Expensive Lands in Core Sets

In M14, Wizards brought back Mutavault , a powerful and expensive card many were glad to see reprinted as it brought minor price drops and added to the Core set. Now in M15 we get another great land.
Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth is back. Thoughts?

Well it probably won't have too large an impact on Standard. Decks splashing black are happy, I suppose.
I'm a big fan of Wizards' reprint policy lately. Keeping them coming slow and steady allows newer players to get old cards, but doesn't immediately kill the market value of hundreds of playsets of cards at once.

lol@ everyone who's got one right now.
That's rough for the price now, It's gonna drop hard I think.
But that is the BEST news for people that don't have one /tendsfingers

This is amazing. It's price is going to go down, which will be awesome for black EDH players

This is sweet. Definitely getting a box of M15. Looks like the best core set in several years at least.

So, this is going to make, maybe, just maybe, Naya Splash Black a thing. We will see.
June 26, 2014 7:27 p.m.
Fuck yeah, Squelching Leeches !
I guess it's mostly a commander reprint, since it's really popular in that format and had a big price-spike few months ago.

This makes me happy in my unmentionables. This coming from the guy who has 2x right now.
June 26, 2014 8:13 p.m.
i guess the MBD legacy in Standard will continue for another year... (not complaining)
June 26, 2014 8:16 p.m.
Honestly I wouldn't be too worried or overly excited about a price drop. Granted Mutavault is in a slightly different situation because it sees heavy play in Standard, but the announcement of M14 only dropped the price from $30 to $20. Hell, a Morningtide Mutavault is actually worth more now than before M14 was announced. Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth will come down, but it's not suddenly going to crash to bulk rare.

Awesome, now I can get one for my EDH. Mana fixing is cool.

Well, I use MythicSpoiler and I do understand it's not always correct. Just calling it as I see it.

The pain lands are a little surprising/lame. I thought they were avoiding dual lands in core sets? And avoiding only releasing half the colors in a set? I was hoping there would be a good set of duals in Khans. I guess we'll see...
June 26, 2014 9:03 p.m.
It might actually go up in value. Now that it's standard legal there could be more demand. It's hard to predict. But I definitely wouldn't just assume it's worthless.

As long as they don't reprint Sensei's Divining Top for whatever reason...I'm already out money from the Urborg and Stifle reprints... :/
June 26, 2014 9:07 p.m.
They can't reprint the top. It's too broken. It's already banned in modern, there's no reason to bring it back.

This core set is the first one I've been excited about in a awhile. I'm really liking how we are getting reprints of modern cards that people need to get into the format. Not to mention it's not all at once where it's like here every major staple in modern in one set. Like I said, I'm excited as hell for this core set.

Guys, the pain lands are like a buck each except for a few. They are good, solid, lands. I hardly see how that isn't budget friendly.

@GoldGhost012 It's because you're sadistic. I'm 95% sure.
I think it's great that they are introducing a variety of dual lands to Standard, as it forces deckbuilders to use very different assumptions. ETB tapped scrylands makes control decks have a lot of versatility and consistency, but slower than other decks. Shocklands make it easier to get your mana when you want it, if you're willing to give up life. Different lands with different payoffs/risks are very skill-testing.

Also, it should be noted that Urborg pairs REALLY well with the pain lands.

It'll drop in price due to the new printing, but I don't imagine it'll make waves in Standard. Still cool though!

Ah, sadism, the answer to 90% of the internet's problems...
June 26, 2014 9:44 p.m.
Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth is exactly what Standard doesn't need right now because of how good Mono-Black devotion is right now. With it, MBD can play Mutavault and use Mana Confluence to splash other colors.
I'm glad to see a reprint, just not with this current meta.

I'm excited to add a couple of these to my Rakdos aggro deck. Saw one in an EDH game the other day and thought it was cool.

Painlaaaaands!
I'm so glad I don't have to run Mana Confluence or mono temples post rotation.

I am very happy. I love pain lands, and really need 2 urborgs. I think they will be 8-10 dollars each, which puts them in my price range. I am pretty happy about this.
June 27, 2014 3:25 a.m.
This new version probably won't make the price of the original decrease too much. In the long run it might actually increase. Yay for me.

So completing my playset. I love the new look of the card. Going to have to pick up a foil one too with the new frame.
Easily the best thing spoiled so far IMO.
June 27, 2014 8:38 a.m.
Isn't the new art the same as the old? Or you mean the frame?

new frame. I think it looks sweet on that particular card.
