Crater's Claws is okay, I guess. Sage of the Inward Eye is pretty strong, especially in Limited.

OOoooHHHhhh, the chosen of the claw. This card interests me in a Gruul set-up. A 4 power creature is easy early with Polukranos

Meh to all those and even more meh to their artwork.
This set has been rather blah, I guess if they didn't add the fetches for modern players it wouldn't sell.

I beg to differ, this set has a lot of flavor for casual play (you and each of your friends pick a clan to play as against each other.) In addition to that, this set with the tri-color theme is great for commander as it adds more options for wedge tricolor that weren't previously available. Many powerful cards have also been added like the new clone and temur ascendancy. I know I can already feel my wallet aching from a standard player standpoint as I already plan on purchasing a box and attending several prerelease events. Even after that, there will look kely be cards I will not open and will need to acquire to construct a new deck. I would not say this set won't sell.

I play modern... this set is meh. I don't particularly enjoy spending my money on crap cards that are only good for a limited time. If u wanna do that, then hopefully your clan prevails.

The fetches are exciting in modern. The rest isn't likely to make an impact. Anafenza could do. Some of the charms might. Abzan ascendancy may do.
It's not hugely exciting in modern.

Nothing is really exciting in/to Modern. Unless it's a reprint, hardly any Modern players care. How many unique cards in Theros block made a Top 8 list? A dozen?
I really like the set; it's a tried but true set-up (warring factions), but none the less I'm looking forward to it. With Temur's ramp, Crater's Claw should be an alright utility/finisher, it'd be amazing if it gained uncounterable with Ferocious.

@APPLE01DOJ I'm with you on the set being meh, it's like theros block over again but worse besides fetches. Almost everything is over costed gold cards with weak abilities. It's like a very casual set and some edh . Most of its bleh for legacy, modern (my fav.) and even standard. Although I do like the fetches and there is more to come, I honestly think invasion was a much better gold set , yeah it was a lot over costed cmc's compared to today's creature standard but at least the abilities were so much more interesting. Time will only tell ..

@APPLE01DOJ, I don't quite agree with you here. I also play Modern, and there's been some good stuff so far. Remember, cards aren't printed for Modern. They're printed for Standard. Also only 61/269 cards have been spoiled and so far we have these Modern playables:
- 5 "new" fetch lands (this is HUGE for Modern)
- Clever Impersonator
- Utter End
- Rattleclaw Mystic
- See the Unwritten
- Abzan Ascendancy
None of these cards are "OMG SO BROKEN", but they're all certainly playable. Don't expect power cards like Liliana of the Veil or Linvala, Keeper of Silence and you probably won't be disappointed. For the most part, WotC admitted they made mistakes in printing these kinds of cards and we probably won't see them again.

@trentfaris242 Historically though wizards has said that frequently over the last 12+ years not just recently. Though I am not saying we will not get another Liliana of the Veil but we will get cards that are playable in other formats, every set has them its just a matter of time before its released and tested or another card in the future that breaks another card. Tarmogoyf , Show and Tell , Splinter Twin and countless cards were, in the beginning, bulk rares. Threads over the years repeat generally the same theme except the few "OMG SO BROKEN" cards, so if we see one it may be amazing, if we don't we will see it emerge later in time. So at this time in my opinion fetch lands are the most amazing cards in this set and the rest are mostly casual play or a really really slow standard even when compared to Theros Block, but it'll open more variety of decks than Mono-Blue/Black Devotion. Though a few cards may have the power to be broken in the future, such as, Clever Impersonator which has the ability to clone anything non-land. That may lead to broken decks as sets come out in the future years from now or who knows present. Moral of my story is that we will always get "Broken" and highly "Powerful" cards, we just have to wait and see.

The mythics are really disapointing so far other than sarkhan, the rares are decent, though.

With the exception of the possibility of running Abzan Ascendancy as a singleton, not a single card u listed is modern playable. Most of have much better options.

@APPLE01DOJ Clever Impersonator is the first Magic card in existence able to copy any nonland permanent for a Modern playable cost. I showed it to my friend playing UW Tron and his exact words were "That's so good for control!" (I don't think he was necessarily talking about his deck).
See the Unwritten can easily, easily be played in RG Tron.
Utter End could see side board play for BW Tokens against decks like Birthing Pod or Splinter Twin , decks they already struggle against.
Rattleclaw Mystic might be the hardest to make work, but it can still be done.
Like I said, none of them are amazingly good, and maybe none of them will see play, but they are all Modern playable.

4-color good stuff might like to try Rattleclaw Mystic .
September 4, 2014 7:15 p.m.
I don't play modern (not yet anyway), but I have a hard time buying Rattleclaw Mystic as playable. What exactly does it do well? You're not going to be morphing it, and if you want the mana acceleration, Sylvan Caryatid far outclasses it - and that doesn't see modern play.
Utter End looks a bit pricey for modern worthy removal.
Clever Impersonator seems like the strongest card in the set so far, and I could see that finding a home in a modern deck (not sure which deck would want it though).

Threads of Disloyalty and Vedalken Shackles and Cryptoplasm and Phyrexian Metamorph are less CMC expensive options.
Clever Impersonator might be a SB card at best. ...I'm sticking to what I originally said though.

Clever Impersonator copies nonland permanents. That means Birthing Pod , Planeswalkers, and lots of other goodies for control.

Ah, the Sage appears to be the Jeskai intro pack front.
