CaptainWoosh: Sarkhan's transformation does not trigger ETB. Sprinting Warbrute is a fine Limited card, and I will happily smash face with it in draft. Also, net 3/3 for 2W is perfectly fine as well. What do you want, Brimaz at common?
My thoughts on the mechanics:
I like Megamorph just fine, although the name is a little odd - reminiscent of Multikicker, sounds kind of like "Metamorph". We'll get used to it, though, and it looks like it plays nicely. I figured after Outlast y'all would be more aware of how mechanics can be way better than they look at first blush...
Exploit feels like an attempt at a fixed Devour, except more exciting. Great flavor, we'll see how it plays out. Hard to say what kind of deck wants it.
Yay, Rebound! Everyone loved Rebound, and we knew its return was inevitable. Shame we won't be getting Staggershock, though.
Formidable looks a bit tough on paper, but impossible to evaluate without better context. There are a lot of dragons on the way, after all.
I won't comment on all the other wild speculation, except to say that this set being allied colors means that it is inevitable that we will get our enemy-colored dragons someday, rather than less likely as some of you seem to be saying.

That Formidable mechanic could be interesting. Pure speculation, but we could see things like First Strike, Double Strike, +x+x, Draw cards etc, all possibly on lower cmc(although likely higher rarity) creatures. Granted, by the time it becomes relevant your likely to be in a good enough position to smash face anyway. I'm currently abusing Ferocious and I want this to be good. Thoughts?
March 2, 2015 7:04 p.m.
Personally, i like formidable. It really gives a boost to token decks, etc, as it requires 8 total power, not a creature with 4. It may seem harder to achieve, but a turn 3 anafenza + a turn 4 rhino does the trick easily.

Check out the booster packaging. Doesn't the bottom one look like Jeskai?click this thing
March 2, 2015 7:21 p.m.
The bottom two look like Sarkhan and some other planeswalker. Some people have been speculating Narset as becoming a planeswalker. As someone who rarely looks at lore, I don't know why, but it could be her.
March 2, 2015 7:25 p.m.
It definitely looks like narset. Got the glowy eyes thing as well, symbolizing her spark may have ignited.

BlastercoolWeird says... #8
I'm betting Narset will be UW, if it's Khans Timeline Narset then there's no reason she couldn't ditch using red mana after becoming a planeswalker.
Dragons Timeline Narset being a heretic also doesn't preclude her being U/W, nowhere in the Uncharted Realms article is it made clear she was labeled a heretic for using non-Ojutai magics, it's plausible she found old Jeskai lore and refused to destroy it or something to that effect but still uses white and blue magic because that's what she trained with for years.
As for cards spoiled I will declare that I don't actually hate Megamorph as a mechanic name or a mechanic. It's literally morph+, like what did you want it to be called?
March 2, 2015 7:33 p.m.
Well under the assumption that Narset is going to be a blue planeswalker of some sort (and here's hoping it's a control friendly walker considering her creature card's flavor), i'm gonna start getting together the cards I want for a u/w control list.
March 2, 2015 7:37 p.m.
Named_Tawyny says... #10
shepherdofire I don't think Narset will be w - from the stories we've heard, she was kicked out of the Ojutai brood for being a heretic - that probably means she'll have in her.
March 2, 2015 7:39 p.m.
Narset has been declared heretic for finding and revealing the scrolls Shu Yun wrote and hid. Although I would like a three color Jeskai planeswalker, I suppose being red is not relevant.
Also, there are Atarka, Kolaghan and some random new dragon?
March 2, 2015 7:52 p.m.
Is there any chance, if Narset is a planeswalker, they make her ? I guess if the set is allied color focused that's right out, but... She was exiled by an allied dragon; maybe she's the ugly duckling? Also, isn't Jace moving in the direction? To be clear: I have no real reason to think she'd be I'm just grasping at straws to fuel my hope.

I just want to know what is going to happen with Bolas, new walker or as a creature or both. Reprint or new overhall whats your speculation?
March 2, 2015 8:41 p.m.
ColdHeartedSith says... #14
I hate to say it but because Ugin was printed as pretty much the opposite of Bolas, I had a feeling they will simply reprint Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker. That would be unfortunate in my eyes I want a new one.

Formidable will play just like Ferocious. The difference is Ferocious could be triggered by one card usually and Formidable will take multiples. Let's hope the payoffs are bigger or else it is just worse Ferocious.
I would have prefered something like this:
Formidable - If Atarka Creature is blocked by a creature with a power less than 3 Atarka Creature gets +2/+2 and Trample.
It's simple and flavorful while addressing the chump block and token problem for decks that lack interaction.

Yeah, Narset clearly looks . Those eyes. No Boros here. Lore-wise, she got the forbidden Shu Yun scrolls and pissed off Ojutai, got almost killed, sparked. (the last half of that sentence was pure speculation)
But she's Azorius, clearly. Maaaaaaaaybe they'll throw in there, but I kind of doubt it. Wouldn't be our first 3-color walker, but I still doubt it.
March 2, 2015 8:52 p.m.
FAMOUSWATERMELON says... #17
So do I, though I hope that she has all the Jeskai colors. As if she's not OP enough as it...
March 2, 2015 8:54 p.m.
JakeHarlow says... #18
Okay, here comes a totally undue amount of speculation.
Shu Yun concealed scrolls from Ojutai, and the dragon executed all of the monks who had access to ghostfire, which seems to be a thing. The Jeskai lost the red part of their heritage, excised from history by Ojutai's ruthless campaign of proscription. Perhaps Narset found the scrolls and learned from them, reclaiming the Jeskai's ancient red magics. This made her a heretic in the eyes of her dragon-subjugated brethren, and thus we have a planeswalker, a sole heir to the true Jeskai way hidden by its final Khan 1,280 years ago?
End speculation.

I know this is kind of a weird angle to approach it from, but I think Narset would be U/R because of the color pallet used in her art. All of those warm gold and brown colors combined with the small hints of red-ish color attached to those streamers coming off her chest-piece seems to indicate U/R. If she was U/W I would expect some of the details like her tan sleeves to be a bit more bright white. Also, is there a source about the Shu Yun scrolls that she stole? I didn't quite get that memo from last weeks uncharted realms.
As for the allied colored dragons I'm a little bummed about the no enemy dragons, but Rosewater and the creative team's primary focus has been the draft/limited play from the beginning. In addition, Dragons of Tarkir design had already started before Fate Reforged. Quote Mark Rosewater in his article, "Whims of Fate Reforged, part 2", "Be aware that before the Fate Reforged design team met for the first time, the Dragons of Tarkir design team was already up and running. Large sets get a full year of design while small sets get four months. This meant that Fate Reforged had a peek into both large sets (which, by the way, was fundamental to its design). "
So in all likelyhood, the allied factions were set before FRF design started and the dragonlords were created.

Don't know if it's talked about yet, but there's a 4 cmc dragonThunderbreak Regent2RRCreature - DragonFlying
Whenever a dragon you control becomes the target of a spell or ability your opponent controls, Thunderbreak Regent deals 3 damage to that player.
Thunderbreak RegentI could see RG dragons being a thing

I'm not even 100% certain that the dragon there is Ojutai, it just looks so much different.

All the five dragons from Fate have survived into the Dragons of Tarkir timeline and are now Elder Dragons. They have some new visual design changes to them to reflect that passage of time and their growth in power. Silumgar's fangs have grown, for example. Kolaghan has a "hood" and more horns. Etc, etc.
March 2, 2015 10:54 p.m.
I was about to tag you Rasta_Viking29. This seems right up your alley.

Radiant Purge

Instant
Exile target multicolored creature or multicolored enchantment. The Shifting Wastes are Dromoka's domain. She will not tolerate intruders.
Hmm not too bad, could be worse, could be better
March 3, 2015 1:06 a.m.
the new dragon haste card also works pretty well with ash cloud phoenix that plus the new dragon is pretty nast you can have lots of 4 damage haste action
March 3, 2015 1:11 a.m.
This... is suspect. Yes its a two mana instant exile effect. That is freaking awesome. Yet what does it really hit? Ascendencies, siege rhino, mantis rider... I mean, yea there are some more targets but not many that are hugely relevant. At least not yet. I think this is gonna be around 3-4 dollars a card and will probably do down. It's not bad, and white needed another two mana removal spell. But this is sideboard material.
If the set after Khans is a multicolor set as well, this will be awesome. Might be worth picking up a playset and holding onto em.

My Savra, Queen of the Golgari EDH deck demands the new Sidisi. Like seriously, for five mana, I get a 4/6 deathtouch, get to tutor myself a card, and get to feed a sacrifice into my "f*** you" engine. It's glorious.
March 3, 2015 1:21 a.m.
I hear you there FinchFalcon. As if my deck needed more ways to make my enemies cry.

kyuuri117: they intentionally put hosers at the end of a block should something escape their playtesting and become uber broken. like printing Back to Nature after the enchantment-based Theros block

Tempest + Thunderbreak Regent = Somehwat Stormbreathish.
I wouldn't even outrule a Stormbreath Dragon-Repring. He's Red, he's fitting the Mardu-Drgaons-That-Spit-Electricity-Theme and also make Sense given that the Mardu-Clan dropped White and he's got protection from white.
I'll playtest Dragon Tempest + Thunderbreak Regent + Stormbreath Dragon this week for sure. Time for some Green Non-Common Spoilers, please!

By the way, why do I have the feeling that the new Sarkhan's Ultimate will have a bunch of Dragons entering the Battlefield to ETB-Trigger Tempest so often that the Opponent basically is dead?
March 3, 2015 3:42 a.m.
that Sarkhan would be pretty cool im wondering what under the radar flying cards will be good with dragon tempest ive said it a couple times now but i can already see ashcloud pheonix being good with it

I'm just gonna go ahead and try and break standard here: Let's assume we get a good, low cost rebound card, and cast ourselves a Howl of the Horde(Raid triggered) and copy the rebound card twice. So, upon resolving, all three copies of the rebound card do their thing and then get exiled. Next turn you then have those three 'rebound' for crazy value. Did I get that right or is it too good to be true? If this breaks standard remember, you heard it here first folks.
March 3, 2015 4:58 a.m.
i dont think it would be broken since rebound cards seem to cost alot so assuming you got a good red one it might cost close to 10 mana
March 3, 2015 5:09 a.m.
AussieBloke says... #46
Very first part of my explanation was "assuming we get a good low cost rebound card." I was mainly checking if a copied/extra rebound spell gets exiled, or is it just the original.
March 3, 2015 5:37 a.m.
RussischerZar says... #47
@ AussieBloke: That doesn't work as you can only cast a card exiled with rebound, which means the copies can't be rebounded (is that a word?).

Thunderbreak Regent looks pretty legit. Great in limited, quite reasonable in standard, possibly playable in modern.
March 3, 2015 6:01 a.m.
Well, what can I say, it seems that although each colour will get its dragons, there's more love for red ones. It's just logical. So, Atarka or Kolaghan are going to be better dragon tribal decks.
It seems that we are getting a rare "regent" cycle. We have the uncommon one from FRF. Common cycle, please? Also, is the first spoiler, the black "dragonlord" a "regent"? It is always a mess with japanese trads...

Whip of Erebos Recover the creature you had to sacrifice
Rescue from the Underworld The same, but you can even trigger Exploit again
Mardu Strike Leader Free sac fuel
Dont you think?
