Ajani In Journey to Nyx?

There may already be a forum for this ,but I cannot find one. In a picture released there is definitely a Leonin by Elspeth. From the weapon and other appearance this seems to look a lot like Ajani.
It's been mentioned several times. There will be another planeswalker in JOU, and I would say that Ajani is the most likely, based on that promotional image. Popular speculation has him as G/W, but there is little solid evidence to back that up. The other major contender is Dack Fayden, who is theorized to show up in U, U/B, or U/R colors.

Considering Dack was the big hype when Theros came up, I'm guessing that we'll either get JUST Dack, or Dack and Ajani.

That is possible as well. But my judging from the image is Ajani will at least be mentioned in some shape or form. Dack is a possibility as well. Dack maybe could be a legendary creature though.

This is the full image. I believe it will be on a poster, similar to the ones they have for Elspeth slaying the hydra.
@The Doctor I disagree, the only sign we've seen of Dack was that image from his comic. Regardless, there are only 5 planeswalkers per block, so we definitely won't see Dack and Ajani.

Dack is a planeswalker. It would be very odd, and a mistake on creative's side I feel, to have him show up as a legendary creature.

The_Doctor] the only hype about Dack came from Players, not WoTC. IDW did feature him, but they have been for awhile. It's mostly players screaming 'Give me Dack as a planeswalkjer card to play'. Consider that WoTC works 2 years a head of us, they didn't have the hype for him they do now, so in a couple years we might see him..

With small sets, Wizards releases Planeswalkers as 3-1-1. It will most likely be Ajani in the Jounrey into Nyx as it fits not only the storyline but also the released pictures.

raithe000 there are 4 whole issues that take place IN Theros starring Dack, not just one image. (I own them and they aren't half bad.)

I don't know much of anything about Dack myself, but maybe he represents one of "Us" the player(s).. (who are also technically "Planewalkers"..)

Nope, it's not a complete volume yet so there will probably be a new comic coming out soon-ish. There were 3 volumes (imagine that) for RTR where Dack popped back to INN after being ran out of RAV. (Chased by Sorin Markov I might add.)

According to MaRo, people want Dack as a playable PW more than design does. He doesn't mention R&D producing Dack in the near future, especially not in JOU

I'd be ok with an Ajani, I kinda hope he's G/W though since that's the only 2 color combination walker we are missing.
Ajani has always been a lifegain/tokens walker so he plays right into my types of decks. G/W would be perfect since he would be buddies with Trostani, Selesnya's Voice .

Actually, after looking at the spoiler poster with Ajani, Xenagos, and Elspeth on it, I saw something interesting. They're fighing on broken statues, and you can clearly see the face of Erebos on the lower statue, and the broken face statue above him is likely Pharika, with the snake-hair and being worshipped by gorgons. Foreshadowing much?

Great source Oletorpedo! Thank you for providing it. I to agree that could be GW. After all he is from Naya. He no longer is RW, so he should still be white with another color in addition.

That letter was written when Elspeth first arrived on Theros, before she even killed the hydra or the events of BNG. Whether she is about to die or not, that letter has no impact on it.

@Mac97 NP.
Seeing as Ajani have been a W/R previously, he might end up being just that this time around as well.But, for all we know he might up being pure W too. WotC are changing it up with Xenagos being both a planeswalker and a creature in the same block, so who knows. Unlikely as it sounds.
Or maybe Ajani also becomes a creature? That would be absolutely hilarious!

I don't think Ajani will be R/W in Journey into Nyx. There's already going to be a R/W mythic, the god Iroas.
Also, I don't think that 2 mono-W 'walkers will show up in the same block. There are players who still don't like planeswalkers so it would be unfair on them to limit the white mythic goodies they get out of the block by too much.
This bodes well for a G/W Ajani!

Why does everyone assume that cat is Ajani? Brimaz, King of Oreskos is the most badass Kitty in the Theros plane right now. Why couldn't it be him?
I'm expecting Dack too. He'll be an Izzet planeswalker to accompany the Izzet scryland to make Izzet a solid choice in Standard again.

I doubt we'll see an Izzet planeswalker along with the Izzet God. Two Mythic Rares in U/R would cause such an uproar.

The artwork depictions of characters changes so much depending on the artist. But the cat in the artwork next to Elspeth does look golden brown to me. It could be either cat, or neither or them.
Lore-wise Ajani and Elspeth have some connections, but how many mono-white planeswalkers do we need in Standard at one time?

Ajani is very well defined as an albino leonin. It's a major part of his character. And that cat is definitely white on my screen, he is wielding an axe that looks like half of Ajani's staff (Ajani, Caller of the Pride for reference) and is wearing pauldrons that look just like Ajani's. While it hasn't been shown in a block yet, Ajani and Elspeth are very close in a lot of the lore.
And people don't think we will have another mono-white planeswalker. We think Ajani will be G/W.

Because that's him in the picture, we already have a white planeswalker in the block and it would put three in standard, G/W has never had a planeswalker, and Ajani is from Naya and the R/W version doesn't really fit lore-wise anymore.

Lore-wise, it makes no sense for Ajani to be G/W either, unless they do something to him. He wore a green outfit in the Ajani Goldmane card, but he was still mono-white.
If they do this, I'm going to call him Fleecemane Ajani...and be disappointed at their lack of creativity.

SharuumNyan You do know that Ajani is from the Naya shard right? R/W/G? He has been seen as Ajani Vengeant for R/W so why not G/W?

The green in the outfit isn't relevant to him being G/W obviously. R/W doesn't fit because A) Ajani lost his anger towards Nicol Bolas after the events of Alara Reborn and B) It's been stated that Alara block took place earlier than Lorwyn block, in which Ajani is mono-white. G/W would be consistent with him being from Naya, and we don't know what exactly Ajani has been doing for quite a while.
He could be Naya, R/W or even Mono-White, but I'd bet on G/W for the reasons stated above.
