Sorry, double post

Stormcaller I guess that would also work in elf ball with Cloudstone Curio now you have a second Heritage Druid type card. Who plays elves?

March 25, 2016 12:58 p.m.

Ashockfan says... #4

AwesomeName true, but have the real versions of those cards been spoiled at all?

also...

Pale Rider of Trostad

...

WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK.... 2 mana 3/3 skulk with upside O_o

March 25, 2016 12:59 p.m.

AwesomeName says... #5

@Ashockfan, Yeah, WOTC has every single card in the set on here.

March 25, 2016 1:01 p.m.

Pale Rider of Toast is strong with Heir of Falkenrath that makes for a fast clock.

March 25, 2016 1:01 p.m.

Stormcaller says... #7

mymanpotsandpans I've never seen anyone play elves ever ;)

I think this card is an instant staple for any elf and/or green commander deck ever.

It's possible that no-one else will know what the hell I'm talking about, but the art on Cathar's Companion reminds me a lot of the hideous dog model in that god-awful 2012 Game of Thrones game.

Right?

Quick questions:

How good do you think [Alms of the Vein is]?(http://media.wizards.com/2016/aksdjciawolkcc0_soi/en_pALi18FuRi.png) It seems great for aggresive, but not sure how worth it it actually is in anything slower.

How much mana is a clue really worth? they seem to value it at around 1 mana, but im not so sure.

and lastly, POWER CREEP has been called:

[Chaplain's Blessing](http://media.wizards.com/2016/aksdjciawolkcc0_soi/en_BaLUR1YJs6.png)

Healing Salve, Sacred Nectar, and Recuperate and many more are crying in the corner of the room

March 25, 2016 1:19 p.m.

I honestly can't remember when I saw a set with so many powerful uncommons (and commons as a matter of a fact). Grant it I stopped playing just as Mirrodin came out and returned during Khans so I missed a bunch of powerful sets, but man, so many useful cards.

March 25, 2016 1:20 p.m.

Ashockfan says... #11

oops, my links fucked up... dk why

Alms of the Viens

Chaplain's Blessing

Also, I think Lamplighter of Selhoff is one of the coolest visual designs for a monster in Magic.

Eerie Interlude is better than Ghostway because you can choose which Creatures to Exile.

That means that you could leave Tokens on the field, if they weren't going to get hosed.

mirite?

March 25, 2016 1:56 p.m.

Puncturing Light got a reprint in this set. That is solid removal for limited to use. There are a large amount of small p/t cards with really good abilities in this set. Wizards did good.

Bellock86 says... #15

Ashockfan

Alms of the Veins = mono black Lava Spike with lifelink.

Yeah I'm definitely putting together R/B madness together and getting back into standard

March 25, 2016 2:51 p.m.

Guftders says... #16

The set is completely AMAZING XD My only reservations, is that, Broken Concentration, the madness counterspell costs MORE to cast off of madness...

So we can Lightning Bolt (despite their policy on one mana kill spells), but Counterspell is OP??

March 25, 2016 2:55 p.m.

I think this set is the best that's been printed since the first Innistrad block. The perfect combination of flavor, synergy, and power. I absolutely love it.

March 25, 2016 3:12 p.m.

Ashockfan says... #18

Guftders

That's for a completely different reason. The First madness counterspell broke the format... they wanted to be conservative with this one. I think that's a good decision, and the card is still good. You're getting a LOT of value when you play a card that was discarded. its essentially like drawing a card, and doing other stuff depending on the enabler, such as flipping a jace or a heir.

March 25, 2016 3:19 p.m.

VampireArmy says... #19

Player A casts something

Player B taps jace, draws a card. discards counterspell and casts it.

would you want them to have mana open for another?

March 25, 2016 3:21 p.m.

Ashockfan says... #20

yep.

March 25, 2016 3:28 p.m.

MagicalHacker says... #21

Did we only get 5 legendary creatures?

March 25, 2016 4:15 p.m.

elpokitolama says... #22

Well, B/R vampires have their 8 one drops, and this one is really, really impressive.

Come on, common? This shit is brutal!

March 25, 2016 4:53 p.m.

Canadion says... #23

Kinda sucks we didn't get the legendary werewolf in this set but guess that means it's in Eldritch Moon, which seems fitting for werewolves.

March 25, 2016 4:53 p.m.

Bellock86 says... #24

I really hope my sealed pool allows me to play B/R Madness or U/R spells matter.

Flavor aside (which is impressive to say the least) this set has so much synergy my Johnny bone is about to break from tingling so much.

Is there any way I can get infinite dredge with the Gitrog and a few dredge cards? so far I have The Gitrog Monster + Dakmor Salvage + Fastbond + Land Sac Outlet

March 25, 2016 5:19 p.m.

TMBRLZ says... #26

I'm building Werewolf Tribal in Standard, because that's how much I care about Standard, given that it never fires around here. Maybe SOI will change that for more than a week this time. (that's about how long Standard interest lasted around here excluding FNM after Oath released)

I don't care if it will be good or not once I'm done. At least I'll enjoy it. Gives me good flashbacks to my Rakdos Minotaur Tribal deck from THS block.

March 25, 2016 5:28 p.m.

lemmingllama says... #27

@CheeseBro The Gitrog Monster + Dakmor Salvage + Wild Mongrel. You don't need the land to be in play, anytime it hits the graveyard from anywhere it triggers.

March 25, 2016 5:37 p.m.

Can someone post a picture of Harvesting hand, I haven't seen it yet and can't find ut

A couple of the artifacts actually look playable. Will Smash to Smithereens finally have it's time to shine?

March 25, 2016 6:13 p.m.

Oddyst says... #32

Stoneforge Masterwork may rise in price ;/.

March 25, 2016 6:16 p.m.

WacoCatbox says... #33

So what do you think pairs better with a hearty "cryptolith rite"? A nice oaky Roar of the Kha or more of a sweeter To Arms!? (for modern play--no Vitalize)

March 25, 2016 7:29 p.m.

Mindgrind says... #34

I'm just a tad bit convinced that the scarecrow abundance in this set is to appease Reaper King edh players

March 25, 2016 7:37 p.m.

jcofer says... #35

ducttapedeckbox-

I suppose Skin Invasion would be fun to enchant opponent's utility creatures like: Bob. Gives red more one-drop removal with a great upside.

March 25, 2016 8:58 p.m.

CheeseBro says... #36

I seriuosly love this set. Thoughts on this card in R/B vamp madness?

March 25, 2016 9:59 p.m.

VampireArmy says... #37

It's okay but lacks haste. I'm going to test it but it's like just a bit too slow.

March 25, 2016 10:03 p.m.

Monsmtg says... #38

@Mindgrind most certainly. Now I'm just waiting for service for squirrel tribal.

March 25, 2016 10:05 p.m.

VampireArmy You should take into consideration that when it comes to madness you don't need haste as much. Would it make the creature way better? Yes. Though you could end of turn discard this and place it out before untapping and swinging. Always keep that in mind. Plus you do have haste enablers like Olivia, Mobilized for War to keep in mind.

March 25, 2016 10:06 p.m.

VampireArmy says... #40

Trust me i know. I picked up the deck and have been testing cards in it religiously for the last two weeks. It's not a bad card but there is too much of a good thing going on for this deck.

March 25, 2016 10:09 p.m.

Rayenous says... #41

So, this goes straight into my Modern Doran, the Siege Tower deck.

March 25, 2016 10:22 p.m.

+1 Rayenous. That's great synergy.

March 25, 2016 10:25 p.m.

kengiczar says... #43

That is so disgusting with Doran..

March 25, 2016 10:25 p.m.

CheeseBro says... #44

oh thats mean

March 25, 2016 10:49 p.m.

Mindgrind says... #45

Oh boy

March 25, 2016 10:58 p.m.

PistonGolem says... #46

An idea pops into my mind Woa... Dats gonna be "fun" to play against...

March 25, 2016 11:16 p.m.

Wizno says... #47

So it's an odd combo but I am digging the possible synergy between Liliana's Indignation+Gravepurge.

Mill, do damage, get your creatures back on top, repeat, GG?

March 26, 2016 12:08 a.m.

tempest says... #48

how are you getting liliana's indignation back though?

sidenote. that flavor text though. wonder what happens that causes jace to accuse lili... "Days ago, you came to my door asking for help, Jace. Yet now here you are with accusations?"

March 26, 2016 12:40 a.m.

In regards to gitrog monster combo from the previous page, if the mana could work, I'd do The Gitrog Monster + Dakmor Salvage + Seismic Assault. Maybe include a way to shuffle your yard back into your deck when you needed to?

March 26, 2016 12:52 a.m.

Kroto says... #50

Day's Undoing brings the yard back and refills your hand. There was another 4 cmc blue spell that shuffles target player's grave into their deck but I don't remember the name.
