In case it isn't up on here yet,
Disciple of Deceit
U B
Creature - Human Rogue
Inspired Whenever Disciple of Deceit becomes untapped, you may discard a nonland card. If you do, search your library for a card with the same converted mana cost as that card, reveal it, put it into your hand, then shuffle your library.

I personally am excited for a repeatable Transmute for EDH. It can also really help search out answers in Standard. Thoughts?
I suppose it synergizes with Phenax, God of Deception , but I'm guessing people aren't wild about the idea. Maybe some hardcore control deck that can use the Disciple to tutor for counterspells and other nasty things like Bile Blight

I'm a fan. Definitely going to be tinkering with this.

At least there are a multitude of other ways to tap/untap it in EDH, Epochalyptik.

@meecht: While that's true, it's not optimal to have to rely on tap effects to make a card useful. Good tap effects, even in EDH, are relatively few in number.

I'm not saying it could be thrown into every U/B deck, but in the right shell it could work really well. Maze of Ith really ups the potential of this card.

This is mainly a combo-enabler, and there ain't no good combos to be had in Standard.
Even in other formats, there aren't many good combos in UB either.

I don't think it's good enough. Inspired is a bad mechanic. You have to play it, wait a turn, tap/attack, wait a turn, and then you finally get to untap and use the ability.

shrug Devotion enabler, bigger bottom, cheap CMC. Phenax, God of Deception and Triton Tactics could make use of it. A mill deck is fun, if not terribly competitive.

It's not Augur of Bolas . I will never be able to love another 1/3 creature...

...with those 3 masks laid out the way they are... I'm assuming he's playing the "cups" game?

I just wanted to point out that Disciple of Deceit is the worlds first Tutor Looter. I really hope that was the playtest name for this card.

IDK if this is a "he". That is some serious goldilocks hair

So, can a person pitch an Island to go searching for a Mana Confluence ?

Oh, Duh, I need to read, totally ignore that last statement.

As you noticed.... no, you can't. But you can discard Accorder's Shield or Astral Cornucopia to get any land.

Will this be a trade for Omenspeaker in many decks? After all, why Scry, when you can tutor?
April 18, 2014 5:30 p.m.
I doubt it. Most decks that would play Omenspeaker wouldn't be attacking very often. And if you're not attacking then "inspired" isn't very good. Sure you can get tricky and tap/untap him by other means, but that's trying to do too much. You'd have to devote too much of your deck to be tricky and overall just make it worse. My opinion at least.

It has potential, but it's limited by its lack of a tap ability. In EDH, a 1/3 is typically not something you want to be swinging with after the first few turns.
