Sounds like a lot of fun, but not really playable in standard or in limited. Might be a fun EDH card for those 5 mana generals. Sad he can't be one himself

I can only see him being used in EDH at this point... If it had/gave Hexproof/Indestructible, then it would have more play.
But a 5 color creature that's fairly easy to deal with probably won't see a lot of constructed play, and unless we see more/better mana fixing in this set, it won't see limited play until the entire block is released, and there are drafts with all 3 sets (there is a lot of fixing in Theros)

When i read that card, the first words that came into my head were, "what in the fuck is this? i think i get it, but at the same time, i don't" type of thing. but then i saw the artwork and i fell in love. anyways, that card is terrible but everybody at one point is going to make it, and maybe one person might make it work. also, i thought that they were trying to make standard 1-2 colored format. That thing is 5 freaking colors.

Btw the forums at mtgsalvation are, there is no other way to say it, butthurt about Chromanticore not being legendary AND the fact it exists. They do not understand the Timmy-ness of this card.
Although if I were to nitpick, I would like it to be a 5/5 instead of a 4/4. But this is fine :D

@JWiley129: I'm kinda happy it's not legendary. That way I can have a playset in standard without having to worry about stupid legendary rulings.

thePESSIMIST - Me too. I hope there's a 5-color control deck that tries to run Chromanticore and bestow as many Chromanticores on it as possible XD

Rayenous I never realized you can drop it on the field that fast. But maybe wait until turn 4 or 5 so that you have Mizzium Skin or another Regen/Hexproof mana open just in case that happens. That way you can make your opponent waste their spell, and maybe still have some for the next turn. (Especially considering the amount of hexproof/regenerate there is in RTR block)
