Whoa! Copies planeswalkers.

Nice Garruk, Apex Predator you have there. It would be a shame if someone CLONED IT!

That's the first thing I saw with this card too! Nice Garruk Apex Hunter be a shame if I killed him with my own copy! It also works for enchantments such as say a god that you could have online even if your opponent can't.

So it's a Clone ... but much, much better.
Me gusta.

So many questions for this...
First being, if I copy an Aura, do I get to attach it to whatever I want...? (Note: normally you have to choose the target as you cast the Aura.) - or does it simply go to the graveyard, as it is an aura that is not attached to anything (excluding bestowed creatures, of course).
If you do get to attach it to a legal target, then it gets around hexproof/shroud, as it does not target the creature you will be attaching it to.

I'd love to play this as a copy of...
Karn Liberated
Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker
Garruk, Apex Predator
Emrakul, the Aeons Torn
off of an opponents Show and Tell
.

@Rayenous - I would assume it works similar to how Sun Titan can get around hexproof by returning an aura from the graveyard.

I hope so... and if it does, I have to play it with Gift of Immortality ... just to confuse my opponents.
Which brings up another interesting idea.
Use Gift of Immortality
...
Copy it with this...
Creature dies and comes back...
This comes back, but can enter as something else...
So you choose an equipment card...
Since Gift of Immortality states that it returns 'attached' to the creature that returned, it will be attached to that creature. - There you have a really difficult way around paying an Equip cost. :)

So good! Much better than some older shapeshifters...
September 4, 2014 11:39 a.m.
@Rayenous - "Attached" and "Equipped" are different in game terms. Attached is used for enchantments, and equipped is for equipments.
Once OmniClone (nickname I've seen around) is back on the battlefield, it will no longer be an enchantment so it can't be attached to a creature.
At least, I think that's how it would work.

My reaction to this card: saw cost, saw rarity, read once, sighed. Clone became a mythic and harder to cast? Reread, ooooo not Clone, but Clone 2.0! Definitely fun to be had with this card.

In EDH it's another card to clone my Doubling Cube .
The question is, does it do anything I would want to be doing with Phyrexian Metamorph ? This could have gotten away with being a rare. At mythic? Don't get me wrong, it's a decent card, but mythic? It would feel more like it if it was, say, a 3drop legendary creature with clone anything.

This is literally the one of the best cards ever printed in history! The ability to copy planeswalkers, enchantments, Auras, O rings, creatures, artifacts, and anything else that Is not a land! It is the best!!!

Also works its way around shroud/ hexproof . doesn't target

i'd say a creature that can become a copy of a planeswalker or an enchantment seems pretty mythic.
creatures and artifacts are physical objects that are easy enough to copy or replicate. a creature that can become a copy of an enchantment? i can't fully wrap my head around what that even means. imagine a creature turning into a piece of magic capable of exiling a permanent Banishing Light or giving more power and toughness to an entire team Collective Blessing . or summoning a creature that can suddenly develop the loyalty and abilities of a planeswalker? i think the flavor of what this card does makes it more mythic than just thinking of its abilities in the context of a card game.
also, multiples of these running around a limited environment could get kindof screwy.

I've seen a lot of confusion on the mythic spoiler page about copying walkers. I'll just repost what I posted there.
"For those thinking he would enter with 0 counters if copying a planeswalker, I invite you to look at rule 306.5b: "A planeswalker is treated as if its text box included, This permanent enters the battlefield with a number of loyalty counters on it equal to its printed loyalty number. This ability creates a replacement effect (see rule 614.1c)"
Since Clone effects will copy anything printed on the card itself he will be treated the same way."

I wish this and Restoration Angel were in standard together...

VampireArmy: It depends. Phyrexian Metamorph can have it's own uses, like in my deck Alloyed Knights. There are benefits to being an artifact, after all :P

Lol, hmmm... let's discuss how we can break this guy with what we have (or will have in standard). So Clone goes out with M14, but in M15 we do have Mercurial Pretender . So he can copy Clever Impersonator as long as it's a creature? i.e. if omniclone becomes say... a walker, then it's not a valid target for Mercurial Pretender ?
Also blue has a lot of bounce options to get recursion effects, like Jace, the Living Guildpact , Jalira, Master Polymorphist (with scry to set up the draw), Quickling , Void Snare ... and that's just looking at M15 options real fast. I could see this in a mono-blue shell quite easily.

slovakattack hm...yeah forgot that it retains the artifact thing. on the other hand this new one is amazing for sideboards in legacy and standard

Assuming it could resolve, it could be a 5$(just a random number) Jace, the Mind Sculptor

I'm thinking BUG walkers. Kiora, Ashiok, Omniclone, and removal.
September 4, 2014 4:04 p.m.
meecht, excellent idea! Now that only works if the Clever Impersonator doesn't become an enchantment, right? I mean if it copies an enchantment then it's no longer a creature?
September 4, 2014 4:05 p.m.
Gonna have to order a foil of that new clone. Its super swick.
Nobody here wants to talk about to sick new fireball? Im not saying its groundbreaking, but pay six mana to deal seven to your opponent seems decent.

VampireArmy: Oh, no question that this card isn't an absolute BEAST. I love it. It just pays to remember the intricacies between the two. Also, SHAMELESS PLUG FOR MY DECK, YEEEEY!
September 4, 2014 4:06 p.m.
too bad this won't overlap with Progenitor Mimic , that would be sick.
September 4, 2014 4:09 p.m.
@ Apoptosis - correct. It becomes whatever it's copying, so if it copies an enchantment it's no longer a creature.
September 4, 2014 4:25 p.m.
The name on this guy makes me laugh.
"Smarter than your average Clone MoFo!"
September 4, 2014 4:46 p.m.
Why hello future staple.
This card is sick, both in effect and art. Gonna be gunning for a couple foil versions.
