And just to clarify, exiling him would not trigger his ability because he needs to die which means he would have to go to the graveyard.

You could power it out on T3 using a Burning-Tree Emissary chain and Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx .
I'm not saying he'll see competitive Standard play. Just that somebody, somewhere will do it.

Well, the thing is that people who would use the BTE + Nykthos chain would fuck themselves over vs deck that can kill him since they spend like 5 cards to play the giant, and the other player just one card to kill it. So after the trigger resolves they'd likely be stuck in topdeck mode while the other player likely has 2-4 cards left.

You don't want it to die that soon, instead it's to put people in a very tight spot.
Mono-Black can only kill creatures, so even if they Bile Blight
your BTEs, you still have a 10/10 that easily outraces their Desecration Demon
. If they kill the giant, there goes their board presence, too.
Against Control, they can either Detention Sphere
the BTEs and leave you with the 10/10, or D-Sphere the Giant and leave you with several 2/2s + whatever you cast next.
Both Rw burn and Wr aggro could use this guy because they use Chained to the Rocks and Boros Charm . Again, I'm not saying it's competitive, but getting it out early would be a very awkward situation for your opponent.

Might see my sideboard inAmerican control against aggro decks with closing power, like GW. We'll see, one of on the sideboard at most for me.

I really like this card from a casual standpoint. Hitting 8 mana is not hard for a casual/commander deck, or even a simple ramp deck. I really hope this guy sees play somewhere. Thankfully, we're getting more exiling spells such as Silence the Believers and Gild .

With an 8 CMC I'm not so sure about that.
He would need trample to be any kind of decent.
And outside of limited, I'm not even sure in what kind of deck he would be even considered to be an inclusion, apart from some chaos-inducing Commander decks maybe.
