So, for those who aren't aware, if you play in the main event of a GP, you receive a promo. Well, 2016's is quite a doozy.

So they're letting us in for free?

Ej1997 - Not quite. You still have to sign up for the GP Main event, which is usually $75+. But for playing in the main event, you get a GP Promo as part of your entry. You won't get a promo if you just go into the GP and mill around at the Side events or the vendors.

JWiley129 I think the implication is that this will be worth at least that much.

xcn - I highly doubt that, since the GP Griselbrand is $11, but a regular Griselbrand is about that much anyways. I think that since they will be printing so many of these, the price won't go above $30.

I don't think the art is even close to as good as the original though.

JWiley129- The difference is griselbrand is banned in edh and sees fringe play in modern unlike stone forge Mystic who is played in both otherwise. If griselbrand was playable in edh his alt price would be a lot higher for people wanting to use him as a commander

Stoneforge Mystic is banned in modern actually. So they are both banned in 1 or the other.

Ej1997 - Here is a list of the GP Promos as listed on TCG Player. I'd like you to compare those prices to the TCG Mid price of: All Is Dust, Batterskull, Goblin Guide, and Primeval Titan. You'll find their prices very similar to the price of the GP Foil, with none more than $10 above the regular printing's non-foil price.

As you should, Ej1997. /s

Sarcasm aside, the economics of these types of promos is interesting and not something we examine too closely. Considering that GPs get roughly around 1000 entrants at minimum and 5000 at maximum, and at 50 GPs in 2016 that's 50,000 Stoneforge Mystic promos at minimum. We're probably looking at 100,000 promos over the course of the year, give or take a few hundred.

Pretty sweet, but I much prefer the original art. This new one doesn't even really look like a Kor.
