re invocation of traft, it kinda feels like new jace.
It's as uninspiring as it is fitting.

So I really want to play Continue the Bloodline as a 2 of in a W/B control deck. It'd be nice to get some fodder and life sources when I have some dead removal in hand or draw into lands. Also great with Gideon, Ally of Zendikar to boot.

what does everyone think about the new defender artifact?
Personally I feel a 2/2 defender for is a great for a control deck. Then just flip it at your opponent's EOT when you don't need a counterspell, and start smashing for 4 in the air

There is a fairly large amount of awesome creatures in limited that will have 2 or less toughness. For 1 mana in any color that can trade with these creatures then become a threat. I will draft then for sure.

The FitnessGram Pacer Test is a multistage aerobic capacity test that progressively gets more difficult as it continues. The 20 meter pacer test will begin in 30 seconds. Line up at the start. The running speed starts slowly but gets faster each minute after you hear this signal bodeboop. A sing lap should be completed every time you hear this sound. ding Remember to run in a straight line and run as long as possible. The second time you fail to complete a lap before the sound, your test is over. The test will begin on the word start. On your mark. Get ready! Start. ding

I still cannot believe that Nahiri actually thinks that Sorin is responsible foe the eldrazi attacking Zendikar, and that she thinks that attacking Innistrad will somehow undo the damage that they did; she seemed to be so rational, before, but perhaps battling against world-devouring monstrosities that are indescribably horrifying affected her sanity?

so i have some questions about that traft echantment.
ONE: Why did they feel the need to give the "Traft ability" but not give it +2/+2?
TWO: Why is a random angel that is not aligned with sigarda helping people instead of slaughtering them?
THREE: Why did this card need to exist...unless Traft is dead...redead?

DemonDragonJ I don't think she knows that the Eldrazi got out, or else she would probably have gone and done something instead of plotting revenge on Sorin. I think the same thing that is affecting Avecyn affected her first.

I don't think Traft is "Dead". He is in the art for the card, maybe he is only hanging around in spirit.

I just read up on his lore and the angel that comes is the one that failed to protect him in his mortal life. So regular angels now kill people but ghost angels still helps ghost people. Got it.

Why are there no reprints so far? Anyone else find it odd that they aren't making ANY considering that "we are no longer making core sets and will just do reprints in regular block sets" - Paraphrased from Wizards

There are a few so far - Fiery Temper, Lightning Axe, Dead Weight and Macabre Waltz.

Hah! That rules. Needs a hockey mask somewhere in the art, though.

apparently the number 13 is hidden all over the card too

Oh man. I don't know how, but I'm going to make a deck around that card. It's gonna be janky as hell and beautiful.
March 22, 2016 1:27 a.m.
The flavour is insane.
13 is indeed everywhere. Count the amount of like objects in the art.
13 blood drips.
13 hanging utensils.
26 stones in the fireplace (13 in the body and 13 in the arch).
13 rivets on the barrel.
13 boards in the ceiling.
13 boards on the walls.
13 glass shards on the floor.
13 logs in the fireplace.
Even 13 words in each choice.
That makes 11 sets of 13. If there are not 2 more I missed, I will be EXTREMELY disappointed.
Well done WotC. Well done. 13/13. I need a foil.

How about just jamming four of these into a B/x standard control deck and just living the dream? I'm going to do it at some point, this isn't a question of may or if this WILL be a deck I will bring to an FNM.

TheHroth I was searching for the last two sets of thirteen and I found them. It is the literal two number 13's in the card text.
March 22, 2016 1:51 a.m.
Dalektable That crossed my mind, but I really hope it isn't the case. It would be hideously underwhelming.

The black enchantment is perfect as a rare IMO.
Since Theros there has been way to much enchantment destruction. Dromoka's Command did not help this. Now we finally have a block where, barring any rediculous spoiled uncommons, enchantments get to matter again. It may finally be like in the olden days where you resolve a game winning enchantment and it's a real threat game 1 and opponent's have to actually put something in their deck game 2 that doesn't help them win to deal with it. While it does have an "I win" effect it is an extremely slow clock on it's own so I think it's fine as a Rare.
Mini Rant on the Command and Flip-Walker Cycle

Did anyone mention how the dual land cycle are checklands that check your hand? Yeah, not that good.
Triskaidephobia is so cool. Don't you still manipulate life totals even if nobody has 13 life? Seems really good.
And I am making an Insidious Mist deck for standard.

13 characters in the artist's name including the space.
March 22, 2016 2:21 a.m.
I disagree with you on Jace. Kytheon is a 1 mana flip-walker.
March 22, 2016 2:22 a.m.
Kytheon is also much harder to set up than Jace and has very low impact outside of combat, which he is bad at until turn 3 despite being a 1 drop. Look @ any of the other flip-walkers from that set then look at Jace. Clearly his cost is stupidly good. To put it another way with Jace they took a Merfolk Looter and gave it a powerful walker side that was easy to access. With Kytheon they took an Isamaru, Hound of Konda and made him worse, then gave him a worse planeswalker side than Jaces, then made him harder to flip. He's hard enough to flip and requires so much dedicated build to it that those two facets completely overwhelm his benefits of reduced cost. I would honestly be happier using Bushi Tenderfoot + Defiant Strike .

And the thirteenth and final thirteen, is the mana cost, which is 1 B and 3 generic. 13!
March 22, 2016 3:53 a.m.
I was kind of hoping for a Polukranos, World Eater type monster with 13 Xs in it but that's spiffy to. : )
Oh or a creature that is absurdly powerful when there are exactly 13 cards in a graveyard!
March 22, 2016 4:06 a.m.
I read it initially as "Choose one: Each player with 13 life loses or each player with 13 life loses" Which Admittedly was silly, but also would have been wonderfully amazing too
March 22, 2016 4:34 a.m.
Counting the space, there's 13 characters in the Artist's name
The mana cost is 1 and - visual representation of 13
I would have to see a clearer/closer picture... but I'm guessing there are 13 links in the chain holding the pot.
I would also guess that the picture was originally done without the terrified man, and that there were 13 trees visible outside.

Triskaidephobia looks like one of those cards that you'd find on mtgcardsmith and wonder what the hell the person was on to think of it.
Like it's cool and all, but I'm at the point of, "is this actually a real card?"
March 22, 2016 7:57 a.m.
Interesting 2-drop 2/2.
Seems good in a go-wide strategy.
March 22, 2016 8 a.m.
This seems like s slow inverse of The Rack... which also means you opponent gets cards...

At the rate Nekusar gets cards like that it kinda makes me wanna build around him, and then just wait for the deck to get better and better.
March 22, 2016 8:26 a.m.
then you will have less and less friends as Nekusar griefer is notoriously boring and nobody (or not many people) like playing against it. I run him for colours and as some draw power in tribal zombies with absolutely no way to abuse him, and he is still frowned up. A wheel.dec deck made about him is pretty boring and unoriginal
March 22, 2016 8:51 a.m.
Fevered Visions... Black Vise with card draw? Except in colors and more expensive
dragon_slayer says... #1
Although I am no expert, it seems like this is too cumbersome for Bogles, as it costs three and doesn't provide a p/t boost, which is what the deck really wants. If you were to splash blue, it seems like the Geist himself would just be better.
With that said, I love the card and the flavor is great!
