Yes! At long last, my wish has been granted! This has been my number one most desired M:tG product for years, now (with a Norse mythology-themed block being my second-most-desired product), and it shall finally be real! This video, here, is an approximation of my reaction to this news.
Now, I understand that not every card that I desire shall be in this set, and that some level of disappointment is inevitable, but I am overall very optimistic for this set, and I really hope that it becomes a recurring product, as is Modern Masters.

Really want a reprint of Hanna, Ship's Navigator with the Judge Promo art to jam her in my Sydri EDH, because the judge one is like 60 bucks and I'm too poor to spend that much on one card for EDH

Mana Crypt is not on the reserved list.
Get your hopes up PepsiAddicted

Oh my god, I just realized that Mana Crypt and Mana Drain are not on the reserved list.
Wizards, pls! Us EDH players need this!

A friend who apparently has an inside source said rishadan port, zen fetches, show and tell, swords to plowshares and lotus petal are included.
February 15, 2016 3:33 p.m.
On another reddit thread, the same guy dan8080 mentioned also semi-confirmed 6 cards in someone's list. The list included Baleful Strix, ZEN fetches, Imperial Seal, Imperial Recruiter, Sinkhole, and a couple more. I think Shardless Agent was on that list too.

I know everyone is hyped as hell for FoW/Wasteland and some of like other likely mentioned cards from leaks, but I'm hoping this set has more than just chase rares. I opened a MM15 a month ago to $300 value, but outside of those 6 cards I only had 3 actual modern playables under the rare level.
Conspiracy was fantastic because the common/uncommon base had cards like Brainstorm, Smallpox and Intangible Virtue in addition to chase Legacy/EDH rares. So frankly I'm hoping for that power level and not the pile of draft chaff I have from MM15

Literally the only card I want out of this set is imperial recruiter. It's there only card I need to finish painter...

if Imperial Seal is in this set, my God, the print run better be something big because people are going to be shooting for that more than Goyfs..........
AND COULD YOU IMAGINE A FOIL PRICE? sheesh.

I was wondering, would WotC prints cards that are both staples in legacy and modern in this set? Could Blood Moon for example see a reprint? If they did, they would take out cards for the "Modern Master-cardpool".

I'm afraid of that, The_Raven. I'm looking to build Blue Moon in Modern and I'm afraid that they'll reprint Moon as soon as I get my set.

So this is $10 for a pack containing legacy/vintage staples. Nice.

Hmmm...finish home studio or buy into Eternal Masters? Tough one

I think draft chaff is necessary to keep the pack price sane, because they need to average out the couple of big value cards in it.

Hold up a thought just occurred if they're doing eternal masters this year...and (hypothetically) next year we get modern masters, then does that mean every summer these sets might interchange and we just get reprints after reprints?
February 15, 2016 5:58 p.m.
nobodygaming says... #28
Souljacker I totally get that, plus they would want to balance the draft format so I expect some cards that are only included for limited. I just felt really bad looking at a booster box of a set called MODERN MASTERS and being able to count the modern relevant cards on my fingers.
The cool thing about this set is its potential to have chaff relevant to lots of sets. The set is called Eternal Masters, not Legacy Masters. We will defs see cards in the set for Commander/Cube players, and I'm sure some Modern relevant cards will be included. But imagine if we had Pauper staples included in this set too. We don't need Delver of Secrets Flip but even things like Serum Visions and a true common rarity Lightning Bolt would get me hyped. And yes I know that Bolt is typically uncommon now, but again I hate seeing only 1 opened in a draft pod of 8

Flimsy card quality like MM2015?? What do you think?
February 15, 2016 6:25 p.m.
I don't think the card quality was bad, just that packaging cards in a cardboard box that is not form fitting is going to potentially damage the edges of cards as the boxes get shipped around in transit. Unfortunately these will use the same packaging. But from what I heard, it was better after the first print run.

It's so awesome they're reprinting FoW. That'll make it considerably easier for me to buy into Legacy (just need the TNN and some Daze after that). Plus, the art is actually Terese Nielsen, and if you look at it? It's clearly meant to evoke the original art.
Just... this is awesome. I'm stoked.

@aaron.jacob Reprints may be ruining the current way the MTG economy works but they are for sure not ruining the game. The player base has increased to the point now where it is impossible for most everyone to get those cards that make decks good in formats like vintage. Besides magic doesn't sell cards to give the card itself value, if they did they'd just sell the cards individually rather than in booster packs. They don't care as much about the private market value of Force of Will as they do expanding their product and brand, the more available they make each format the more money they will make. I don't see any problem with reprints so long as they do them responsibly and don't do anything like make FoW a common or something, that would break every format.

what is usually the best way to preorder a box for these master sets?
February 16, 2016 12:39 a.m.
Hopeful we get a Sol Ring reprint. Maybe Commander players can finally get foil ones! (besides the FTV ones)
February 16, 2016 12:53 a.m.
SpringingTiger: No, the quality of the actual cards, not the packaging. MM2015 cards were like cards in Duel Decks/Commander products... The original MM and even Conspiracy had normal (better) card quality, like normal sets.
February 16, 2016 12:56 a.m.
For clarification, the cardboard seemed thinner and more easily bent/warped, and the cards have a glossy finish and the edges seem more susceptible to wear. Duel Decks and Commander sets have cards with a similar glossiness and quality. But I guess that could be my imagination.
February 16, 2016 3:23 a.m.
I'm hoping for some of the more sought-after 'named' cards from Planes they have said they will not be re-visiting... Like Umezawa's Jitte, or Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker, or Goryo's Vengeance from Kamigawa block.
If they don't plan on ever returning to these Planes, then products like this are their only way of printing these cards in a worthwhile structure.

I thought Wizards and SCG stopped supporting legacy. Kinda weird to be doing this now.
February 16, 2016 8:03 a.m.
Wizards has never stated they stopped supporting Legacy. That was just peoples out-cry when Wizards decided to make a statement about not allowing proxies in sanctioned events.
In reality, stopping proxies is their way of supporting the format. - Allowing proxies (or to ignoring the fact that they are being used) means no one would buy products like this... which leads to no revenue for Wizards... leading to no support for the Format, as it would be a cost with no revenue.

I highly doubt Imperial Seal would get a reprint. It would make A Lot of collectors very angry and it would just cause people to literally riot in the streets and attack shop-keeps for boxes of this product. Same way with Mana Drain although it would be nice. This set is going to be bonkers. Boxes starting at 500$+ anyone think ? Good luck finding this msrp anywhere.

Lol I traded a Cyrptic for a Force. A Force for 4 Skites and now Force is Being reprinted.

Keep in mind all, we're not getting anymore spoilers from this set till at least next month. Barring leaks of course.
But still, the hyle is pretty real.
