Can someone here provide me with a scientific theory that is 100% definitive, Like there is no other alternatives to explain the circumstances.

Had a 'debate' with a chem teacher about the validity of Psychology as a science, He said that nothing in Pysch is definitive, whilst he is correct I challenged him to provide a theory that is 100% provable. He was smug and shrugged me off without giving an answer.

bijschjdbcd that is called psuedo science
In the science world if your theory has 0 holes in it, it's probably bullshit

bijschjdbcd gravity, evolution anything that has the words "scientific theory" in front of it is pretty much definitively proven. The word "theory" is often misrepresented. It is not a hypothesis, as many mistake it for, but it has compelling and well researched evidence to support it.

No i mean if your theory cannot be tested, it's not a good theory.

You could show him some math. No argument there.

klone13 yes. Especially Drokoma the Eternal Hippy Dragon.

You have to differentiate between a theory and a hypothesis. Many "proven" things in science are actually still "theories" because while they haven't been disproved yet, there is still a chance that they will be in the future. For example, as far as we know, the Big Bang happened. However, since there's no actual way of proving that the universe was created that way, it's a Theory. Despite not being a "fact", it's accepted as truth.
A Hypothesis is like, "I believe that magic players are able to perform better on 8 hours of sleep than they are on 4 hours of sleep." Of course it seems logical, but as I'm sure no one's done a study on it, it's just a hypothesis. Even if someone did a study on it, and had data showing that yes, Magic players tend to perform better on more sleep, it would only be a "Theory", as it's possible that if you did many more tests with many different populations, the results might differ.
Unless you had tested every single magic player in the world, it would be a Theory.
Psychology has only recently been considered a legitimate science. For example, I have my BA, not BS, in Psychology, and yet I only got that two years ago. Some schools have changed it, others have not. It is, in fact, an actual science as far as Research goes. Your Chem professor is probably just one of those people who like to feel more important than others, and honestly, probably likes to think he's better than those "psuedo science frauds" over in the psychology department. I would avoid getting into a confrontation with him/her if you have a grade riding on that class.

Which leads straight to what i said to him, In Pysch there are still 'theories' which are conclusive.
He essentially said that NOTHING in pysch can be prooven.
Math is definitive, Like there ia only one answer. No two ways to interpret something.

Thankyou kyuuri117.
You summed up what I was thinking fairly accurately just with more clarity, And thank god he isn't one of my teachers.
May 12, 2015 10:21 p.m.
And that's why math is super cool. Then you get to the stuff that's not proven and cry because it'll probably remain that way for a very long time. If it took around 357 years for Fermat's Last Theorem, the Riemann Hypothesis probably has a ways to go too (originated 1859).
May 12, 2015 10:21 p.m.
He's not? In that case, feel free to throw the fact he's a dumbass in his face, as long as you have printed out facts you can throw as well.

Oh I do on a regular basis, I'm still in High School so he isn't a professor.
May 12, 2015 10:25 p.m.
bijschjdbcd - Tell your chemistry teacher that you have a hypothesis that severing the brain stem results in death 100% of the time. It's relevant to psychology because the brain stem is responsible for autonomic reactions (breathing, heartbeat). There are loads of things that can and have been proven in psychology. If you don't speak to a child, the child will never speak. That's a good one.
kyuuri117 - Theories you just take as being true until disproven. You're aware that they may have caveats but you don't need to qualify it. A theory is as close to fact as science can get because there's always a 'what if...' clause.
May 13, 2015 10:17 a.m.
bijschjdbcd - Newton's laws of motion? I can't think of a single situation, ever, in which they don't apply. Conservation of mass? You can never create matter or destroy it.
CanadianShinobi - Gravity isn't really a theory. It's just an unknown force. Though it is fully explained under the theory of relativity. Also evolution isn't really definitively proven. Like it does have problems.

I really wish people would bother reading before posting.

Oh god yeah. The TappedOut League signup is awful for that. Everyone keeps asking the same questions (that I answered in the OP).

I mean, if you don't want to read an entire thread for something, I don't blame you. You should at least CTRL+F for a keyword or something, though.
But if there's already a thread about the post bug, and that thread is still on the front page, how are people posting four or five ADDITIONAL threads on the same topic? Come on.

"At least" is still not "I'm helping." If it's posted, we can see it. Five people repeating the same thing accomplishes nothing and actually wastes time because I have to go deal with those threads.
But anyway.

I have too many EDH decks too. I think it is 11. I have all the ones in my EDH folder, and the 2 that are not yet in there are not sleeved up yet. I don't put them in the EDH folder until they are done, and that means sleeved up. Just got to trade for some more sleeves for them.

I stick with one. Play it for a while and then build a different one. I've yet to find an EDH deck to dedicate all my time and effort to. This is why I want to (but am waiting) to get back into Modern. I'd build a deck and play it and rarely get bored of it.
May 13, 2015 11:06 a.m.
Epoch, I was the second thread that posted that. I posted to show that it wasn't just local to one person. I didn't expect any other people to post. Apologies.

DERPLINGSUPREME says... #48
@Didgeridooda no, Its not that I have too many, its that I don't have "enough".
the reason that's in quotes is b/c I only play EDH once a week, for about 6 hours including any breaks. in this time, I need to make sure I have as much fun as I can, so I'll use about 5 of those very consistently b/c of how much I enjoy them. the rest are so I don't get bored with those 5. I tend to disassemble decks I don't like playing within 2 weeks of making them, and then building another deck out of the remains. any decks I like to play stick around, so over time I'll gradually get decks I enjoy playing more and more and more and still not get bored with them.

Didgeridooda says... #49
I build on a budget, and with the stuff I already have. I have been lowering that budget to try to match some of the newer players I have seen, and since I just don't have enough for a big budget. Also, I hardly ever like to play the same deck more then one time in a row. I like to switch so I need multiple budget decks. $5-10 for an EDH deck is not bad.

Epochalyptik: I'm gonna give you some advice from recent experience. If you do try a protein shake, never mix water concentrated with lemon juice with a chocolate protein powder and egg whites.
I did that because we are out of almond milk, and I didn't have time to go to the grocery store because I have the AP stats thing in about 45 minutes. I thought to myself, "How bad could it be? Besides, it's nutritional value over taste." It was not worth it. I almost threw up.
