Anafenza becomes a turn 3 7/6 who hoses all opponent reanimation.
January 8, 2015 9:33 p.m.
Yasova becomes a 7/4 that can steal creatures with power 6 or less. Yayyyy! Also, Zurgo becomes a 10/4, making him a lot harder to kill.

Man that blade isn't too shabby. I just might put it in my Jund deck as having it on Yasova is amazing and I have Zurgo in there for kicks. Seems fun to play around with if you got legendaries.
January 8, 2015 10:01 p.m.
My Kemba, Kha Regent and Lazav, Dimir Mastermind EDH decks just got a new toy to play with. Lol

I like the Sabertooth, but I can't quite seem to find a good shell for it. Not that I've tried all that hard though
January 9, 2015 12:36 a.m.
Daxos of Meletis is going to love the Hero's Blade...
T2 Blade, T3 Daxos... now you have a 5/4 that can't be blocked by things that can kill it.
...and if it gets through, you have huge card advantage.
Still in range of Stoke the Flames, but that's about it.
January 9, 2015 9:39 a.m.
Jeskai legends? Daxos, Narset, Brimaz, Alesha, Avacyn, Anax and Cymede, Medomai, gods, maybe Ojutai since we're already playing pretty casual here? Although you could just as easily only run the cheaper ones there with maybe a single of Narset.

@xcn
I had a similar thought with Alesha, but changed it to Mardu.
Tymaret, the Murder King can sac creatures for damage, then Alesha brings them back swinging... using King Macar, the Gold-Cursed he becomes a 5/5 that's attacking, and during your upkeep you exile a creature and Ramp a little.
Then there's Daghatar the Adamant who can move all 4 counter and get brought back as a 7/6.
And Zurgo Helmsmasher makes a 5-drop 10/4 indestructible attacking.

Ainok Guide
Creature - Hound Scout
When Ainok Guide enters the battlefield, choose one
Put a +1/+1 counter on Ainok Guide.
Search your library for a basic land card, reveal it, then shuffle your library and put that card on top of it.
1/1

Mardu Strike Leader will be great for mardu tokens, I'm definitely using it in my deck

Collateral Damage
Instant
As an additional cost to cast Collateral Damage, sacrifice a creature.
Collateral Damage deals 3 damage to target creature or player.

Surprised to see this spell getting a reprint.

Full spoilers are up now on the WotC website. Red got some great support, I'm definitely going to play Temur or Mardu in draft. Either way, great set as far as I can see
January 9, 2015 12:28 p.m.
Hey Fleshbag Marauder, nice to see you again.
Also, I'm curious to see if these two Red creatures make it in the RDW or Boss Slight type decks in Standard.
January 9, 2015 12:34 p.m.
What I like about Vaultbreaker...
Got stuck on 3 land...? No problem... cast, attack, dig.
January 9, 2015 12:37 p.m.
There are some boardstates where Vaultbreaker is "Deal 4 damage to target player. Discard a card, then draw a card." And I like that.
January 9, 2015 12:40 p.m.
Rasta_Viking29 - I think you mean "this card could be sweet...for Nekusar, the Mind Razer".
January 9, 2015 12:41 p.m.
It could also be sweet with Waste Not
T2 Waste Not into T3 "Dark Deal'' will usual get you 1-2 2/2's, equal or more cards in hand than you started with, and a few mana to cast them with.
January 9, 2015 12:45 p.m.
...If they had 2 land in hand, it's quite possible to get T3 "Dark Deal".... into another "Dark Deal"
January 9, 2015 12:46 p.m.
Im confused. Isnt smoldering efreet just a really bad runeclaw bear?
January 9, 2015 12:48 p.m.
chrizzil - You misunderstand. Red doesn't get 2/2's for 2 without a drawback, but that 2nd toughness is very important. That means the difference between trading with a Satyr Wayfinder and eating one. Is it worse than Runeclaw Bear? yeah, but for Red it's better than the average.
January 9, 2015 12:57 p.m.
I hereby dub him "Burnclaw Bear".
... Bad! Bad Burnclaw!
January 9, 2015 12:57 p.m.
I think I would rather play Valley Dasher or the new 2 mana 3/1. Attacking into Sylvan Caryatid is very important.
January 9, 2015 12:59 p.m.
tooTimid - I'd prefer the Efreet over Valley Dasher, and Mardu Scout is obviously an auto-include. As you said, attacking into Sylvan Caryatid is something Red decks haven't been great at recently.

Who else thinks sage's reverie is an auto 4 of in U/W heroic?

I'm loving Mob Rule seems like it could be an epic finisher.
January 9, 2015 1:02 p.m.
MurderHood - I think it's too expensive at to see serious play. Ethereal Armor saw play because it's , 4 mana is just WAAY too much for that deck.
January 9, 2015 1:04 p.m.
It's a Sell-Sword Brute!
Here are some other 2/2's for comparison.
Ruby Leech - Ummm...
Goblin Raider - Not planning on Blocking anyway.
Ironclaw Orcs - Again, not blocking... attacking...
Mad Dog - Do I really have to repeat myself again?
Goblin Furrier - Snow Creatures... really? ... ATTACK!
Goblin Firebug - Sac a land...? sounds bad, but RDW often has more land than it can use anyway.
Goblin Elite Infantry - May as well have a 2/1.
Goblin Brigand - See # 2, 3, and 4.
January 9, 2015 1:06 p.m.
Thanks for the clarification JWiley, I'm fairly new. I personally love Valley Dasher in draft. He'll often get in 4 damage pretty easily or 2 and trade with a morph. If you're on the play sometimes 6.
Cloudform seems insane in blue devotion. Hexproof AND flying, wow.
January 9, 2015 1:07 p.m.
3CMC, 2/2 Flying, Hexproof... that could become bigger!
January 9, 2015 1:09 p.m.
beakedbard says... #48
Why is Rakshasa's Disdain 3cmc? That's kinda annoying it could be great if it were 2 cmc but currently there's a lot of 3cmc counterspells that don't have drawbacks....i suppose its at least more splashable than the others.
January 9, 2015 1:16 p.m.
I was just looking at the Disdain...
The card's concept seems to play against Delve.
I can just imagine someone exiling their entire GY to a Treasure Cruise and drawing 2-3 of these.
January 9, 2015 1:23 p.m.
Yep. It's an early-game grave filler for graveyard mechanics, and a powerful late-game boost.
Only drawback is the need to have a creature in play... if you didn't have a one-drop creature, this is horrible to have on T2.

GoldGhost012, you're right, it does.
