I'm sure it'd still be cheaper just to individually order what I'd want from each deck, but still, that's a pretty good value, considering how much some of those duel decks run for elsewhere. Might get it anyway just to have some fairly equally balanced decks to play my brother with.
Whoops, my bad! Thanks.
But yeah, I'd like it, and it'll probably be a Christmas thing if I'm drawing blanks on gift ideas, but I'd probably only take out DT from it to use in other decks, but at that point it'd be cheaper to just get a playset of it. Or at least roughly the same price. But I'm more of a collector than a hardcore player, so at those prices, I might as well just get the whole collection.

I don't want to imagine how expensive this'll be. Right when I become a poor college student...
Damn you Wizards. Damn you.

I'll probably try to pick one up just because it has a lot of good cards to stick in my cube. $100 MSRP is kind of steep though...

@sylvannos go and check out what it would be to buy them all individually right now and you won't think that $100 is steep lol. Just the Elves vs. Goblins one is going for $119.99 + shipping on ebay at the cheapest price.

@abenz419: I meant "$100 is steep" as in "I don't know if I'll have that much disposable income when it comes out."
The Divine vs. Demonic has been floating around at a few shops in my area and it's always been $125+ because of Akroma, Angel of Wrath and Demonic Tutor .

@abenz419 Assuming this set is widely distributed, those prices will plummet. I don't think I'll be picking it up; I'll probably buy some singles from it, but that price tag seems exorbitant for a bunch of cards I won't have any use for.

@jr92_2000 of course they'll drop, but they're not gonna drop down to $25 a piece (what they equate to for the anthology MSRP). Especially since most LGS's will be selling these for more than MSRP. Just like they do with the commander decks when they're released, the FTV boxes, etc..These products are not easy to get now which is why there is demand for such a thing as the anthology set and stores will definitely take advantage of that demand. I'll still be cheaper to pick up the anthology set than to buy each individually.

@abenz419 If this is the holiday package, then it'll likely be sold at Walmart/Target. There is no way it's going to be sold over MSRP if that happens; the demand is driven by the limited supply of these duel deck runs, and this will alleviate that limitation.
I just don't see enough that interests me in this set to drop $100 on it.

I'm not trying to convince you to buy it or anything like that. Sorry if it came off that way. My initial comment was in response to the "steep price", and I was just getting at that $100 for the 4 is actually a good price for them. I mean it's $25 a piece compared to the $100+. He did correct himself saying that he meant steep for him and not steep in general.
I'm just a little confused about the, "it's not going to be sold over MSRP" part. The commander decks are sold in walmart/target/meijer/etc and the ones that contain the money cards are still being sold for over MSRP and have been since they were released.

Walmart never sells their products over MSRP. I know this because the walmart I used to shop at back in my own town had everything the same price when it came to the commander decks. There was very large mtg group for how small the city was, so I was lucky to get the grixis deck.
If they do sell them over, it'll be about $10 over. That's it really. I'll be able to buy these the moment I find a walmart in this new city.

I know walmart doesn't, but that doesn't stop Game shops for doing it, which is what I was talking about..Typically things that are popular, like the commander decks and like I'm expecting these to be, usually sell out pretty quickly at stores like walmart because people are trying to get them for as cheap as possible. I'm fortunate that the shop closest to me sells all the products like these at MSRP even when other shops have hiked up the price because of "money cards". The only downside is that they typically sell out just as fast as places like walmart because of it.

I just doubt that the demand will hold once they're widely distributed. You can still find commander decks at Walmart's and Target's near me (just not the Mind Seize one). I don't see a True-Name Nemesis here that will have these things flying off of the shelf.

It'll be interesting to see the packaging. Does anybody know if it's going to be a box with other boxes in it (so the LGSes can tear them apart and sell the Duel Decks individually) or if it' will just be one display box?

I am pretty disappointed these are selling all in one big set and not individually...I just want the Divine vs Demonic duel deck really, haha.
August 10, 2014 10:36 a.m.
don't worry, I'm sure some will open them just to break 'em apart and sell cards/boxes individually

I'm seriously considering getting it, but I think the only card in all the decks I really want is Demonic Tutor .
