Ah. That may be added tomorrow. It depends on WotC.

Summon the Ancestors
Instant
Return each creature card with converted mana cost X or less from your graveyard to the battlefield. Exile those creatures at the beginning of your next upkeep. Exile Summon the Ancestors.
Mogis's Marauder likes this new card, at = +
Hammer of Purphoros thinks it's okay as well.
Otherwise, it'a a defensive strategy and those creatures can never attack.
I suppose, since it doesn't have the same restriction as Whip of Erebos, you could bounce/flicker them to keep them permanently.
Outside of Standard, you could use something like Sundial of the Infinite as well.

A lot of damage with Purphoros, God of the Forge? I'm thinking this might find a place in my Roon of the Hidden Realm-deck.
Price speculations?
January 8, 2015 8:24 a.m.
Brago, King Eternal just says, "I'll just be keeping those!"
January 8, 2015 8:29 a.m.
Aslo good with...
Sac outlet(s)
Constellation triggers with Enchantment triggers
ETB effects
LTB effects
"At the beginning of your upkeep" effects on those creatures (since they will still trigger)
For the most part, it's a very "build around me" card... but not a horrible one.
January 8, 2015 8:33 a.m.
oh... even bringing back creatures with a : ability will allow you to get one use out of them before exiling them.
January 8, 2015 8:35 a.m.
RedSarrior says... #9
Rayenous they will have summoning sickness and won't be able to tap unless they have haste.
January 8, 2015 8:36 a.m.
Woah. This is awesome. Decent in aggro. Some defensive uses. Probably won't see any modern play, but pretty great.
January 8, 2015 8:50 a.m.
If it said 'whenever another creature enters the battlefield under your control' instead of 'whenever another warrior enters the battlefield under your control' it would be like.... properly good.
January 8, 2015 8:53 a.m.
They won't need haste to be able to before you exile them.
During your upkeep, while the delayed trigger to exile them is still on the stack, you can them.
January 8, 2015 9:27 a.m.
Mardu Charm and Take Up Arms have suddenly become Instant speed responses to Whip of Erebos activations!
January 8, 2015 9:30 a.m.
I might just need more coffee but you lost me Rayenous. Lol
January 8, 2015 9:46 a.m.
Bellock86 - The card I linked above allows you to exile creatures from graveyard whenever a warrior enters the battlefield. Mardu charm and take up arms produce warrior tokens at instant speed. With the card I linked above they are instant speed responses to whip.

Sorta not impressed but then again, He's an uncommon so meh.
January 8, 2015 10:24 a.m.
Not impressed either. I do wonder what this Vial of Dragonfire card is though.
January 8, 2015 10:28 a.m.
Apparently, we may not see the "Vial of Dragon Fire" until Dragons of Tarkir.
I would assume it's on-par with Heart-Piercer Bow in power level (or lack thereof).

I'm mildly impressed if only because he could go into a Blue Artifact deck in Commander. But, then again you always have better options I suppose.

Thoughts on Frost Walker as a 2-drop in Temur because he triggers ferocious so early?
January 8, 2015 10:54 a.m.
alexthegreat38: I don't like it. What do you really need Ferocious for that early anyway? And is it really worth playing something as fragile as this on turn 2 over a mana dork or Heir of the Wilds in order to get it? I very much doubt it.
About these Dash cards now... I get why the mechanic could be cool. Things like Goblin Heelcutter that come out early if you've got nothing better to do with your mana. But this Mardu Scout and Kolaghan, the Storm's Fury? They cost the same. Mardu Shadowspear and Mardu Strike Leader? They cost MORE! And since their triggers are on attack and not ETB, its not like you're gaining anything out of it. What is the advantage here that I'm not seeing?
January 8, 2015 11:18 a.m.
7 drop is a bit steep. Could be a finisher for control, but unsure. Meh. Don't see it being fantastic.
I just remembered the time when people argued with me for calling Empty the Pits shit. Look how much it's played!
January 8, 2015 11:23 a.m.
alexthegreat38 says... #28
Obake: The benefit is haste, so that you can just get in damage quickly. They don't have haste if you don't cast them for dash.
January 8, 2015 11:26 a.m.
I don't know how "control-finisher" it will really be. Not that many critters can be found in a control decks graveyard. Besides, it is sorcery-speed. At least Empty the Pits can avoid Drown in Sorrow for a turn AND doesn't require creatures in the yard to be good.
January 8, 2015 11:27 a.m.
'Target player'. Doesn't have to be your own graveyard. Still don't like it though.
January 8, 2015 11:29 a.m.
Ohthenoises says... #31
ChiefBell this black mythic seems like it would be a really good piece of grave hate in devotion decks because it also allows you to recover for 7 mana if you target yourself.
Pretty niche though. Like only viable with certain decks.
January 8, 2015 11:30 a.m.
Dash gains you evasion and haste, two very good things. So you have creatures that prioritize attack power of defense, in exchange, they have inherent protection from sorcery speed removal. Since things like control can easily use board wipes to halt aggro, this gives aggro a way around constant board wipes I suppose.

Oh, the fact that it says "creature" cards for Ghastly Conscription makes it pretty bad for the cost. I thought it said all cards, in which case it would be SICK for control. Ah well, glad I don't have to play against that.
Might be sideboard-able in control vs. creature-heavy decks?
January 8, 2015 11:30 a.m.
Use Ghastly Conscription on your opponent's graveyard right before killing off your Underworld Cerberus?
It is interesting that this is the first card the Manifests from somewhere other than the top of your Library.
It's also the first one that lets a player Manifest another players cards.
January 8, 2015 11:32 a.m.
Mardu Scout... devotion... and a creature that enters the battlefield over and over. - Should play well with Purphoros, God of the Forge
January 8, 2015 11:37 a.m.
I like the idea of frost walker in a tempo based temur deck. He makes Icy Blast a really good card and turning on Stubborn Denial so early against some decks is just backbreaking.
Temur has a lot of hard hitting cheap creatures too. Savage Knuckleblade, Yasova Dragonclaw, and Boon Satyr all come to mind. Polukranos, World Eater makes for a powerful finisher and Crater's Claws help you win after your opponent turns the corner.
Frost walker trades with anything that isnt a siege rhino but you can get temur charm online by then. Having your 2 drop tank any removal means your knuckleblades, satyrs, polukranos and yasovas will live longer, more fruitful lives.
Against token strategies you'll leave frost walker on the defence. Your opponents wont want to trade their rabbles or monastery mentors for your 2 drop. Maindeck arc lightning could be a thing too.
TL:DR I think Frost Walker is good.
January 8, 2015 11:42 a.m.
I think Frost Walker will definitely see play, especially with the great new Ferocious cards coming out, and it combos well with existing Ferocious cards. Triggering Heir of the Wilds really early is a good bonus, and having an Elvish Mystic slaughter a Mentor or a Rabble with Savage Punch sounds hilarious.
It also depends on whether your opponents think it's worth buffing your guy for the sake of killing him, or using his Wild Slash on it instead of, say, your own Rabble.
January 8, 2015 11:48 a.m.
Rayenous is talking about EXACTLY why I love Mardu Scout. I am super excited to sleeve him up in either RDW or a potential Red Devotion deck because I can't quit you Purphoros, God of the Forge.
January 8, 2015 11:51 a.m.
That Ghastly Conscription is a pretty sweet card right there. One that I have no intention of playing. At 7 mana it should be giving me all the creatures without this manifest nonsense. I'd pay 5 mana for this easily, and would at least consider it at 6.
Dash again - yeah, I guess haste is a thing. Sort of. It's probably better than I think it is, but I don't value haste very highly. Nowhere near as highly as this mechanic is asking.
Take the Mardu Shadowspear as an example. I would pay the for this card. It generally isn't as good as an actual 2/1, but its close enough. Now looking at it as if I could only pay the dash cost. Its basically a 2/1 with haste for , and an upkeep of . I would never, ever, EVER play a card like that. And that's exactly what most of these Dash cards ask.
I can see the "avoid board-wipes and other sorcery-speed removal" arguments. I still don't like it, but I suppose it is better than sitting on your thumbs playing around End Hostilities.

Woe Reaper is pretty cool, would sideboard him in a warrior deck. Mardu Scout is cool as well.

shinobigarth I misread what you set for a second and I thought you said "Wee Reaper".
January 8, 2015 2:27 p.m.
The littlest reaper is from an entirely different universe. But just as adorable/creepy
January 8, 2015 2:45 p.m.
I suspect the Dash mechanic was mostly to help midrange decks compete with control more effectively instead of just playing between board wipes. Without haste, you can't put lethal on the board because they will most likely board wipe, so having creatures with haste AND protection from sorcery speed actions, it pretty much guarantees that every turn you will have something to cast. It also forces a choice onto the control player, do I use my instant speed removal to kill his threat that is swinging at me, or do I use it to kill that Dash creature who is gonna dodge the board wipe I plan on playing next turn. Using it on the dash creature means the opponent will get through with his big attacker in this example, but the bigger thing with die to the board wipe, whereas killing the big thing makes the remaining dash creature much harder to kill without using another instant.
To my knowledge though(correct me if I'm wrong), control isn't really that prevalent at the moment. Perhaps this set or the next will give a big boost to control that requires evasive creatures to counter.
