Angrath Speculation

The newest Planeswalker Angrath, which we should see in Rivals, has been alluded to in the Ixalan flavor. We know some things: he is a Minotaur, a pirate captain, he is trapped on Ixalan, he is going to be /x, he enjoys destruction, and he uses magical chains. His face is on booster packs, with art from the card Hijack. We also see his crew in Angrath's Marauders.
What will this card look like? What would you like to see? How will Angrath tie into the story?
I suspect Huatli is not going to be joining the Gatewatch, but personally, I hope Jace recruits Angrath for some future adventure.
He is a good minotaur, he's just trapped, and angry he can't get back home to his family. So I think it'll be reasonable for him to feel like the Gatewatch is something he can subscribe to. Maybe:
"For every family, on every world, I will keep watch."

As far as abilities go, I am leaning away from a token producer, as all 3 planeswalkers from the last set produced some. I am thinking maybe a loot effect similar to Nahiri, the Harbinger or a lifeloss draw effect similar to Sarkhan the Mad perhaps, being the plus loyalty ability. I also think depending on starting loyalty the minus ability could be some sort of heavily costed Pyroclasm type effect. If it starts with 4 loyalty maybe make it cost 4 to sweep the board, kind of thing. As far as an ultimate I could speculate a bunch of stuff but since nothing else is in pirate theme it could place a few treasure token and then deal damage equal to the number of treasures you control.

Mardu seems possible, but i'd rather think he'll be rakdos. Considering his hot chain fighting style, i think a removal ability as the +1 seems possible. Some Sign in Blood style ability sounds like a good -1, and a pyroclasm ultimate seems realistic.

Maybe a Hijack ultimate, gain control of 2 non-land permanents or something like that but its permanent not just till end of turn

I bet itll be sacrifice something for Damage and gain control of something UEoT, hot chains seem to lend themselves to grabbing stuff and injuring it, and he wrecks stuff based on Angrath's Marauders

seshiro_of_the_orochi dang good call, hell be the tie in since we know thats the next plane. Maybe Jace takes him there or he says if Jace helps him planeswalk hell help him get his memory back. I wonder why hes stuck though, assuming not spark related like Ob Nixilis Reignited since that would be lame. Maybe he cant remember?

Jace is getting his memory back at the end of the Ixalan stories. Hell have it back for the beginning of Rivals.

Angrath is not from Dominaria. He's from a plane we haven't heard of yet.
He's stuck on Ixalan for the same reason everyone else is: Ixalan's binding.

Well, the spoiler is out. I am pretty into this card.
Angrath, Minotaur Pirate
Comes in with an initial 5 loyalty.
+2Angrath, Minotaur Pirate deals 1 damage to target opponent and each creature that player controls.
-3Return target Pirate card from your graveyard to the battlefield.
-11Destroy all creatures target opponent controls. Angrath, Minotaur Pirate deals damage to that player equal to their total power.

And I am proud to announce I was correct in my R/B guess! This planeswalker pack one could even be standard playable if tokens becomes a thing

Jimmy_Chinchila you are correct. I should have mentioned that as well. I think I was just impressed at some of the speculation in this thread that I got too ahead of myself.
It will be interesting to see if anything else in this thread comes out on another version of Angrath.

Looks pretty good. I wish the minus ability was not limited to CMC 3 or less, but I will take it. I do like the multiple opponent discard ability. Should work nice in a few of my decks.

I think hell be /, the last Rakdos walker wasnt even in a rotation-set (Daretti, Ingenious Iconoclast), and black is another of the pirate colors. I dont think hell be mono-red, as most new Planeswalkers we meet tend to be dual-color. I dont think the cards that allude to him reflect any blue aspect, he seems to be using magic of rage and destruction.
