Commander 2019 early hopes and expectations

Commander 2019 is less than 2 months away, so I want to share my own expectations around themes, colors and mechanics and see what other people hope to see in this product.
Personally I'm expecting a few wedge colored decks / / and either or (as a return to the first commander series maybe) and Boros deck, based on the love that color-combination's been getting recently.
Mechanics-wise maybe a spellslinger deck to further promote the revised splice mechanic with kamigawa-spirit theme (might be biased on that one). Maybe a return of experience counters too (I may be biased on that one too).
I don't expect a snow theme nor a colorless one as the basic mana-base alone would skew the value of the deck disproportionately. I'm not seeing mono-colored partner commanders either both flavor and mechanics-wise.
Lastly (given the c18 debacle) I expect my hopes for better reprints to fare against reality about as good as my ninja deck would in a death's shadow match. (It will be better than c18 but nothing compared to c16, maybe halfway between c18 and c17)
But don't let me spin my wheels here, what do you think C19 will be about?

DemonDragonJ - Interesting ideas, but I am not sure how most of those cards/themes would fit into the mechanics of the set. An Ugin creature card could be part of the Morph deck, but I doubt we get one. Not only did we just get a card of Ugin, its abilities already have strong synergies with Morph. Unfortunately most of the other characters and themes you listed don't really mesh well with Morph, Madness, Flashback, or Populate.
However, I have a hunch that the Madness deck will be Mardu and we may finally get a card for the 4th sister from Innistrad. She would have to be in order to complete the cycle and would likely be a secondary commander in the precon. This would also mean that the normally red-black of madness would be pushed into a third color, but from a lore perspective white has always been the third color for unstable characters (think Elesh Norn) so I think it fits. Maro and Gavin have been teasing the 4th sister's inclusion in a set for a while now and I think this could finally be the time we get a card for her.

Actually, the more I think about it, Karona would be an excellent leader of the Madness deck. She is the "mad god" after all. However, I don't think she will be since she is 5 colors and I don't see Madness incorporating green or blue....

Hi_diddly_ho_neighbor, how reliable is that leak of the themes of this year's decks, and was that a deliberate spoiler or an accident?

Madcookie, to what "Commander 2018 debacle" are you referring?
July 29, 2019 10:44 p.m.
@DemonDragonJ The debacle where 1) the decks (esp Esper and Jund) deck were very badly constructed, either spanning too many themes or lacking cards to support the main theme 2) for a few months Sol Ring was in the top 2 most expensive cards (after Yuriko) in the set (atm it is at #6 from entire set and #3 reprints wise) given that the entire price increase was supposedly justified with putting more valuable cards in the precons and 3)barring some of the commander options the 4 decks were majorly disliked by the majority of players which is why all but the Esper one can still be found at my LGS shelf, collecting dust.

DemonDragonJ - It was a leak? Huh I just heard from a friend that some store had posted deck descriptions already and when I saw discussion about the themes on this thread I just assumed it was confirmed. My bad. I'll be honest, I haven't been paying as close attention to MTG related things lately.

Hi_diddly_ho_neighbor, I actually do not know if that information was leaked or deliberately revealed, so you should not regard what I say on that subject as being reliable.

The "leak" was a product listing by a European distributor called Blackfire which, as I understand it, is normally a reputable site. My guess is they posted it early not knowing the information wasn't available to the public. I doubt distributors follow that type of thing too closely.
They also pulled it down pretty quickly. So take it as you want. Could be they were fed false information who knows? We should find out today though at the GenCon presentation around 3pm

Continuing the idea of cards for characters who have not yet had cards, Dyfed is a character who played a significant role in the story but is not a particularly well-known character, so a card of her would be nice.
Also, a new version of Karona would also be awesome, since she was the supreme embodiment of all magic on Dominaria, and the fusion of Phage and Akroma, two very powerful beings in their own right, but her card was very underwhelming.
A card of Ugin before his spark ignited would also be great, since there are very few non-artifact colorless creatures that are not Eldrazi.
There have been decks that have focused on artifacts and decks that focus on enchantments, but never a deck that focuses on both, so that it a logical idea for a future deck.
A faerie deck with Oona as the general would also be awesome, as well.
