Shards again? No, thank you. Some of the clans I can still have fun with, whereas the shards have never really done much for me, aside from maybe Grixis.

Well that's your problem then, you got too much blue in your Jund :p
December 31, 2014 9:24 p.m.
I've got so much love for moonform please internets add it to database.

New card spoiled by mtg Japan!
No name yet but it's a Creature for and it's a 4/2 with
Haste
Whenever a creature you control deals combat damage to a player, put a +1/+1 counter on it
Ferocious - : Draw a card for each creature with power 4 or greater you control.
Seems sweet to me!

passes Rasta_Viking29 a towel
Yeeeeeaaaaaaaaaah, he seems pretty good. Does Temur Midrange get any better with this guy?
December 31, 2014 10:55 p.m.
Also, right now the unofficial name of this guy is "Shaman of the Great Hunt". But that is liable to be corrected by the time it hits the card image gallery.

Holy shit that guy is good.
Also, looks like him and Soulfire Grand Master are part of a cycle.

Rasta_Viking29 says... #12
Fits perfectly in a deck like this
Kind of fills the role of Chandra, Pyromaster but applies more pressure and triggers Ferocious. Temur is getting some great mana sinks on aggressive bodies.
December 31, 2014 11:18 p.m.
Just how poor is the two toughness? Can someone please prove to me that that doesnt make it a poor choice right now?

AlaskanKomodo says... #14
Sandsteppe Mastodon is going to be a pain to deal with and a blast to play with if its owner has Frontier Siege out. Talk about a double-edged sword.

Femme_Fatale says... #15
It makes it a poor choice. A shit ass poor choice. I mean come on, even Magma Spray kills him. You can't even swing with him because all of mardu's one drops have 2 power.
He might be good to surprise attack with all of your deathtouch insects from hornet queen or hornet nest, maybe even a powerhouse in mardu tokens with Iroas, God of Victory and all those protection/indestructible instants white has, but still.
December 31, 2014 11:22 p.m.
Spootyone - The 2 toughness is an issue, but look at it this way. He attacks into Sylvan Caryatid and most likely forces a trade with Courser of Kruphix so he can't stick around longer. Sure he dies to removal, but there is a lot of the creatures in Standard that he can just attack into freely. At least, creatures not named Siege Rhino.
December 31, 2014 11:23 p.m.
Rasta_Viking29 says... #17
Yeah it's an issue, but you can always wait a turn to grow him before swinging. Not optimal but an option.
December 31, 2014 11:35 p.m.
shinobigarth says... #18
He'll see some play but he's got a big Removal magnet attached to him.
December 31, 2014 11:44 p.m.
New mythic spoiled by SCG, and I heard you like Prowess
Seems good, not sure about Standard, but holy balls.
January 1, 2015 12:05 a.m.
So they made Young Pyromancer an extra mana and mythic rare, then tacked on a fancy keyword. Seems legit.
January 1, 2015 12:11 a.m.
Seems sick but not sure if extra mana for tokens with prowess is worth it in delver to played over Young Pyromancer. It's fucking INSANE in Jeskai ascendancy.
January 1, 2015 12:12 a.m.
Programmer_112 says... #23
I think that Delver becomes UWR, a little more midrangey, and this becomes instantly the best dude in the deck
January 1, 2015 12:12 a.m.
Here's the article where Patrick Chapin talks about the Mentor. And he's hit on much of what we've already said, plus a little more. I'm not considering him in my B/W control deck...

nighthawk101 says... #25
And I was getting excited about Sorceror of the Hunt...
So a token maker that makes worse Monastery Swiftspears versus simple 1/1s, with a buff abilit itself. Fantastic.
January 1, 2015 12:40 a.m.
2U
Legendary Creature - Human Monk
Prowess (Whenever you cast a noncreature spell, this creature gets +1/+1 until end of turn.)
Whenever you cast a noncreature spell, you may pay . If you do, target creature gains double strike until end of turn.
3/2

I guess that the question is which people like more: Soulfire Grand Master or monastery mentor. Both are mythic, white, cheap mana costs, fun abilities. If somebody pulls either of them in a jeskai burn heavy deck in draft... Looking at the spoilers so far, white looks brutal in draft!
I hope that i'm not repeating others
January 1, 2015 12:57 a.m.
Here's the new(old?) Jeskai Khan that -x-Juuzou-x-x- talked about. Boy is your name hard to link.
January 1, 2015 1:06 a.m.
ItchiUchiha117 says... #32
Well, the Jeskai appear to be simply vomiting pure value all over this set. Come on, no whammies, good dragon.
January 1, 2015 1:09 a.m.
miracleHat says... #33
Damn! I can't think of a home for this outside of standard, but that is a nifty, gnarly, and brutal ability. I was reading that and belched with a little vomit. I don't think that the vile would be there if I didn't read that card.
January 1, 2015 1:10 a.m.
JWiley129 haha, sorry. Thanks for getting the image up.

CommanderOfBolas says... #35
My God, Jeskai is getting some damn good stuff
January 1, 2015 1:15 a.m.
So if white got 2 mythical does that mean the other colors will get 2 as well?
January 1, 2015 1:59 a.m.
dan8080 - Usually in small sets each color gets 2 mythics each. With Ugin, the Spirit Dragon one color will only get 1 mythic but that's the general pattern.
January 1, 2015 2:06 a.m.
shinobigarth says... #39
It's gonna be fun stealing and saccing Jeskai's stuff with my Jund Treason deck.
January 1, 2015 2:07 a.m.
Most likely not.
I think small sets have 10 mythics, so it could work if each clan got 2, but we have Ugin, the Spirit Dragon.

Temur needs another way to ramp. I'm crossing my fingers for something in Fate.
January 1, 2015 2:12 a.m.
Holy mythics batman! The Orc is going to be amazing in Animar, Soul of Elements edh!

miracleHat, that's always been called "vurping" in my experience.

Silgumar, Dragon Usurper
Drokoma, the Eternal
I'm making 5-color dragon midrange. The Boy Who Drew Monsters -- Dragon Midrange
January 1, 2015 8:43 a.m.
Im sure this has been covered, but manifest has made Trail of Mystery, Master of Pearls, and Hooded Hydra WAY better. could be a fun Abzan deck when we know what other cards have manifest

nighthawk101 says... #48
Hell yeah.
Daghatar the Adamant doesn't look bad either.

You just need to put (000) within the brackets. So [ [ Disdainful Stroke (000) ] ] yields Disdainful Stroke.
