So much alter work ... this is like as if I had to do 4 sets at once.

I'm lucky enough to be on T/O time and unlucky enough to work nights. Almost bedtime for me. :P

I'm basically gathering a database of card alters from around the internet. Various sources include, but are not limited to, deviantart, cardkitty, ebay, imgur, photobucket, facebook, tumblr, pintrest and many more. I record where I got the alter into a text document followed by an image url that is actually used in whatever media dictated. This second url consists of being cropped and/or having its url shortened so that it can be utilized in different sites. The only two sites that I use it for so far are Untap and T/O. Ever since T/O allowed alters, I've also been saving all the images onto my computer, so that I can upload them since there isn't a direct "upload from url" function here on T/O. Which is fine, it gives me a reason to keep a database of all the images handy.

I'm planning on it. Got 4 months where I'm basically doing nothing, so hopefully I'll be able to squeeze in every hour I can.

Had a very interesting game the other day. It was a 4 person modern game, which I thought was a lot of fun. Sadly, I could not finish the game, but I would love to try to do another sometime. Would anyone be interested in doing a 4 person modern game sometime later? Figure it might be something fun for the tappedout crowd to do.

4 player games I found were kinda boring xzzane. The most controlly deck always won.
May 14, 2015 10:34 a.m.
Really? I think they would add a bit of variety myself. I could see them getting boring if you played them often, but as a once in a while thing I think it would be an interesting thing to do.

It's mainly because they all want to go "free for all" instead of "round robin." In anything other than 2HG or EDH, round robin is the best way to balance the game out.
May 14, 2015 10:40 a.m.
I think I would actually prefer free for all myself. Mainly because of the novelty of it all in the modern format. Of course, I've only played a single, uncompleted game that way, so I don't really know what I'm talking about haha.

The problem with free for all is that everyone will choose to target select players, making the aggro players prime early targets and the control players off to the side building up mana and wraths and counterspells. A round robin means that everyone is attacked equally, with the ability to throw around spells and abilities at each other at will.
May 14, 2015 10:56 a.m.
Ahh. That makes sense now that you mention it. Also I'm watching someone play with your Affinity Voltron Storm style deck, but he seems to be drawing rather poorly I'm afraid. It's interesting though, I'd never seen it played before.

Femme, that is not entirely true. It is simple to figure out which deck is going to be strong control, and urge the aggro player to take care of them first. You have to be able to recognize what is happening, and you should never let control build up.
Attacking everyone equally is not good for the game. You should be able to deal with the biggest threat that you see when you want. The way you describe round robin actually seems to help control.

I've always had the most success with slow rampy decks in multiplayer. I have a big green fatty deck that does really well, and my Golgari deck works fine too. Just stall until you get too strong for anyone to deal with. Granted, I don't play with a lot of people that run lots of board wipes, so take that into account.
May 14, 2015 11:13 a.m.
I'd probably use my R/W token deck. Once I get Purphoros, God of the Forge out I deal massive damage purely by enter the battlefield effects. I've dealt 20 damage on turn 5 through 2 Gather the Townsfolks under fateful hour.
May 14, 2015 11:16 a.m.
xzzane DID SOMEONE SAY R/W TOKENS!? :D
Also I'm totally with Sagarys on this one. Fat, mana ramping decks are awesome in multiplayer games. It's just so satisfying to have 4 huge-butted creatures and swing them all at your opponents and kill everyone in one swoop. LOL

It generally goes like this: Aggro and control players team up against the combo player. Then aggro players have to finish each other off as otherwise they'll get trampled on by the other if they try and target the control player. This leaves the control player quite a lot of room. In the early game, you can't just willy nilly swing at the control player as then the aggro player will trample you over seeing an empty board, and knowing that their board state will get removed if they target the control player. You have to remember that modern doesn't have the same levels of diplomacy as EDH does.
May 14, 2015 11:47 a.m.
What if we made a game where there are no control or combo decks? Would that make things more fair then?
May 14, 2015 1:36 p.m.
I would be down for that. Except now I have a question.
Is Pillow Fort considered control? Or is it just Pillow Fort?

FAMOUSWATERMELON says... #33
Yeah, probably control. Or under the piss-off category. Both work. Also, how can you play aggro in a four player game and expect to win?
May 14, 2015 1:59 p.m. Edited.
I've done it with my Spartan deck, FAMOUSWATERMELON. When I first built it, my friends didn't know how it worked. Fabled Hero started swinging for lethal turn 4 with Madcap Skills and Brute Force and never stopped. Turn 5 he had two Madcap Skills (lol!) and was killing each opponent instantly.

Evidently my capabilities are such that if I stayed in this industry (instead of going to grad school for something else), I could be employed as a CISO on a $200,000+ salary.

That alt is actually REALLY funny.
forgets what a CISO is, and is too lazy to look it up

@bigguy99 Kendrick is amazing, but I just didn't like TPAB. It didn't feel like a hip hop album. I definitely preffered his older stuff. TDE, especially Black Hippy, is just amazing. Love all of them. I've heard Earl is good, but I haven't listened to him myself. I'll have to check him out sometime.
@ScorprixI have a couple problems with that list. Kanye used to be good, but now he is trash. Just absolute garbage. Dre isn't lyrical, and isn't anywhere near number the top 5. Drake is just as bad as Kanye. All Drake has is popularity. Eminem is good, but not number one. My list right now is(in no specific order):
Kendrick Lamar
J. Cole
Logic
Joey Badass
Childish Gambino
Note that isn't of all time, just right now.
May 14, 2015 4:55 p.m.
Kanye hasn't veen good since he got married, but was easily one of the best rappers before that.
Eminem is (no pun intended) a Rap God.
Drake is just catchy. Probably not of all time material, but still a great musician.
Cole is lyrically great. Again, probably not of all time, but just a personal favorite.
And Dre is, well, Dre. Great music and is responsible for Em and Snoop, who are both at least good.
May 14, 2015 5:12 p.m.
I think Dre. is endlessly important for his contribution to early hip hop, and development during the golden era.
May 14, 2015 5:17 p.m.
Eminem used be amazing, but now he's just subpar. This is coming from a very long time fan.
Kanye was good on Graduation. That was a long time ago.
Drake is a popular artist, but he's a much better RnB and pop feature artist than true rap. He just can't compete.
Cole is on way to the top.
Dre, while he signed Eminem and Snoop, isn't a great rapper. He made Gangsta Rap and stayed true that. He made music you could smoke to. He isn't and never was lyrical. He'd get demolished if he tried to go toe-to-toe with any other rapper. For these reasons, he isn't top 5 material.
May 14, 2015 5:18 p.m. Edited.
That is indeed true. Tha Chronic and 2001 had amazing beats.
May 14, 2015 5:21 p.m.
I believe he's also responsible for nearly all of doggystyle which is a fantastic album.
