I don't think there is one yet, at least not one posted recently. If there is, feel free to correct me.
Kind of a shame. Sorin was the only interesting planeswalker due to his multiple and often conflicting priorities. The others are pretty straightforward.

So is Sorin down for good? If so that's a pity. He's an interesting character. Oh well. As one black-aligned hero falls another rises. Welcome to the jacetice league Liliana. Membership does not include free cookies and coffee.

phht. Sorin aint dead so what does it matter? just left it open to bring him back later on, same with Emmy.
July 1, 2016 2:36 p.m.
shinobigarth, keep in mind that Nahiri made this prison. The same person who made a prison for the Eldrazi titans that lasted 5000 years. Yeah, they probably will bring him back but he's not escaping that without some serious help. It's a threat that won't matter until much much later.
July 1, 2016 2:41 p.m.
shinobigarth says... #7
Yeah it lasted for that long only cause it was sealed by 3 walkers and nobody dicked around with it until the Jacetice league showed up.
At best Nahiri got a Pyrrhic victory.
July 1, 2016 2:59 p.m. Edited.
@DarkLaw History has always been written by the victor, no matter how close the victor came to losing. So I was not inaccurate when I said who won, even if I neglected how the fight played out in its entirety

So does this mean Sorin is dead? I hope not. But think about it, Sorin could manipulate the Helavault to encase Nahiri, so doesn't he have some form of lithomancy too? Couldn't he just burst out of the stone and be like "surprise!"
If Nahiri survived being stuck in pure silver, then Sorin could survive being put in stone.
July 1, 2016 3:11 p.m.
shinobigarth says... #10
Olivia wasn't really doing much before she switched to Nahiri's side so best explanation is Nahiri was just barely staving off Sorin probably using rocks to deflect his otherwise deadly attacks.
Either way, Nahiri is straight up nuts now and the Jacetice league is probably gonna hunt her down now seeing as how she's a danger to every plane. She's gone over the edge.
July 1, 2016 3:14 p.m.
He's alive, I'm sure. But Sorin and Ugin's attempts at Lithomancy before we always considered crude and everything both of them learned about it they learned from her. Its like saying Jace could beat Gideon in a fist fight with no magic. Everyone knows who would win that every time when the magic aspect is removed. Sorin's lithomancy is nowhere near the level that Nahiri's is. If she made the prison it'll prevent planeswalking and anything other than another master lithomancer or some crap deus ex machina won't be able to free him. Remember if you could planeswalk to escape her stonecraft the Eldrazi prison would have never worked.
July 1, 2016 3:17 p.m.
I don't remember did Sarkhan kill Ugin or something because it seems like Ugin would have been helpful here...
July 1, 2016 3:25 p.m.
Nicol Bolas killed Ugin but Sarkhan used Ugin's bones to time travel back to their fight and he managed to prevent Ugin's death. Ugin was last seen on Zendikar after OGW, but it's unclear where he went after that.
July 1, 2016 3:28 p.m.
Is anyone slightly concerned that Murder is back in Standard?
July 1, 2016 3:39 p.m.
no, Standard has been direly needing an instant speed kill spell for a while. I just wish it was a Doom Blade or any other 2 drop instead lol
July 1, 2016 3:42 p.m.
PistonGolem says... #17
Oh nvm, its an instant. Meh, I am happy to see removal and good reprints in any color other than White or Green. I do not like WotC encouraging the more prominent decks, as it ramps up prices.
July 1, 2016 3:45 p.m.
Well, it depends on whether the fight with Nahiri was terminated before Olivia joined in to get in on that hot action. I believe it was, because Nahiri stopped fighting for a while. Then Nahiri hit Sorin with a preemptive strike. So really, it depends on your interpretation of the fight as to who won.
July 1, 2016 3:46 p.m.
Oh, and Eldrazi can't planeswalk because they aren't planeswalkers. Different rules may apply. And the prison is certainly different.
Are we also talking about Bolas vs Sarkhan and Ugin? Yeah, didn't pre-mending Bolas like to eat his dead enemies to gain their power and stuff?

Wow this story is such a disgraceful mess. I was pissed when they went "Hey guys, it's Emrakul!" but this is just a pile of shit. The Eldrazi have just become a generic threat now because no one of any consequence to the story has died. Apparently it's easy to kill and/or imprison Eldrazi now (provided Ob Nixilis isn't interfering of course), unlike the lore has been indicating forever.

I wish they'd hire G. R. R. Martin to write these stories.

I would just like to shout out to DarkLaw and Zaueski for hiding all of their story line/lore spoilers comments behind nice little drop down buttons so not to ruin the story for the rest of us. It is becoming difficult to try and look for more card discussion comments with all the story spoilers popping up on this thread now. Yes the outcome of this set can be seen coming from a mile away, but still, it's nice to experience it through the cards when they are spoiled.
July 1, 2016 4:28 p.m.
No problem, I know a lot of people don't like spoilers so I was trying to be courteous
July 1, 2016 4:36 p.m.
I forgot to do that. I was just enraged by the outcome (Well, ok, half of it).
July 1, 2016 4:39 p.m.
So I'm curious to try a Tamiyo Super Friends now... what do you guys think? Is she just an addition to bant company/humans or does she need her own deck? Either way shes probably the most powerful card spoiled thus far
July 1, 2016 4:41 p.m.
Nah, bant walkers will be strong. I mentioned a rough build here.
July 1, 2016 4:45 p.m.
Ok, that is just riddicolous. GW Tamyo. Tamyo. GW. I know - bant, so still GW. In THIS Standard.... How marvellous, that Wizards finally gave some value to poor GW decks, thay can at least try to play anything now. Ah, nothing like good, fair balance in the game.
I really hope, that Emrakul will devour everything everywhere and there will be standard Game Over.
And I really think that it's the highest time to spend some time for poker now.
:( :( ;(

shinobigarth says... #28
Calm down, new Tamiyo is one of those walkers that paints a huge target on herself if she hits the table, so just attack her or blow her up if you see her.
July 1, 2016 5:02 p.m.
DemonDragonJ says... #29
The new Tamiyo is awesome! I would very much like to put her into my white/blue/green EDH deck, but I am not certain that I can remove any cards from it to make room for her, which makes me very sad. :(
MagicalHacker, if Martin was writing the story of this game, I am certain that they would be of much higher quality, but they also would be very dark and depressing, rarely having happy endings, and many more characters would die than who have died already.
July 1, 2016 5:03 p.m.
PistonGolem says... #30
Anyone have an idea of which way the new emrakul could go on prices? I am hoping it would drop below 10 bucks...
July 1, 2016 5:24 p.m.
After what happened with Nahiri, the Harbinger I'm never predicting new card prices again.
July 1, 2016 5:28 p.m.
Eh I don't mind being wrong, it just depends on playability. New Emmy is playable, good effects, but hard to get out and people are mixed about her... assuming she doesn't break a tournament wide open I'd expect her to stay around $10-$20... granted you should take what I say with a grain of salt but thats my prediction

I'm not savvy enough with the site to know how to hide spoilers. That being said, if you don't want spoilers, you probably shouldn't be on a spoiler thread.

zephramtripp says... #34
So why is new Tamiyo good? I know in the best case it draws you a million cards and cast everything for free, but in the worse case it staves off two attacks or draws you two cards. The only reason it would be any good is if you're already ahead or you're at parity on the board. Plus you need three colors, and even with Oath of Nissa this Standard environment isn't particularly conducive to straight three color. Most decks are two colors and a splash. This Tamiyo isn't particularly good at bringing you back when you're behind. Sure it stops a couple attacks, but what's the likelihood of them not having the two damage to finish of your Tamiyo? I don't get why it is so good.
TL;DR Could someone explain why new Tamiyo is good?
July 1, 2016 5:52 p.m.
VampireArmy says... #35
At her worst she stalls 2 attackers and soaks up a minimum of 2 dmg. That's pretty boss. Also people have been casting chandra off of 0 red sources in gw for a while now so it's not a leap to assume they'll do the same here.
July 1, 2016 6:09 p.m.
Ruling question: if you plus using Tamiyo and they hit Tamiyo with both, do you draw two?

She's kind of a win more card. If you manage to get her ult off you're probably already winning because she isn't dead yet. Or your opponent has been setting up for a combo win in which case her emblem won't help much.
I mean along with Nissa's Oath you can play her in mono green and then play any color and CMC spells with her if you can manage to get her ult off. Really have to build around protecting her though is the thing which means mono green probably isn't a good plan.
July 1, 2016 7:15 p.m.
I feel like she could be used in bant coco pretty well. Use her plus to draw cards, usually targeting your own guys, and her minus to remove blockers. Iam not a coco player so I could be totally wrong.
July 1, 2016 9:53 p.m.
Also, using else eldritch evolution to turn one of the 8 cost emerge cards into ulamog seems pretty powerful
July 1, 2016 9:55 p.m.
I'm thinking [emrakul's evangel] and Omnath, Locus of Rage are going to have a party together. Rage babies die only to spawn eldrazi... its counter intuitive to Omnath's "rage" flavor but it would be awesome at the same time :D
(Emrakul's Evangel is the one that you tap and sac it and any number of other non-eldrazi creatures then put that many 3/2 eldrazi horror creatures tokens into play)
July 1, 2016 11:04 p.m. Edited.
TobyG I'm cringing at the prospect of that. Maybe we'll get an 11 mana one (like the decimator of provinces but 11, not 10) and send them into a New'Mrakul.
July 2, 2016 4:25 a.m.
Bovine073 Maybe that's the point. No one can evolve to Emrakul, she comes from noone and nothing. At least in this set.
July 2, 2016 5:34 a.m.
PWs can grind out a lot of value on a gritty board state, so they aren't win-more. The same is true for Tamiyo.
July 2, 2016 7:57 a.m.
Hi_diddly_ho_neighbor says... #47
Would you really want to Eldritch Evolution into one of the new versions of the three titans though? You don't get to trigger their cast abilities which are arguably the strongest part about each card. Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger still would be good as a 10/10 indestructible and its attack ability, but the reason why it is such a good card is if it gets immediately removed or countered you still exiled two of your opponents permanents. Kozilek, the Great Distortion and Emrakul would just be ultimate feel-bads. Void Winnower seems like the best target to me.

AwezomePozzum says... #48
Bovine073: Well, New'Rakul's mindslaver effect triggers when you cast it, not when it enters the battlefield, so you would be losing a lot of value.

the weekends are usually rough for spoiler season, but this set hasn't been that impressive so far so i'm not sad. plus i'm gonna pound some burgers this weekend/Monday.
on Monday we should get a Jeskai card...FOR MURCA. j/k

Indeed, I want Wizards to spoil Hal and Alena. Except that will be for next week, plus Gisa and Geralf getting a card together diminishes those chances. :/
