I might ask nicely if I can use it as a Mishra's Workshop proxy in my Commander group. Or I just need to man up and make that Trostani, Selesnya's Voice or Rhys the Redeemed deck...

seuvius says... #9

December 5, 2014 8:57 p.m.

TehCoopeh says... #10

According to @Schuesseled, only Christians can play magic. Sorry, Buddhists, Confucians , Hindus, Muslims, Jews, Shintos, Taoists, Zoroastrians, Atheists, and everyone else in the world. You're gonna have to sit this TCG out. :/

December 5, 2014 9:23 p.m.

seuvius says... #11

he never said that XD im not a christian and i still say merry christmas.

December 5, 2014 10 p.m.

Schuesseled says... #12

I would sooner burn out my eyes than walk into a church. Christmas is a Britsh druidic holiday and has fuck all to do with 'Christ'.

December 5, 2014 10:14 p.m.

Schuesseled says... #13

The phrase Happy Holidays was coined by politically correct facists.

December 5, 2014 10:16 p.m.

MarduGras says... #14

Over the years Chrismas has become more of a western holiday than anything. Although I personally prefer saying happy holidays (to be all inclusive) there are many people who believe that Christmas is the biggest holiday during the month of December and choose to say merry Chrismas instead. It really isn't a big deal in my opinion but some people make a big deal about out of it and argue that you can't just ignore people who practice other religions and celebrate different holidays.

JA14732 says... #15

How can I get one? Because I want one. A lot.

December 5, 2014 10:26 p.m.

seuvius says... #16

People need to stop making a big deal out of something so insignificant. People who feel like they aren't included when someone says merry Christmas need to get over themselves, there is so many other things to worry and bitch about that actually have meaning. I love all religion equally, unless you use it as an excuse to forward your fucked up agenda, but that doesn't mean I have to nitpick every little thing I say just so some overly sensitive person doesn't flip out.

-merry Christmas :)

December 5, 2014 10:43 p.m.

Servo_Token says... #17

I don't know a single Atheist who doesn't fucking love when I give them a christmas present. This may just be my personal experience, but it feels to me that Christmas as we know it today has little to nothing to do with the Christmas story anymore (Baby jesus, Myrrh deliveries, follow the star because an angel told you to), and is more a joyous celebration of the people you are thankful for and love most. You know, like what Thanksgiving should be.

So really, unless you're some extremist liberal (and this is coming from a firm, non extremist liberal), you will offend no one by wishing others a merry Christmas. If anything, you can just equate it to "Happy Monday!" if you don't celebrate the holiday. And let's be honest, if you don't celebrate christmas not because of differing religious beliefs, but because you feel like it's a christian only holiday and you aren't invited, you're doing it wrong. Maybe that's how things were in the bass-ackwards century of the 1500s, but times have changed.

And to bring this back on topic to MtG, Silver borders with the M15 border combined look dumb.

I guess this should be moved to the religion forum now? Sheeesh!

While you can dispute Christ's divinity, there's strong historical evidence of his existence from a secular viewpoint. He's arguably the most influential philosopher in western history. Even as an atheist, I'm fine with celebrating Christmas, just like I'm fine celebrating MLK Jr. Day (despite not being black), or honoring Presidents' Day (despite not agreeing with all of our men who served in the Oval Office).

That being said, plenty of religions don't celebrate Christmas (Jews, Buddhists, and Hindus being obvious examples). Getting offended they don't like having to sit out for an entire month is childish. I'd prefer people say "Happy holidays!" to me if I was of one of those religions. This is especially true for Jews who have fundamental disagreements over Christ's divinity with Christians and it goes against their religion to celebrate a holiday they don't believe in.

tl;dr-- Grow the fuck up and enjoy the card, you goddamn nerds.

MarduGras says... #21

Back to the topic of the card... I don't like any of the holiday cards (mostly because I don't have any).

Only through a Wizards Holiday party, apparently. At least that's what I got from the Wikia

December 7, 2014 3:04 a.m.

Or you can buy it.

The cheapest of these promos is like 40 dollars and the most expensive is around 150-200.

And I was kidding about that religion thing, guys, oops.

December 7, 2014 8:38 a.m.

OpenFire says... #31

Wasn't the date for Christmas picked to coincide with a pagan holiday (Saturnalia or Dies Natalis Solis Invicti) to draw away from it?

December 7, 2014 9:19 p.m.

nayrash5 says... #32

that flavortext is unbearable...

All kidding aside, I want one for the lulz, too bad these will prob be $100 by the time any stores get a hold of them.

JakeHarlow says... #34

Well, Stocking Tiger is kind of adorable!

December 15, 2014 3:20 a.m.

We have the Happy Holidays phrase because we live in the age where you look to be offended by something because you know you'll get something out of it. More people need some Hardened Scales and less Mizzium Skin. (I don't know where I was going with that but you get the idea.)

On the topic of the card; Can all promotional cards have the foiled border? I really like the look of it!
