So with the upcoming set "Eternal Masters", people have begun to speculate wildly about what could be in it. That's all fine and dandy but I have a sneaking suspicion that this may be Wizards attempt to push a new format. I think a format like legacy but with the reserved list banned. This allows people who like powerful magic to still play powerful magic while it still being an open and accessible format. Whaddya think? Is it possible? Probable?

Wizards has been pretty clear that this isn't happening.

Then I would point to Aaron Forsythe's tweet where "Eternal" isn't a format that either exists or a format that WotC is thinking of.

If you want to play "Eternal", by all means you can do that, however all the signs point to this not being a real format.

There's already a thread on this here.

He said "Eternal" isn't the NAME of a format. Doesn't confirm that the idea won't exist.
