I don't think there is one yet, at least not one posted recently. If there is, feel free to correct me.
MagicalHacker It's not so much that the set is making one of my decks undergo some changes, but: the prospect of making a Donate style deck has me actually interested in standard for the first time in... ever. Thanks Harmless Offering!

Zaueski, which one would you say is changing the most though?
July 12, 2016 1:53 p.m.
MagicalHacker probaby the Izzet Aggro Control deck on my profile. U/R spells got a lot of love this set lol. Bedlam Reveler and Curious Homunculus Flip being the two that interest me the most but there were a lot of goodies.

As usual, basically nothing for infect...
Sigh
Probably as it should be though
As for Sidisi, well then. Crypt Breaker is sweet, Elvo is sweet, Geier Reach Sanitarium is sweet, and maybe Ishkanah and Gisa and Geralf
July 12, 2016 3:52 p.m.
SwaggyMcSwagglepants, with all due respect, you recently got Become Immense giving you a turn 2 win... anything else for infect will without a doubt be of an unbelievable power level.
July 12, 2016 4:24 p.m.
I'm going to have to second Reaxetion here SwaggyMcSwagglepants... If Infect can manage a consistent Turn 2 win that will kill the archetype. It'll storm through like 1 or maybe 2 tournaments before Wizards drops the ban hammer, either killing the archetype entirely or at best sending you right back to where you are now.

SwaggyMcSwagglepants says... #8
It can't manage a consistent turn 3 kill. Turn two with become immense needs some crazy stuff to be going on. Like, git probes and mutagenic growths.
Tbh, I wouldn't care a ton if Become Immense Waa banned, but that's another story.

anyone else notice the lack of like any real demons this set ?
July 13, 2016 12:07 a.m.
Demons were nearly wiped out after the events of AVR. The very few that survived did so in hiding, like Ormendahl, Profane Prince Flip, hiding under an abbey.
July 13, 2016 2:36 a.m.
The next innistrad block will be the return of the demons.
July 13, 2016 5:37 a.m. Edited.
SwaggyMcSwagglepants - I completely agree about Become Immense.
It does not increase the likelihood of a T3 win, and is nearly impossible to be a part of a T2 win.
The only reason it sees as much play as it does (which is a 1-2 of), is because it forces your opponent to play extra carefully. As soon as you have given them 3 infect counters, the possibility of top-deck Become Immense could be lethal, so they always have to keep an answer or blocker. - Prior to Become Immense they could often just race to the kill.

Become Immense is also awesome in my stompy deck as a singleton. Not that I need it, but it's a great surprise on a trampling creature. There are few things more satisfying than resolving a kicked Vines of Vastwood and then following with a Become Immense on a trampling Leatherback Baloth with a Rancor attached to it.
Value town.
I will be sad to see it go if it does, but I doubt it will go. It's not that big of an issue.

Why doesn't anyone ever talk about the inherent value of EDH?
To me that format has a lot of value compared with Standard and Modern.
July 13, 2016 8:23 a.m.
demonicgrizzly says... #16
Argeaux i agree, but it is a casual format and i think that is why nobody really talks about value.

demonicgrizzly: There are tournaments for EDH, why do you think it is a casual format?
July 13, 2016 9:21 a.m.
RicketyEng says... #18
Epochalyptik has an article all about the difference between casual and social wrt EDH.
July 13, 2016 10:54 a.m.
@MurderHood: I was looking through the Innistrad art book they just put out and apparently it was mentioned in passing that most of the demons were corrupted by Emrakul's influence. Even Ormendahl, Profane Prince Flip himself was turned into another horror eldrazi. It's a shame that the tribe was more or less wiped out off screen (I would've even liked to have seen an Eldrazi demon to compliment Brisela).

demonicgrizzly says... #21
AwezomePozzum i meant to say largely casual, in comparison to standard and modern. most EDH players i know play casual multiplayer games and that's about as far as they go. in fact only one of the LGSs around me have an EDH night, and turnout is very small in comparison.
just my experience.
July 13, 2016 2:06 p.m.
CChaos When we return? lol In like 5-10 years? Have fun waiting for that.
July 13, 2016 2:10 p.m. Edited.
AwezomePozzum says... #23
demonicgrizzly: I will give you that point, but I was more or less pointing out that you are referring to the EDH format as being a casual one, when it was created as a Social format. The article linked to by RicketyEng covers this mix-up of "Casual" and "Social" in detail.
Seriously, it's a good read.
July 13, 2016 2:15 p.m.
We used to have a small EDH turn out at my LGS but now it has grown so large that we have four or more pods running at the same time each Wednesday.
I don't have enough of the old cards to make it worth my while to play Modern and I wanted to be able to use my favourite cards that had cycled out of Standard.
I feel that the format gives me the opportunity to do that, and making purchases for it isn't as costly as for Modern as I only need one ofs.

Argeaux that is largely the same appeal is has for me - i just built a TL EDH deck and it was a blast and buying sungle copies is much less daunting than spending the same amount of cash on just my mana base for my jund deck. that was pretty painful (pun intended) and i am still not done with it.
AwezomePozzum i took a quick glance through the article and it does seem like a good read - i will read it fully after work this afternoon.
not sure if i ever said that i enjoy EDH - but i typically enjoy magic in general on a casual or, more accurately if i refer to the article, on a social level. my first ever game of EDH i will never forget - i sat down at a table of total and absolute strangers and one of them let me play their mono green azusa deck and we all had blast.
but the competitive modern player in me i guess is less transparent that i sometimes wish haha so i apologize

Anyone hyped for Prerelease? I kinda feel sad for whoever opens their kit and sees time-stamped Deploy the Gatewatch...
July 13, 2016 6:27 p.m.
I am PistonGolem, this will be my third prerelease event, my first two were both Shadows over Innistrad. My first event was great, I opened Arlinn Kord Flip as my promo, and then a Nahiri, the Harbinger. Which I was glad I certainly held onto. My second SOI prerelease the same day I did only get an Altered Ego as my promo, but I did manage to open a Sorin, Grim Nemesis, a foil Descend upon the Sinful and a Westvale Abbey Flip!

I'm not sure who adds cards to T/O's database, but Extricator of Sin/Flesh have been misentered: their names have been spelled "Extractor of Sin" and "Extractor of Flesh".
July 13, 2016 10:03 p.m.
Hey is there a chance we could get the promo versions of Unsubstantiate and Heron's Grace Champion? Sorry, not sure where the best place to request this was
July 13, 2016 10:23 p.m.
DrFunk27 calm down, just speculation on demons in the plane. You make it sound as if the next Innastrad block was expected to release tomorrow, lol.
My idea behind their rise is the angels are no longer protectors due to their madness, the defenses Sorin put up are gone, and because of the devastation Emrakul caused to the plane (leaving eldrazi behind after she is sealed inside the moon).
July 13, 2016 11:52 p.m.
CChaos I apologize, I should have put /sarcasm on that. I was teasing, mostly. lol I honestly was surprised we didn't get at least 1 cool demon in EMN. I hope we see some in the near future. I think you have a solid point though that Sorin and the Angels can no longer protect the plane. Who knows how bad things get now.
July 14, 2016 2:16 a.m.
heyhey where are the packs for making a simulated sealed deck? I would like to be prepared for midnight release
July 14, 2016 3:56 a.m.
Jedne2, New sets become available for practice after the set premiere's at Pre-Release here on tappedout. I recommend This site for Sealed practice.
July 14, 2016 4:18 a.m.
Pretty sure I'll be out of town for Pre-Release.
I'll miss out on the money. I'm usually behind the counter for most of them.
Midnight prerelease is always hell... so I guess I get to miss that at least. About the only time I actually dare to call my job at the shop hard.

TMBRLZ: I just don't even think about staying up that late for something I can do at noon the next day. :P
July 14, 2016 9:32 a.m.
1:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. are generally pretty busy too for people with that mindset and the people who have the "lol bed time" attitude from the previous night.
My shop runs 6 pre-rerelease events over the course of a weekend at $20 a piece. We usually see as many as 50 people on the midnight fri/sat one. About 30 or so at the 6pm or 11pm the next day. Our Two Headed Giant we have on Sundays at 1pm has been picking up steam as years go by too.
Pre-Release weekends are always our craziest time and in a town of college kids and well-paid corporate level employees who can take off whenever they damn well please, we see a lot of late night planeswalkers and we see a lot of money on these weekends.

I'm just going to wait until someone pulls off Soul Separator and Tree of Perdition to kill their opponent on turn 6.
July 14, 2016 2:17 p.m.
So I was really appreciating the fact that nothing in EMN could be sacrificed to Eldritch Evolution for Emrakul, the Promised End, the flavor of that was very powerful and I liked that. Until I realized there was a creature that can be sacrificed... And all my hopes and dreams for flavor were crushed (Yes, I realize no one would ever sacrifice the creature for Emmy). Brisela, Voice of Nightmares has a CMC of 11 and thus ruins the flavor feel of Emmy being too big and bad to emerge out of anything, but the Angel ruined that awesome bit of flavor... :(
July 14, 2016 8:54 p.m.
Did you check in SOI, because you'll get 2 packs of that in your sealed pool.
July 14, 2016 9:19 p.m.
I can't wait for somebody to get Brisela, Voice of Nightmares out in EDH for the first time so I can see the look of disappointment on their face when I Supreme Verdict them.
July 14, 2016 9:22 p.m.
kengiczar, I can't wait for someone to Supreme Verdict or Obliterate me and watch their disappointment when I cast Summary Dismissal
July 14, 2016 9:33 p.m.
Interesting question, could you have Brisela, Voice of Nightmares as an edh commander?
Or do you have to have one and then hope to tutor the other one?
July 15, 2016 2:32 a.m.
No, it can't be the melded card it has to be one or the other
July 15, 2016 2:46 a.m.
genericaura says... #47
Jedne2 Unless it starts as a creature, It can't be your commander. (Dark Depths aka Marit Lage, Ormnedahl. None of em work.)
July 15, 2016 5:50 p.m.
Raging_Squiggle says... #48
Even if it does start as a legendary creature, you can't have the "flip side" as your commander because all cards outside of the battlefield are always in their default state which includes being face-up.
Archangel Avacyn Flip is an example here. You cannot use Avacyn, the Purifier Flip as your commander because that is not the default state of the card.

Pr-release weekend makes me sick... it's like a mini anime convention except you can't enjoy the product alone with tissues or a loved one.
Anyways Sigarda's Aid and Collective Defiance seem pushed to me. Not saying they are going to see play just that they are good.
The set is very subtle about it but a lot of cards are going back to designs similar to very old magic cards. For example Boon of Emrakul. It's very well costed.. until you consider that it's a removal spell and a buff spell at the same time. Something that the great ones don't do very often. Then you have Lunar Force which we were all gaga over but then abandoned. Thing is the card can still be used to put locks on people. Maybe not in Standard but in a 1v1 EDH environment it can do work with cards like Arcane Laboratory on the field. Shreds of Sanity seems pretty bad but it does get you back two spells for . The closest comparison is Mystic Retrieval which costs a total of .
Then lets look at Displace. That is a VERY effect. I mean yes there was Deadeye Navigator the greatest blinker ever, but if we're talking about spells then Displace is much more similar to Cloudshift, Eerie Interlude, Ghostway, and Liberate. only gets these types of effects when paired in a set where gets them, and before had to have in the cost as well. It's definitely a color bend and almost feels like a color break.
The set doesn't "look" or "feel" very interesting to me froma Dev standpoint (it's way to cute in the figurative sense) but what the mechanics are doing is very fun. Well fun isn't the right word there either... I'm the type of MTG player though that wants to really tax my brain when I play MTG and prioritize that over "fun". These cards I mentioned before go back to that old-school design feeling.
I just wonder why they couldn't have printed something functionally similar to Boon of Emrakul when Fleecemane Lion and Constellation were a thing. I mean Nyx Infusion was garbage and we all know it.

MagicalHacker says... #50
kengiczar, the closest thing I can think of for standard to break Lunar Force is Starfield of Nyx.
Zaueski says... #1
MagicalHacker, I think that there's way too many to list here, suffice it to say that EMN is changing every single one of my competitive decks including my modern one because of Selfless Soul in addition to having me make at least two more competitive decks lol.
