DAMMIT.
Stinkwing and Inventor are two separate cards.

@Sauron_ I believe that is the dragon brood watermark and there will be 1 for each dragon (so 5)
December 29, 2014 11:44 a.m.
I'd be willing to bet that there's a card that lets you tutor up a creature and manifest it.

@golffore297 You actually can turn a manifested morph card face-up for its morph cost. See the image below:

YES, I AM building Grixis control with a dragon sub theme!
December 29, 2014 12:30 p.m.
exile Chromanticore to pay for soulflayer = janky fun.

Anyone else think it will be tough to keep track of which cards can be turned face up for zero if your trying to abuse Manifest with cards that have effects when they're turned face up?

Shaman Revelation: 3gg - sorcery. Draw a card for each creature you control. Ferocious: gain 4 life for each creature you control with power 4 or greater. seems pretty sweet. I hope blue gets some more help, though

I'm really liking Dash - it feels like a repeatable evoke, plus it's great at triggering Raid for your KTK Mardu cards.
Manifest makes me want to make a Phyrexian Dreadnought deck; cause what we really need is another way to avoid its ETB ability. ;)
And I believe the new watermarks are for the five dragon broods - the head dragon will have them, but so will any other aligned dragons - lots of foreshadowing that in DTK we'll just be seeing the five broods ruling the roost, so to speak.

Shaman Revelation. A card that is actually legitimately 'strictly better' than another card (and not just 'often better').
C14 pre-con Green players, you may now remove Collective Unconscious from your deck.

Whisperwood elemental is the green answer to boardwipes. Oh you want to boardwipes? Okay I'll sac this elemental and manifest my deck

Kolaghan, the Storm's Fury seems solid, can see him/her ending games quick.
Whisperingwood Elemental = card advantage + a threat, should see play

This just in from Matt Tabak:
"named-tawny asked:
Hi Matt! Really enjoyed your article today. I have a question about Manifest (which I think is awesome, btw), if I may? If you manifest a creature with Morph, are you allowed to flip it for it's morph cost, or does the Manifest rule (that you flip it for its casting cost) over-ride that? Thanks!
answer:You can turn it face up for its morph cost or its mana cost (assuming its a creature card)."
Lots of other neat interactions (DFCs, etc...) on his tumblr too.

SoulFlayer + Buried Alive for Chromanticore Inkwell Leviathan and Sphinx of the Steel Wind can be a turn 3 or 4 game ended in modern.
Or WOTC can just make an Entomb/Buried Alive reprint in Fate and Sultai Whip will become the MBD of last year.
December 29, 2014 1:21 p.m.
And Doug Beyer just confirmed that Kolaghan is, in fact, a she-dragon.

buried alive is not modern legal. also Liliana of the Veil is a card soooo... and also it wouldn't get the shroud so any removal spell also works

I just noticed how well Outpost Siege works with Dash. Pretty.
December 29, 2014 1:40 p.m.
Oh my god Shaman Revelation. It's green Sphinx's Revelation. I think....I think I'm dreaming....
December 29, 2014 2:08 p.m.
The card has existed in various forms for a long time. Regal Force is one example. Collective Unconscious is another. This version is just better. In standard it's going to be a monster. Am I correct in thinking it's in with Hornet Queen?

On a limited note, gurmag angler seems really strong

So are only the ally-colored dragons in FRF? Or has that not been announced?
December 29, 2014 2:20 p.m.
Named_Tawyny says... #31
As legendaries, yes. There will be other dragons though.
December 29, 2014 2:27 p.m.
ChiefBell: Right? I can't wait to play this alongside Hornet Queen. I'm thinking like 10-12 dorks into knucks, poluk, stormbreath (the typical) and ten maybe a one-of or two-of queen....
Perhaps I'll utlize it in my GW mid deck. I was going to splash blue in it for cruise but now I don't need to :O

I like Hooded Assassin for Limited. Felhide Minotaur got a nice upgrade.

@Named_Tawyny: I don't think Shaman is strictly better than Collective Unconscious, because Rain of Gore and False Cure. Pretty much strict however, and probably really awesome in EDH especially

Well, today's the day! Look at all those nifty cards! I think Jeskai Sage is gonna find its way into my Jeskai deck for sure.
Dat Soulflayer though... Wow.
December 29, 2014 2:58 p.m.
I suspect this set could be very favorable to my Vintage Sneak Attack/ Dragons deck. =)
December 29, 2014 3:12 p.m.
From that list of cards that are mechanically intact with different names, here's what I hope Rewind Existence is:
(CARDNAME)
Instant
Put target creature on top of its owner's library, then that creature's controller manifests the top card of his or her library.
December 29, 2014 3:27 p.m.
I like the Sage-Eye Avengers since their trigger can be used as a bluff. I target your Necropolis Fiend, cast an instant, get bounced!
December 29, 2014 3:43 p.m.
Femme_Fatale says... #42
Holy hell boys, 17 cards spoiled! I'll get right on ALL of them ASAP!
December 29, 2014 3:47 p.m.
Sage-Eye Avenger could be great in limited, but I doubt it will see constructed play.
December 29, 2014 3:56 p.m.
So who else is excited for the possibly of Manifest-ing cards from your hand? By how the Keyword is worded and by the Mechanics article on wizards, this should be possible.
Also, I have been thinking about dash. If we can get some very cheap Dash costed creatures, I think you could make a deck around Dash and Purphoros, God of the Forge and other powerful enter the battlefield effects.
December 29, 2014 5:59 p.m.
shinobigarth says... #45
Wodar oh I'm sure there will be Purphoros dash decks, seems very obvious.
Manifesting from your hand seems like it would then make the morph cards almost pointless and not special anymore.
December 29, 2014 6:10 p.m.
Fine, what about Manifesting a card on top of your Opponents deck! Or even better, searching for a card in your opponents deck and Manifesting that card!
December 29, 2014 6:15 p.m.
I'm absolutely loving this set so far.
Soulflayer is gonna be so much fun to play with. Sultai self-mill with Chromanticore? :)
December 29, 2014 6:25 p.m.
Rasta_Viking29 says... #49
So I've noticed Soulflayer is quite popular when checking out pre-sales. SCG's initial price of $1 saw all 40 available copies sell in about 30 mins. Checking eBay it looks like they are going to be around $5 a pop.
I don't get the infatuation here. I see a slightly better Hooting Mandrills if built around in Standard.
December 29, 2014 6:26 p.m.
In all seriousness, I would actually love to see a card that read
"Manifest target card in your graveyard"
nighthawk101 says... #1
Dammit.
Snicker-Snack; StinkwingInventor; Less Options; Improvised Grenade; Rewind Existence; Sultai Reassembler; Phantom Lancer; Slow-Roasted Meal; Protective Trench; Picked for the Team; Hire an Underling; Fused Firecracker; Steal Stats; Recruit Two Ducklings; Recruit a Boss; Acidic Dragon; Sword in the Stone; Knowledge or Ignorance; Jeskai Spellbender
Also, Manifest was originally called Recruit, so that's probably what the Recruit cards do.
