How much of your hard drive is filled with gifs?
May 23, 2016 2:17 p.m.
@JWiley129 - I have a fairly large collection of .gifs on Imgur where about half the gifs I use come from. I use that site about as much as TO and I favorite anything I think might be useful later on. In addition, I can generally think of a .gif off the top of my head and search for it if needed. I could search for something like Ainsley Harriott Spicy to find that .gif above.
So my hard drives are pretty damn clear of .gifs. I reserve them to back up whatever files I need and excessive amounts of anime.
If you ever want to play a game, open up a .gif I posted in a new tab. If it's hosted on Imgur, It's probably from my favorites.

That Mana Crypt basically confirms no Imperial Recruiter? The value would be too high with both cards in the set.. :(

smackjack I feel that would be the correct train of thought. Which is sad because if it don't include to it, the card is going to spike so very hard which would make me very sad. That also means that there is possibility that Rishadan Port and or Karakas might not be in here either. One can only their cross fingers that they're rares to drop the price to adjust to msrp of the box.

I don't know if it's been posted yet, but it looks like we have a Maze of Ith reprint. Also, it's 241/249 and Wasteland is 248/249, so there are six lands between the two...
May 23, 2016 4:08 p.m.
That's a bad sign for enemy fetches because I have a feeling wizards will want to put in uncommon duals for draft, which doesn't leave much room for fetches. On the other hand it does make port depths and karakas more likely.
May 23, 2016 4:26 p.m.
They won't give us enemy fetches for sure. They'll reserve them for he first set of a new standard block. Khans proved that fetches alone aren't great for fixing at all. They'll want to save those lands for a product they want to boost sales for. The first time we might see enemy fetches in standard is in the first set of the block after BFZ rotates so we won't have battle lands to fetch.

Picked up two boxes for 190 each ($275) One for drafting at FNM, one for myself. Good shout? (It was a massive help for my LGS who were needing to pay bills)

I need EMA in my life.... I wonder if my store has any left. They are around $400 AUD per box

I am very impressed with the first day of spoilers, and I hope that all the cards in this set are as awesome as the cards that have been revealed, thus far.
I am especially pleased with both Sneak Attack and Sylvan Library, and, if the new printing of Mana Crypt is not too expensive, I may actually consider it for my EDH decks, as a replacement for either Sol Ring or Thran Dynamo.
May 23, 2016 5:33 p.m.
smackjack I doubt Wizards cares about the value. They don't run the secondary market. I would not be surprised to see Recruiter, Rishadon Port and Karakas in the set. I think this is a no holds bar kind of affair.
May 23, 2016 5:33 p.m.
DrFunk27 They want to prevent LGS to open it all and sell as singles so yes they do make sure the average booster value isn't too high.
May 23, 2016 5:45 p.m.
"Sure, you can have the reserved list! Everything else? REPRINTS!!!"
May 23, 2016 5:47 p.m.
smackjack While I agree, I still don't see them limiting it that much. As of now, we already are on pace for a very strong EV per booster.
May 23, 2016 5:49 p.m.
I wouldn't rule out a fetchland reprint quite yet. They likely won't be in Eternal Masters, but the rumor has been they're going to show up in Conspiracy.
This makes sense because EMA lets them reprint some pretty crucial cards for Legacy, namely the expensive ones not on the reserve list. They can stick fetchlands into any set they want because they're not format destroying regarding Standard.

If you look closely at the new art for Goblin Charbelcher, you'll notice a Black Lotus coming out of the cannon.
Oh, and a Storm Crow...

Those cards pictured in belcher are hilarious.
I'm legitimately astounded they included Mana Crypt. I'll admit, I was a naysayer a half dozen pages back when we were discussing the possibilities of it. However, it's one of those cards that every EDH player is going to try to get their hands on, so it might be the next Tarmogoyf and increase in price with the printing in EMA similar to how Goyf went up after MMA. Normally for these ultra low number of copies in circulation cards when they get reprinted their prices tank since their original price was because of such low availability, not high demand; for Crypt I think the opposite will happen because now that a lot more are in circulation, more players will try and get their hands on them so demand will increase. Only time will tell.
I am pumped to get my hands on my playset of Deathrite Shaman. I might even try to get 1 Sylvan Library to play in EDH and throw into my deathblade (with proxies) sideboard.
Gamble and Maze of Ith seem fairly narrow reprints; yes they're legacy staples, but only in lands. Sylvan Library and Wasteland and Toxic Deluge, on the other hand, see play all over the place in Legacy so their reprinting will help a lot of decks and players; not just that one deck. A few narrow reprints are fine by me since they're still staples, however I'm very glad to see general staples too. I approve of their selections so far.
The cards I'd like to see reprinted are Baleful Strix at uncommon, True-Name Nemesis at rare, Pithing Needle at uncommon or as a bulk rare, Umezawa's Jitte at mythic, Swords to Plowshares, and I'm really hoping for Stoneforge Mystic. Some of those cards could go into Conspiracy pretty easily too, so I wouldn't complain if they're in there instead.
May 23, 2016 7:08 p.m. Edited.
sylvannos How did the Khans fetches destroy the format? If anything, they only helped. They weren't oppressive, and they helped keep the format fun. I don't see any set outside of standard where WotC would reprint enemy fetches.
May 23, 2016 7:22 p.m.
ToolmasterOfBrainerd: the cards are played in more than just in legacy, they see play in edh. Gamble is played in mono red edh, along with some others. Maze of ith is played in any meta that does Voltron, and Kailia.
But as a mainly edh player, I am thrilled with the reprints so far.

"Khans proved that fetches alone aren't great for fixing at all."- TheDevicer
Sorry, what? The fetches were insanely good for fixing throughout Khans of Tarkir, with or without battlelands. Combine that with the fact that they added at least 5-10 minutes to each match because of the shuffling? Stupid. I'd honestly much rather have them in Eternal Masters, or in any other supplementary set.

Maze of Ith was one of the nicest surprises for me today. Definitely a favorite card of mine back in the day. Just wish the art was The Dark and not the updated FTV. Either way, it may seem weak sauce compared to the other cards; but, in limited this is going to be a stumper for opponents.
I'm guessing Sinkhole may rear its head?

Enlightened Tutor reprint. Perhaps this means a tutor cycle.
May 23, 2016 9:28 p.m.
It's kind of just hit me what a mistake has been made. I know I have said I'd love more cards reprinted but I realize now that this was the wrong place for it. The fact that this is a limited print set makes it unavailable to the majority of the magic community due to packs likely selling for $15+ due to greedy sellers, and boxes are over $300 apiece. I did buy one box myself at $250 a few days ago just in case, but the increase in price has made it clear to me that the release of this set is more of a disservice to the community at large. I hope wizards will at least consider another print run so that the average player can get their fair share of this set.
May 23, 2016 9:42 p.m.
When Khans, M15, and Theros were in standard, decks like Abzan midrange who needed to run pretty greedy mana bases ended up running 4 copies of Sandsteppe Citadel, 6 or so painlands, about 6 temples, one urborg, maybe a mana confluence in some lists. Guess what? Only 4 Windswept Heaths. Jeskai was in a similar boat. Again, 4 tris, 6-8 temples, some painlands, 4 fetches.
It's really only when battle lands came out that we started seeing decks like Abzan-blue, jeksai-black, and so on.
When khans came out, people used fetches to compliment their slow tap-lands. Without the tri-lands, temples, and pain lands in the format, people could not have cast things like T3 Crackling Doom or Anafenza, the Foremost with any great measure of success unless they were willing to use Sylvan Caryatid or some other fixer.
I think your perception of fetches in standard is greatly influenced by their unintended effectiveness in fixing with the battle lands. With greedy land bases in standard rocking only 4 fetches, the time spent shuffling also wasn't that bad.

I will never understand how people take so long to shuffle, look at their top X, scry, etc. Get nice high quality sleeves, they are worth every penny, and think about what you want to do in advance. That and shuffling 3 times is all that is necessary, no need to power shuffle or riffle the deck 15 times!
That tidbit out of the way, these reprints are fairly spicy. Mana Crypt in draft may cause some toasty outcomes out of people, but man I am getting giddy at all the possibilities that draft will include archtype wise. Also the commander player in me peed a little at seeing all of these very playable and very sought after cards. Great job WOTC.

May 23, 2016 10:20 p.m.
On one hand, it seems more likely than not that we'll be seeing a tutor cylce with both Vampiric Tutor and Enlightened Tutor spoiled. On the other hand, I would think a cycle would have consistent rarity and those two don't match, so maybe not.

Say hello to our new Comet Storm: Worldgorger Dragon. Still generally happy about what I've seen, but they just had to do it, didn't they?

saj0219 don't forget about Gamble. Most likely we will see Worldly Tutor and Mystical Tutor to complete the cycle. Or maybe Sylvan Tutor and Personal Tutor.

There will be mythic that are not good cards, just because you don't want them to show up....WOTC thinking

I think we all anticipate subpar mythicsp, but man, that takes the cake of meh.
However, not gonna let it ruin the hotness that has been dropped so far
May 24, 2016 12:53 a.m.
tbf the current price for a foil gorger is very high, so this makes it more reasonable. And the gorger combo is a thing afterall, and an old classic. Still better than comet storm that had multiple dirt cheap foils already available. If gorger is the comet storm of the set. Thats pretty great. I will still be buying single so i couldnt care less whats in the packs. Want me a V tutor and a gamble so far. Hoping for some other cool new foils for cube and EDH though :-)
