Sooooo... what does everyone think?

@Dalektable I agree he definitely a better replacement for Stormbreath. On another note I beat everyone by seconds lol! That is if you look at the list on which these were created.

I can dig this in EDH, maybe. Repeatable damage to creatures, or a consistent beatstick that doesn't die, plus a potential for something resembling card advantage in red. Plus, pure Dragon flavor for Karrthus or Zirilan.

He's really good. Almost certain to see play in standard, and I want one for my cube.

I really like this guy, his ultimate I'm not thrilled about but a pseudo repeatable mizzium mortar beat stick storm breath gimme gimme lol

Damn. He makes me want to go back to my Rakdos Control deck.

Sarkhan seems very good, and very flavorful with his dragon-omancy. Seems very good for Standard and maybe in Modern? I'm not sure if RDW needs 5-drops though. Could see play in a control deck just as a 4/4 flyer.

@WovenNebula The ultimate certainly looks like the least useful mode (sort of Vraska-esque in that sense). It's rare card draw for red, but the decks that could best leverage it probably won't want to have a CMC this high.

The ultimate is too late in the game for Reanimation, maybe cross your fingers for burn draw at that time. I can definitely see him in mono red but in modern I'm not sure where he will fit, in standard tho he will be a blast for sure.

Sooo, his +1 makes him a Stormbreath Dragon (although vulnerable to Devouring Light , his -3 is Stoke the Flames , and his ult is an end game emblem. Yeah, my Temur deck is running this SO hard.

He is pretty meh. Dies so easily. Sure 4 is great, but I'm sure there is better things you can do on turn 5 for 5 mana. So you got rid of a guy, Sarkhan is now at 1, they send a chump into him and the rest at you. Why not a tooth claw and tail effect Even more better...Switch his +1 with his -3. or hell EVEN BETTER give him a Form of the Dragon effect for his ult. This is about the same as Vraska the Unseen

Where did you get these card images from? They are not showing up on mythicspoiler.

So I got Stormbreath Dragon 5-8 for my standard decks? It also has a built in Flame Slash and attainable ultimate that is nuts late game?
I'm in love. He is great and can fit into so many archetypes.

Yeah I definitely want Sarkhan, I think a red aggro list wants a few copies of Sarkhan, exchanged with Stormbreath Dragon post sideboard. I don't really know which is better when, Sarkhan can be removal, cannot be killed by creature removal, actually pretty attainable ultimate that gives card draw in a color that doesn't actually get it often, whereas Stormbreath can't be killed on the crackback and is pro-white, can get bigger and punish a card-draw heavy deck.
His ult makes him pretty freaking good for Mono-red because you can drill down to get burn, more guys to go wide, or some other sort of stall-breaker that can push damage through like a Fanatic of Mogis . The way I see it if you can't cast it by turn 7 or later in monored you shouldn't have put it in your deck, and if it doesn't help deal damage you don't care about discarding it.

I feel I should clarify, I was talking about Mono-Red aggro. Although he seems pretty good in midrange (fills the same slot as Stormbreath, which sees play in Gruul and Jund Monsters)
And if Red/X control becomes a thing he's fine in that too as a beater and removal. His ult is probably less good in control if it's like UW where you wanna hold up things like Azorius Charm or Sphinx's Revelation

Of note Sarkhan is better against Elspeth, Sun's Champion than Stormbreath Dragon mainly because it does not die to her minus 4 if they play elspeth on 6. Then again the dragon is better against Banishing Light and white flying blockers so there is a trade off.

I like how there were three Sarkhan threads created all within the same minute...lol. Well I like him :D
