C15 is going to be enemy coloured Commanders, with 15 new cards per deck.

A few things I noticed:

It comes with a 'deck storage box'. Part of me wants to think that Wizards finally figured out that you need to make it big enough to hold sleeved cards - but the rational part of me expects it to end up in the recycling bin.

The MSRP specifically says "US Only". They've probably been getting a lot of pushback from Canadian (and Aussie?) retailers. I wonder if they'll release an MSRP for other countries too?

Also worth noting, at least to me: Yay more double-sided tokens!

I'm pretty excited for the Golgari pre con myself.

I'm excited to finally have a decent amount of playable izzet, Simic, and orzhov guys!

Aw, only one foil oversized Commander again. :/

August 3, 2015 7:48 p.m. Edited.

DruzakJakaria says... #7

I started playing in 2013 so I missed the first enemy decks. Looking forward to trying them out. Any guesses as to what some of the major reprints will be? Also I am assuming they mean three color decks right?

August 3, 2015 7:49 p.m.

erabel says... #8

bringerofterror: Enemy color generally means the enemy color pairs. So, white-black, black-green, and so on.

August 3, 2015 7:55 p.m.

GoofyFoot says... #9

bringerofterror your thinking of "wedges". enemy colors are Golgori(green/black), Izzet(red/blue), Orzhov(white/black), Boros(white/red), and Simic(green/blue).

August 3, 2015 7:58 p.m.

NoPantsParade says... #10

I didn't know Simic was enemy colored. I guess I'm even more excited. As for reprints, I wouldn't mind seeing some graveyard cards like Entomb or something in Golgari. I think Biomantic Mastery would be cool depending on the Simic pre con. It doesn't need a reprint, but it's still cool.

August 3, 2015 8 p.m.

DruzakJakaria says... #11

Ok thanks guys. Guess I should have known that. So two-color decks will be cool for a change.

August 3, 2015 8:04 p.m.

Ruffigan says... #12

Hopefully the throw some good mono-red cards into the mix. They had a couple neat ones in the last precon but red can use all the help it can get.

August 3, 2015 8:24 p.m.

GreenGhost says... #13

Well I'll be dissapointed if Skullbriar, the Walking Grave doesn't get a reprint.

elvennoble says... #14

This will be interesting. I have enjoyed these decks as they reintroduce old staples (Sol Ring) and make new ones (True-Name Nemesis). Only 15 new cards per seems disappointing to me, but I don't know what is usual. There are many things I'd like to see. Most prominent is the desire to see either post or pre (doesn't matter) ugin's restoration characters that were prominent in the story but not given cards. The most obvious one being Taigam, though I wouldn't mind seeing Arel, the shaman from temur. I am unaware of any others like this, but there could be more. Another interesting idea would be using some ignored "big" guys. Ones like Gaea, O-Kagachi (plz), and Serra could be cool. Also there is one rare legendary and one reprint legendary per pack (often overlapping) that is/are not the face card(s). Enemy colours have very few legendary creatures, so choice will be slim (fingers crossed for Glissa, the Traitor). It is not too unlikely they will just give us the maze-runners or gods (the very first commander precons had the cycle of wedge-dragons as the reprint/rares, although I don't think there was any alternative). I imagine the green/black deck will either push elves all the way (they can use Nath of the Gilt-Leaf), since origins worked that way, or avoid it completely, for fear of its power. Another speculation I have is that green/blue will have a (at least a minor) +1/+1 or draw-card, as that is all the existing legendary creatures of those colours have. My final speculation is that the green/blue and blue/red will be the worst since I like those colour combinations the best. Hopefully white/black is okay, since I could use it too improve my old Oloro, Ageless Ascetic or Obzedat, Ghost Council decks. Sorry for the long comment, I got on a tangent and rammbled a bit.

Super excited for the Boros and Simic commanders

I'm calling Momir vig as Simic reprint.

Lokotor says... #19

I've been playing around with an Orzhov decklist for a while (still not done) so I'm excited to see what wizards puts out for their version. at the very least it might give me some new cards to look into. :D

JWiley129 says... #20

elvennoble - Except 55 was around the same number of new cards at 15 apiece for the C14 decks as well. It's not a lot, but it ends up being very useful. Especially with appropriate reprints to help the value.

August 4, 2015 12:41 a.m.

asasinater13 says... #21

I don't really care about anything besides "simic commander deck". I'm getting it. Can't wait. Even getting tokens? I really hope we get another ape token, or the token for Rapid Hybridization?

for simic legendary reprint, I'm hoping on momir vig or experiment one. mostly because I have neither and could use them. as long as it's not a Prime Speaker Zegana I'll put it to use.

I wonder if the simic deck will have Prophet of Kruphix in it, or if they'll avoid going to that much of a casual power house.

August 4, 2015 1:24 a.m.

DruzakJakaria says... #22

Kruphix, God of Horizons wouldn't be a bad simic General. And as far as the prophet, I think they will avoid it since they consider these to be 'casual'. We house banned him in my group.

Darthagnon says... #23

I'd kinda like to see a Warrior tribal Commander deck, especially with the recent great Warrior (and other helpful) cards such as Bloodsoaked Champion, Chief of the Edge, Blood-Chin Rager, Battle Brawler, Glaring Aegis, Secure the Wastes, Mardu Hordechief,Mardu Shadowspear, Athreos, God of Passage, Obelisk of Urd, etc.

Perhaps some sort of tribal beatdown, with a bit of reanimation and tokens.

August 4, 2015 10:18 a.m.

asasinater13 Lol, the legendary Simic commander Experiment One... I think you mean Experiment Kraj.

Zuckfat says... #25

Hmmmm..which one gets the cool legacy card this time?

August 4, 2015 11:04 a.m.

Boza says... #26

I would really love to see what they come up for in enemy colors, as they are especially difficult to design:

  • simic - the toughest one of the bunch, really only has card draw and counters so far. I would welcome anything here though, as I am currently building a Zegana Deck. I would foresee some sort of tribal element to the deck (hopefully not elves for millionth time)

  • orzhov - can we get away from taxing effects and Orzhov church in these colors. Lifelink and draining are quite overplayed, something more innovative will be good. Enchantments will be a good focus.

  • golgari - Yet another graveyard-based deck. Not much room for innovation here. Doing ANYTHING else is welcome. I foresee a lot of possibilities here, the best would be a focus on aggro. Some more infect commanders will be great as well.

  • izzet - well, i think we need finally a legendary coin throwing commander and this is the set to do it.

  • Boros - lots of small aggressive dudes. I really hope they go for something more interesting than that. Taxing is great option to explore.

Calling it right now, I want to see how many I got right in a few months.

Boza

With Simic, I wouldn't even be mad if they did a counter-based commander -- If they're digging up characters from recent planes, know who'd fit?

Ludevic, of Ludevic's Test Subject  Flip fame.

Simic colours are all about making big creatures with counters and transforming creatures. Ludevic would be amazing as a counter commander or a token generator in some way, because my idea of a flip commander will never EVER happen.

Either way, I'm betting on a Vorel reprint rather than a Zegana reprint. Momir Vig too.

August 4, 2015 1:27 p.m.

asasinater13 says... #28

If simic gets elf tribal I'll be ecstatic. We need elves with green and blue. But I'd be down for wizard or merfolk. Or more counter tribal

August 4, 2015 8:53 p.m.

CuteSnail says... #29

There's actually an elf Merfolk, asasinater13, check out Gaea's Skyfolk.

August 4, 2015 8:57 p.m.

GreenGhost says... #30

Huh that card is surprisingly good for being that old. Then again there were some wildly varying levels of power back then.

August 4, 2015 9:43 p.m.

CuteSnail says... #31

I really like it.

August 4, 2015 9:49 p.m.

elvennoble says... #32

I'm guessing golgari elves, izzet artifacts and/or prowess, and orzhov enchantments, as that is what was being pushed in origins theme-wise

August 5, 2015 2:11 p.m.

Ruffigan says... #33

So the Wizards site has a press release that mentions Experience Counters. I imagine them acting like Opal Palace, with some kind of benefits other than +1/+1 counters.

August 5, 2015 3:21 p.m.

JWiley129 says... #34

As an aside, I'm almost 99% sure that the character on this pack is the Golgari Commander.

The pack is for the Legendary Cube on MTGO only, so don't worry about it for paper.

stupid resizing issues.....

August 5, 2015 3:29 p.m.

NoPantsParade says... #35

Since there are likely no Zendikar fetches in BFZ, does that mean we could be getting them in Commander 2015?

August 5, 2015 4 p.m.

00xtremeninja says... #36

no way would they print them in Commander product. They've given us some cool stuff before in Commander stuff, but nothing to that degree.

August 5, 2015 4:07 p.m.

@NoPantsParade I'm with you on this, the Zen fetches will be in the commander decks this year. They aren't enemy colored just by accident!

Unless WotC just like screwing with us. xD

August 5, 2015 5:02 p.m.

There is a 0.00000000000001% chance they put fetches in supplemental product. Makes no sense what so ever for Wizards.

August 5, 2015 5:28 p.m.

NoPantsParade says... #39

Yeah, it's unlikely, but it's wishful, pathetic thinking. No harm in that.

August 5, 2015 5:30 p.m.

Balzac says... #40

You think there are any chances on some good equipment reprints, such as Batterskull or Umezawa's Jitte?

August 5, 2015 8:55 p.m.

MagicalHacker says... #41

Depends on if they give us a good boros or orzhov voltron/equipment-themed commander (Boros voltron would have to be harder to remove than Tajic, Blade of the Legion though, as he is a pretty vicious commander as is).

August 5, 2015 9:06 p.m.

asasinater13 says... #42

zendi fetches in commander wouldn't be that out there.

August 5, 2015 10:59 p.m.

GreenGhost says... #43

Seeing as how they printed Wurmcoil Engine recently if we value the zen fetch reprints around the same prices as the khans ones it's not that out of the question.

August 5, 2015 11:46 p.m.

asasinater13 says... #44

I'm not counting on zendifetches being in C15, but I wouldn't be surprised if they were there.

August 6, 2015 12:40 a.m.

Named_Tawyny says... #45

They've put Fetches (granted, Onslaught fetches) in supplemental product before - see the Origins Clash Pack, as an example.

August 6, 2015 1:28 a.m.

elvennoble says... #46

I think fetches are likely. It would be an ideal spot to put them. Enemy colour lands in enemy coloured decks. Plus, it would guarantee it to be sold. Also, it would not be in standard, so we wouldn't have all ten fetches in standard at the same time. The only downside for wizards and the magic community is the prices dropping, which shouldn't matter too much to wizards if it makes them sell more product.

August 6, 2015 12:15 p.m.

elvennoble says... #48

Rasta_Viking29 TL DR, can you summarize for me?

August 6, 2015 12:45 p.m.

Fetches will sell more product printed in the first set of a block and printing them in something like a commander product is not necessary to sell those decks. WotC would not be maximizing the value of one of their greatest assets.

elvennoble says... #50

Yawgmoth? He would be cool as well
