. Although some parents don't seem too happy about it. Did anyone else hear about the whole thing in Virginia where a school allowed kindergarten kids to choose their own gender? I had that same guy talk to me about it, but I can't seem to find the article anywhere online.

Yeah i heard about that. Bit of a joke asking children under the age of at least 15 about that. I belive i read a little girl burst into tears for lack of understanding wtf was going on.

Laverne Cox, the black actress from Orange is the New Black, is trans. I think she was also in some Honda or Ford car commercials on Hulu, if I remember correctly.

@NoPantsParade: I've tried a couple different positions, but it doesn't really work. The cable is more like the kind you'd find on a bike lock, and it's very short. It's difficult to get a good range of motion on it for extensions.
May 11, 2015 9:27 p.m.
NoPantsParade says... #26
VampireArmy: The schools really shouldn't be involved with that stuff, in my opinion. It should be left up to the kids/parents. I heard there was a boy who went home and asked his parents what gender he was after going to school that one day.

They had some decent hooks in some of their songs, but never was much of a fan honestly.
If you're looking for one of the best rock/metal bands of the last two decades, look up Chevelle.

Metal is the last thing i would call Chevelle.
Hard rock sure but certainly not metal
May 11, 2015 10:03 p.m.
Eh, hard rock then. Every rock/metal band from the 90's forward are so completely different from each other that it's hard to categorize em.

Pete Loeffler (lead singer) has one of the best voices in music in my opinion.

I'm in the same boat as you, xzzane, I like songs with meaning to them. I could sit down and read Grateful Dead lyrics all day and try to develop my own meaning. Robert Hunter has a way with words and lyrics that I don't think many writers can match, especially today, in my opinion, of course
I absolutely love Hunter's story behind this song.
"'I think the germ of China Cat Sunflower came in Mexico, on Lake Chapala. I dont think any of the words came, exactly-the rhythms came. I had a cat sitting on my belly, and was in a rather hypersensitive state, and I followed this cat out toI believe it was NeptuNeand there were rainbows across Neptune, and cats marching across the rainbow. This cat took me in all these cat places; theres some essence of that in the song.' Absolutely beautiful.

DERPLINGSUPREME, I was talking to one of my friends today, and saying I have no life because my now-ex-girlfriend broke up with me last week, and then I was telling him about how I became a forum troll, and then I was talking about you because you spam random things, and I was like, "and his real name is Keb!" Then my friend was like, "That doesn't sound like a real name... I bet it's just some 50-year old woman named Sandra." Just thought you'd like to know XP

Epochalyptik: Good luck, man! Why not just start going there now, though? I guess I get that because I did the same thing. Now I just back and forth between two gyms - one in my neighborhood and the YMCA nearby.

Epochalyptik says... #48
@NoPantsParade: Part of it is me being self conscious, I suppose, and I acknowledge that.
But the other part of it is that it's kind of a pain to go work out somewhere away from my own home (meaning either get in my car smelling like ass or shower there, which, in turn, means packing a bag) when I'm not yet developed enough to really get much out of the more advanced machinery and weights. I have fairly low thresholds on my bench, curl, and squat, and I don't have the muscle to really support anything I could only do with more advanced equipment. Once I get stronger, I plan to transition to the gym and start really working on some different techniques. But maybe I'm looking at it the wrong way; I'm still very new to this.
The other thing I need to work on is diet. I'm generally bad about sticking to dietary math; I tend to eat whatever as long as it's healthy and giving me proteins, carbs, or good fats.
May 11, 2015 10:39 p.m.
NoPantsParade says... #49
Epochalyptik: That makes sense. However, I think you'd be surprised at how many people go to the gym and are in worse shape than you are. I mean, everyone has to start somewhere. As long as you don't make a fool of yourself, incorrectly using machinery or heinous form, you'll be fine. If you draw attention to yourself, people will begin to judge you; otherwise, you'll be fine. Like I said, everyone starts somewhere. Some people will even give you some tips. Part of working out is doing the advanced stuff and adding variation. Well, don't hurt yourself doing the "advanced stuff." Eventually your muscles will adjust to the movements and you'll stagnate. Your core has a lot to do with it, too, so keep up with that.
I don't shower at the gym, and my car doesn't have a smell to it as far as I know. But I clean the interior like every two weeks. But I can see the issue with that.
Diet is the hardest thing to adjust. I slowly went into it. At the beginning of December, I started cutting out processed foods and eased myself into the New Year. Now I rarely eat processed foods and my diet is a lot healthier. I have one cheat day per week to maintain metabolism, and I've gotten used to it now. It's really just something you gotta ease yourself into, slowly cutting out the bad stuff. But everyone is different when it comes to this stuff.
