Hey everyone,
I'm from Germany and I just got accepted into an exchange with York University in Toronto. Now I'm of course super excited and have no idea how I'm going to handle everything in time, but one of the few things that I'll have problems getting along without is my MtG Scene. How is the scene at York? Are there regular matches, anything really?
More of that, how is the Standard Scene in Toronto in general? Are there a dozen stores at which the people play or is there a more focused scene on one big store? Are there teams in Toronto that act on a semi-professional level? So many questions right now. Anyone who can tell me?
Thanks in advance!
Hey, I am going to York now. Their MTG club is pretty lack luster from what I have heard they do a lot of drafts that are infrequent. The Seneca MTG club, which is on the same campus is apparently a lot better and there is always someone there who will play various formats.
Standard scene in Toronto, is a little bit harder to answer. I know at Hairy Tarantula North they do a lot of FNM days. Thursday night magic, 4pm FNM (standard) 7pm FNM (Draft, modern, standard). Wednesday I think is pauper. I cannot speak for the other stores but apparently 401 is really fun to play at. Other stores that host FNM would be 1 Million Comix, and probably a bunch more.
Hope this helps a bit

How can they have a lo of drafts that are infrequent, I feel like that's a contradiction.
Apart from that, thanks a lot! Sounds pretty good so far!

Sorry, early in the morning when I typed that. They met infrequently but when they do meet they do drafts, I believe. Seneca's group meets more frequently. I know they both have facebook pages if you want to check them out

I did, of course, forget to ask how the Limited Scene is. Good? Decent? How many drafts can you play a week when you are really committed to Limited?
